GearBest - What to Expect When You Submit a Ticket, My Experience

I thought I would avoid lost parcels with GearBest by using registered post – not so. Here is my experience with dealing with GearBest customer service through their ticket system. All correspondence was through the same ticket.

First the codes

  1. We are extremely sorry/ We sincerely apologize/We regret = (censored) you!
  2. Please be patient = jump through a few hoops and don't bother us again until a date we specify.
  3. I have reviewed your order in detail = I didn't bother reading your comments but have graciously responded by sending standard answer No 4
  4. You are a valuable customer = Are you not tired of bashing your head against a brick wall? Take the pittance we offer, at least the pain will stop.

Chapter one – Where's the rest of my order? – Aug 23 to Sep 16

Placed order 23rd August. As well over $40 USD value it qualified for free tracking. Only part of order was shipped. It was sent Registered mail and arrived safely.
Opened a ticket 16th September asking when remaining part of the same order would be sent. Result was they sent it a couple of days after my contact, but by Surface mail (sheesh), so they could not supply a tracking number.

Chapter two – Delay, Delay, Delay – Oct 27 to Nov 16

Parcel not received after 6 weeks so contacted them. Pointed out it should have been sent Registered and received the following (see code 3), “Please kindly note surface is the cheapest and the slowest shipping option …” They told me to check with Post Office and contact them again on 16th November if not received (see code 2).

Chapter three – Ignore, Ignore, Ignore – Nov 16 to Dec 10
Parcel still not received Nov 16. My next 3 attempts at contact received the automated “support staff will reply in 24 hours” - but no replies. I was always polite so it appears they chose to ignore me because I asked for a refund.

Chapter four – A reply! (after raising a dispute with Mastercard) – Dec 10 to ??
Finally a reply Dec 10, after requesting charge back from Mastercard. Surprise, parcel has been lost, not our responsibility.
There has been much to and froing (see code 4). After being ignored for so long I've lost all faith in GearBest. Options are: They will send another one no charge but allow 45 business days or more for delivery, so I assume by surface mail, what happens if it gets lost? Or, take half refund and some points for a future purchase so I can potentially put myself through all this again.
They continue to ignore multiple statements from me that the parcel should have had tracking. They sent it surface mail, not only the cheapest and slowest option but the least secure.

Honestly, f**k GearBest. I was going to use GearBest for a few items and turned to the Ozbargain community for a reference check. Honestly, thank christ I decided against it. It sounds like nothing but pain. I feel for you.

Mod 7/10/15: Due to an increasing number of issues with GearBest, we have today banned the store from all deal posts (both rep and non rep) on OzBargain.

A member contacted us last week to express their concerns about the store; in relation to this and other threads. It appears quite clear that the majority of members feel it would no longer be beneficial to have these posts on OzBargain. The ban will be an indefinite one, we may review it if we see a significant improvement and will be monitoring this and other threads for evidence of that.

    There's a reason they're banned! ;)

  • Dear snufl,

    Greetings to you.

We are so sorry for such unhappy experience and inconvenience on you.

I will feedback this to our customer department and shipping department for improvement.
We promise you we have learnt from this.

Could you pls PM me your order number for checking out?
I can help contact refund and others for you.

We sincerely apologize for this again and do hope we can do something to make up you at this.

I am looking forward to your reply.

    Kind regards,
    sunny

  • Thought I would get back to those interested.
Following are copies of the last 2 contacts via my support ticket. A couple of points:
Please forgive my use of CAPS, I hoped this may finally make them read my reason for requesting a refund.
I used Australian dollars because I chose AUD from the drop down when placing original order.
I have never asked for a refund for my full order. Full order was $77.49. Refund request was only for the item sent in separate parcel, surface mail and lost.
Don't want the GB Wallet points because I have no intention of ever dealing with GearBest again.

    ME - 23/12/15
*As I have said in previous replies: You said parcel was sent SURFACE. It should have had a tracking number as tracking WAS ticked. My total order was well over $40 USD so tracking was free. The first parcel in that SAME ORDER was sent REGISTERED mail.

Surface mail is not only the slowest, it is also the least secure. If the parcel had tracking it is far less likely that it would have been lost.

It is not my fault your company chose to send by a cheaper delivery method than selected so please just refund $37.78 Australian dollars. This is $40.87 less $3.09 cashback I received from Cash Rewards. Regards*

    REPLY - 4/1/16
*Thank you very much for your contacting.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused by the delay.

Please note that you have contact us you have received the item MIPOW BTL300 Bluetooth Flameless Candle Light and just not receive the item MIPOW BTL200 RGB Color Light, the price of this item is 28.99 USD,please note that you do not pay for the insurance, the parcel have lost on the way is also out of our control,we are unable to give you a full refund.

I have told to our manager, refund you 20 USD to the GB wallet is the best option that we can offer for you.

If any problem, please feel free to contact us anytime.

    Best Regards*

I did not PM sunny because I was concerned the motivation was more about getting the ban lifted on OzBargain rather than genuinely addressing the issues for all their customers.

I have since contacted 28 Degrees Mastercard to get an update on my dispute. They have refunded as a goodwill gesture, so I am not out of pocket, but this is not the outcome I wanted. I have purchased from so many good businesses because of Ozbargain. Recently I started a ticket with uFlix for a problem getting one region on one uncommon device, their service was nothing short of outstanding. Some businesses deserve to do well, others don't.

Now, I'll get off my soap box :)

  • Hi snufl,

I am very sorry to hear about this situation.

Could you please PM me your order number or ticket number first? Please rest assured that we will solve for you once we got your message.

We wish to apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope to hear from you.

  • Dont go near Gearbest. I just ordered a few things. a week later i am told not in stock and they won't refund me.

Such a dodgy website. Buyer beware

  • I ordered a phone which was faulty (Seems to be a common occurrence). The item also didn't ship through their agreed shipping method, even though they charged extra. The Wifi on the phone was not working, so had to return it to GearBest. I followed their shipping method for returns, as well as requested tracking. By the way you cannot use your own transport method, you can only use Australia Post.

While the item was in transit that were happy to respond in a very timely manner , saying they are still awaiting the item, this was normally within 24 hours.

Tracking confirmed that the item was confirmed as being received by them on the 31st January, 2016.

I have sent them the tracking info as well as contacted them on their support forum ever few days, no response from them.

I have regrets that I ever purchased from them, I think that from other complaints they are dodgy company not worthy of my dollars, and for that manner anyone else. You wonder how far they would go to trash their own brand. I have put in a complaint to the manufacturer of the phone as to my treatment, no response from them either.

I wish I had known of this forum and the complaints here, and I would not have ever purchased from them. Total Scam

  • Pretty much same as op, one item received the other item nothing for 45 days. Lots of excuses ended up requesting a refund through paypal.

The only part of the process that wasnt frustrating was getting the refund from paypal.

Do not even consider Gearbest you will regret it

  • Hi Guys,

Rather then making my own thread about my current issue with Gearbest I thought I should add it here,

Just last month I received an email out of the blue that my order had been processed.. (Hold on I thought, I never purchased anything!)

I had roughly $30 USD worth of GB Wallet Credit on my account due to some issue with a previous order.. Somehow my account was accessed and an item costing the exact amount of my GB Wallet was ordered!

The person who gained access to my account was based in Russia.. Go figure! Anyway I straight away sent a message to GB support, alerting them my account had been accessed and to cancel the order! within 24hrs a reply comes in, I had already changed my passwords etc the reply pretty much said they would cancel the order.

5 Days pass and I receive another auto email saying my order has now been sent.. Why?? I sent them another email and I don't know who works for GB but I'm sure they are clueless I get a reply saying that my order has been sent and they tell me the tracking number Completely ignored the fact I reminded them the order should of been cancelled

Another few days pass and my repsonses obviously reach the correct GB Rep who tells me (Sorry for the confusion we mistakenly sent this order.. however they would refund me my GB Wallet)

I received the GB Wallet funds.. and I thought that was it.. all sorted.

Just last week I went to purchase a 20,000mah power bank using my GB Wallet funds I just had to pay an extra $3.06 USD to cover the difference I was happy to.. however they now keep refunding me that small amount and inform me there is to high risk to accept your order.. you must pay via western union..

I explain to them you can clearly see you are shipping to an address in AUSTRALIA not RUSSIA they still don't budge and hold stance.. I've been reading all the drama with GB and now can clearly see why they are BANNED on OZB!

Sorry for the huge post but I thought I better put my 2cents in!

Today I have placed an order for $29.78 using my GB Wallet funds and the order is apparently processing.. I hope they accept it because I didn't need to pay via paypal.. but I reckon they will cancel and tell me it's to risky.. *__*

    • Oh wow I was just looking at their website and thought I'd check OZB for others' experiences and boy do they screw people over. Glad I checked.

Did you end up getting the product you ordered after all?

      • +1

After 4 Cancelled Orders and endless contact back and forth I finally got someone who said they would allow the order to be processed! :D So yes after a lot of hassle all sorted
