  • This wine is a stunner, and this is a great deal. I'm not sure of this vintage in particular but if you like your reds I'm sure you already know Evans and Tate produce some of the area's best. Usually sits at $18-$22 at the bottleshops. Thanks for the heads up!

  • great wine too at a great price…

  • thanks OP

$75 delivered to Brisbane = $6.25 per bottle

    • I got 2 SMS for this and didn't even think of posting it!

Glad i didn't cause I wouldn't have thought to look for a coupon code.
Bugger!, I didn't use MoneyBackCo.. would make it $7 less again!

    • How do you get $75 delivered?

  • evans tate can be a bit hit and miss. but thanks for the code. I picked up the Mitchelton Parish Shiraz Viognier for $15 off :)

  • Perfect. I was running low on reds.

  • Is this a 'sweet' wine or more of the dry variety?

    • ;) i will let you know when I get the wine delivered ;)

    • It's a shiraz, so it's quite a bold, dry red.

  • $7 per bottle, and a wine that is advertised on the side of buses… no thanks…

    • It's a $20 wine. It's a cancelled export order which happens quite a bit, and they just dump it on the market. So whilst it's a 'bargain', it's not a budget drop.

    • Very uneducated comment, just assuming the worst based on advertising on a bus for a very different range.

I can 100% confirm, I have paid $17.50 for the exact same wine in the fine wine section at Dan Murphys, they no longer have the 2005 vintage, you can now only buy 2007 vintage and it is the same price.

I have also paid $32 in a restaurant for this same wine.

So you are getting a wine from a vintage you can't buy anymore which retails for $17-$23, bargain if you ask me.

Name: EVANS & TATE MARGARET RIVER SHIRAZ 2005 (CANX EXPORT) 12

    Vintage: 2005

    Alcohol: 14.5%

    Drink Now Until: 2012

Oak: A combination of new, one and two yearold American barriques for 18 months.

    Varieties: Shiraz

Foods: Beef bourgignon pie on a bed of potatoes and gravy

    Background:

Colour: Blood red with purple hints.

Nose: Maraschino cherry, ripe mulberry, spice and earthy aromas dominate the nose with subtle smoke and cedar notes from barrel fermentation.

Palate: Ripe cherry and mulberry fruit flavours continue onto the palate, combining with hints of spice and elegantly integrated fine, dusty tannins. The wine is juicy, rich and soft with a lingering finish.

Highlights: A good growing and ripening season was experienced with healthy rainfall occurring during the key growing phase post veraison. The 2005 vintage was characterised by mild conditions with days rarely becoming hotter than 35°C, combined with some rain during March and April. The resultant fruit showed good flavour, balance and intensity.

All fruit was harvested in the cool of night and processed with out delay. Fermentation on skins occurred in a combination of static and rotary fermenters with a variety of cap management techniques employed to ensure the extraction of optimum colour, t annin and flavour was achieved. Pressing occurred before primary fermentation was complete with the wine finishing primary fermentation in either stainless steel tanks or a when it was racked to barrel. The wine was matured in a combination of new, one and two year old American oak barriques for 18 months.

  • Great vintage.

  • Could any one recommend a good SWEET wine please?

    • There's no such thing… :-)
Women love Rockford Alicante, or Banrock Station White Shiraz (for a cheaper variety).
      Gewurtztraminer's are all sweet.
      Late Picked Rieslings.

I had some Tim Adams Pinot Gris last weekend in Clare.. it's sweet in my opinion and good enough that I bought a bottle.

    FACE2 not working

This voucher does not apply to items in the cart.
Please correct or remove the Voucher code and click Apply

    • I ordered a dozen about an hour ago and it worked then - maybe they've put the kaibosh on it?

    • Yeah, it worked for me too

    • I didn't add the code to the CODE section as this is an old code. It was working for me and others. I have update the descriptions as code seems to be expired :)

  • I tried this

    Voucher Code : FACE2
This voucher does not apply to items in the cart.
Please correct or remove the Voucher code and click Apply

Does anyone know what's wrong with this code ?

    • They must've worked out people were using the code to get wine cheaper than they were willing to let it go.
It's an old code, possibly should have been deactivated.
Or perhaps you've used it before?

    • Looks like they've removed it for this wine. Lucky to those who got in early! :)

  • does anyone know any other codes that would work ?

  • I tried the code face2 and it didn't work I'm new to this merchant where exactly do you add it?

Edit sorry slow I see its been reported

For thos not a moneybackco member if you have a velocity reward card you can earn 4 points for every dollar by using virgins shop and earn portal

  • As others have noted, the "FACE2" code no longer works. With shipping, the dozen bottles comes to $90 or $7.50 per bottle, which is still pretty good.

    • I think its an excellent deal the Evans and Tate 2005 Shiraz Reserve has won top awards while this is not the reserve it does indicate it was a good year.

  • What da…I become their fan and just sign up for this deal and they don't give me any discount…sigh!

  • Good news is that it looks like they are honouring the FACE2 coupon for those that were able to use it. +1 Winemarket

  • just trying that code now and it don't work!

  • Great deal - thanks for the post!!

  • Does it matter that this is a couple of years old? Most places are selling the 2007 now.
And especially since these have corks, not screw-caps, you have to wonder if they are
selling cheap because they have been stored upright and in varying temperatures for too long.

Anyway, order now! 35 cases left and going fast.

    • I've bought the 2005 vintage before from Dan Murphy's and a restaurant but the bottles did not have a cork, it was a screwcap. Hope it is still good.

    • winemarket give you a money back guarantee
so if it tastes like vinegar you have reason to request a refund.

does it matter if it's a couple of years old….yes
each batch is diff and the 2005 is a good one

glad i got 2 cases, can't wait to pull the cork and enjoy!!!!

  • Gone….. NOW SOLD OUT!

  • Not sure why they are selling it at that price as it is going so fast.
Does this wine turn into vinegar in a few years?

    • the 12 bottles I bought may last me for … a few months, so no chances to let it turn to vinegar :)

    • No, but if not stored properly, it may be at increased risk of tainting.
Modern screw-caps are a lot safer, but a lot of export bottles like these still use cork.

The cork would have to fail very badly to get vinegar.

  • Bugger.. sold out… Anyone recommend any reds or whites on the website? Thanks.

  • For those that used the code FACE2, check your bank statement as it looks like they still charge your card the full $90 even though your e-mail confirmation has the lower price!

    • Was invoiced for $75 but charged $90…what gives?

  • Agreed, I have a receipt/invoice for $75, I only cleared them to take $75 from my credit card, and they've taken $90. It's only $15 but it makes me really mad, I didn't even think they could legally do that…

    • Did the ad say "NO FURTHER DISCOUNT" when you ordered?
Anyway, clearly the $75 was an error. I'm sure you could phone and cancel if $90 is too much.
Their fault - but do not wait until it is delivered to complain.
It's not like they advertised it at $75.

      • No, it didn't say no further discount. I got the code from becoming a fan of them on Facebook, so I wasn't pulling a fast one. If it didn't work, and I ordered it at $90 I would be fine with it. What I am saying is that I have a receipt for $75 and they took $90 from my account - this may cause tons of headaches if I try to get my money back. My major concern is that they took money from my bank account without my consent, do you see what I'm getting at?

        • Of course. I said it was their fault, just probably not deliberate.
Its a bit early to get mad if you have not asked them to fix it.
I guess they would have to refund the $15 or cancel the order (their choice) if you asked.

  • Not Happy people.. used the coupon and my statement shows up $90 but the invoice says $75

  • Just got a call from winemarket approving a refund of $15 claiming that the ad had "no further discount" in the description. I am happy either way but it was the principal involved that needed clarificaton.

    • I just got a call approving refund too. Hasn't appeared yet on my account but I'm sure it will. Wine arrived today, no dramas there. I think the main reason they were selling it cheap is that it has special labelling for the US market which doesn't look quite right in Australia.

  • was charged 90$ also, hopefully they will refund it , if not then… its only 15$ would of cost more if u go buy it somwhere else..

  • Received my $15 refund today - just waiting for the wine to arrive

  • My Wine arrived today in Perth Yay

  • Wine arrived. Great drop.

  • Received refund, all sorted. Wine is great.

  • Posted this deal, however I did not see any of the wines yet :( Still waiting ….

  • Got the $15 refund and wine arrived today (VIC)

They even sms you when it has been delivered, really fantastic service.

  • didnt think they were going to refund me, since i didnt bother trying to get the refund back, but guess what i got $15 refunded to me this morning, very happy with the company, delivery was excellent, took 3 days to arrived and an sms from them letting me know that they left the wine box at the back door..
best customer service ever.. will shop with them agian for sure…

  • So, more important than the $15, how is the wine?
I have opened two bottles, and one had a dry cork that broke so I had to pour it through a tea-strainer.
I thought there was a slight tainted smell, but no-one else complained when asked how it was.
