  • 3.5" right?

  • i dont see a price ANYWHERE!!!

  • post the price dude.

  • Yes these use a 3.5" drive - sorry price should have been added $99 !

  • Decent deal for brand name enclosure with many inputs. If I'm not mistaken they even have Kensington lock hole (need to verify that).

  • just wondering, can you change the hdd inside later? anyone tried?

  • great price for esata and firewire +5 yrs warranty.

  • Why do drives require mac specific formatting? I use my FAT32 and NTFS USB drives on my gf's mac all the time with no problems?

    • Because then you're missing out on good stuff like journaling, which make for a much more resilient file system. I you are using the drive exclusively on mac and other mac machines then you would format it with HFS+, but if you need need to move files around from mac to pc etc, then FAT32 or NTFS would be a better choice.

      • +1

NTFS is a journaling file system (like most current file systems), but FAT32 isn't.

I think the main reason they do mac specific ones is because most mac users don't know what they are doing, and so it has to plug in "and just work".
