  • Any bargains?

  • $67 of postage for motherboard + CPU + RAM… where is the bargain??

    • -2

So their prices on the motherboard, CPU and RAM (+ the 5% if you were spending over $400) were not cheap enough that they offset $67 postage? Then there is no bargain in your case.

    For completeness:
neweggs total: $605 including postage $67 and 5% discount $28
ijk.com.au total: $605 (no postage as I live next 5 min away)

Same price than regular price to the shop next to my place.

    • All well and good for you to pick up, but lets compare a bargain for the other 99.99% of Australians that can't walk to their shop.

Minimum shipping is $10 for 1 box into sydney and it escalates the further you live.

id also be hesitant to buy from them based purely on having a website straight out of 2001

      Thanks for poting OP

Same price than regular price to the shop next to my place.

Great, you compared one item out of tens of thousands. Your negative vote is unwarranted.

Their hard drive prices are good, but the high shipping prices don't help.

    E.g. http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8…

Tried with a gpu, 970 ftw+… comes with free gift, smh
The promo code AUSJOLLY5 cannot be combined with combo deals or gift items attached to products.

    • yup, the code is actually free you can redeem it from the GPU manufacturer if you make a claim and upload the invoice.

  • How is the Newegg Australia site going by the way?

Do they pose some competition to msy or pccasegear?

    • +1

In my experience, not so far. Everything I've looked at from Newegg has been right around the same price or a lot higher than what I can get from my local traders eg/ MSY. And that's without even considering wait times and potential warranty issues. There probably are some good buys but I didn't find them.

  • There are bargains here.. you really aren't trying if you can't find any.

    merry xmas all.

  • Doesn't work on any [NVIDIAGPU's](http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/ProductList.aspx?Sub… 600565061) right now because it counts the Bullets or Blades promotion as some 'gift' bundle.. wrong link but same stuff..

  • Only one case fan and the shipping is $30.97 for a $22.00 Cougar Vortex 120mm fan. Is this reasonable lol

    • +2

oh come on.. this is like ordering 1 pair of socks from eastbay and complaining about the shipping.

Using the 4tb example given above.

      3x 4tb HGST drives including shipping = $614.10

      this is $204.7 per drive.

      Cheapest on staticice is $245.

And this is before 2.5% cashback

lowest ever price for this hard drive on Amazon is $154 USD not including shipping.. about $214 AUD.

My point is this is actually incredibly reasonable. A deal in fact. Also, the amount that shipping increases is not linear.. add a stick of ram to an order if you don't believe me.

        Other ideas:

        • You could get a cpu, motherboard, ram - or any combination of hardware to the value $400-$800. You would prob pay $60 shipping for everything.

        • If it's in a combo bundle and you can't add it - try adding it unbundled or mixing and matching different hardware. The savings are still significant vs almost any other source.

        • Look for items with free shipping. There are a few.

        • If you can't add an Nvidia GPU, perhaps consider an ATI GPU (e.g. ATI r9 380).

And with this I really am done here. Hopefully someone got some use out of it.

        • Well now I know thanks for your help. I dont see a free shipping filter in Newegg unless I add the item into the cart every single time it reminds me of Amazon. I can only assume the items on the homepage have better shipping and also the items you suggested.
