Very good price on the Ixus. I remember these used to be the expensive elite camera's, costing ~$500. Now they are cheaper than many kid's cameras.

I admit its a tempting price if you want a cost effective no frills camera.. Reason for it being much cheaper than previous IXUS cameras:

1 ) It's more than likely made in China (cheaper labour) vs Japan
2 ) It has no optical stabilisation
      3 ) It's 720P on video
      4 ) Plastic case
5 ) Over time cost of sensors and electronics has dropped and with more people using mobiles for camera, market for SLR and point and shoot compacts is shrinking.

      • Interesting review however the price point has changed significantly so i will give it ago , especially with the cashback , worth the try for $38

  • Good price for the S5?

Moto G3 for $250 is a very good buy especially for a dual-sim phone.

    • Am I missing something, how is the Moto G3 $250? EDIT: aah, missed the $50 offer, expired now :(

  • canon ixus 160 have a $20 cashback . so it s $38 . very good price

    • Need invoice with today's date to qualify for cashback. Will that happen?

      • where does it say you need an invoice with today's date, and i would say yes you should receive an automatic invoice online, and if you pay through paypal definitely…

My bad i found where it says that, well i am giving it a go and will let you know…

      • Hey i ordered, Got something from Goodguys which shows the date of purchase time item and all the other good stuff.

I believe it will qualify, if you print the page from your email to pdf…

However i paid using paypal and i am very sure that will qualify as an invoice…

      • Ordered 2 IXUS 160, and applied for claim as well. Just wanna upload either PayPal or order received receipt. Serial number can be kept blank. Hope will receive the cash back :)

        • You have until 31 Jan to claim, so not sure why you didn't wait to see what date on Store receipt would be. PayPal sends receipt immediately and is dated when you purchase but only says "Canon". Does mention order number though, go GG order confirmation and PayPal receipt MAY be enough. I'll wait until I get store receipt first.

      • Ordered on the 24th, picked up today. Unfortunately, the invoice shows today's date (26/12/2015) and therefore doesn't qualify for cashback.

    • Can you point me in the right direction for this cashback please, can't seem to find it…

      Edit: Nevermind found it

Here is the Cashback link for anyone interested in the Canon IXUS160

"LG 43" UHD LED 100Hz Smart TV $895 + $50 Gift Card" is the better choice becasue Sony w700c and LG 49LF5900 are both 50hz.

  • +1

from experience if you go in store and talk to a sales person, they will give you the online price and take the $50 gift voucher off the price, thus reducing the total without having to buy another product.

Who would be brave or silly enough to buy a Samsung Washing machine?

    • that was top loaders I think, front ones should be fine :) I could be wrong

      • It was, but the repairs that Samsung did under warranty were very poor, plus they initially handled the recall very badly and as a result there were more house fires than there needed to be.

        • +1

i have had a samsung front loader for 6 years and still going strong

        • whats that got to do with a front loader

          @furythree:

It is the attitude of the division of the company and who you would have to deal with if you had a problem with your machine. The real issue was not that the machines had a very dangerous fault, it was the attitude of the division of the company. This is a cultural or systemic problem, not specific to a particular model or type of washing machine. It is likely to include all products from that division of the company.

hmmm just thought, I think we have a Samsung microwave oven which likely comes from that division.

  • Thanks OP. Been looking at the Moto G3 the past few days as a phone for my mum.

  • Anyone know if the LG tv supports 4:4:4 @ 60hz 4k?

  • Good guys apparently do a price match.. reckon they can beat HN's price for the S5 at $397?? (+extra $25 off newsletter signup)

Anyone know? Im happy to go instore and pay cash too if it helps?

    Thanks :)

  • What are people watching/using 4k for?

      Stuff.

It's going to get real hard to find a FHD TV soon that doesn't suck.

    • the few things on Netflix that stream in UHD & Blu-rays. Normal Aussie TV absolutely sucks as far as picture quality goes. Glad channel 9 finally caught on and made a HD channel.

      • +1

This actually came as a result of the government removing the limitation for main channels to broadcast in SD (to maximise availability). Sometimes referred to as SD Primary Channel limitations. Other primary channels will hopefully follow suit. More:

Very interesting. Never knew about this. Honestly assumed they didn't do it due to broadcasting costs as opposed to government regulations. Fact is that most people have a HD TV, even if it isn't Full HD. Only a matter of time before every channel shifts. I pity the people who aren't as technologically inclined going out and shelling thousands of dollars at Jb HiFi for these 4K TV's and expecting normal television to look amazing.

  • Thanks trent just picked up the $15 printer with a free $20 credit they emailed :)
