eBay Australia 4.0% Cashback Sitewide @ Cashrewards

1400

With all the sales at the moment I think it's time for a computer upgrade so I PM'd TA this morning to ask if there was going to be any eBay increase for Boxing Day and he said they were launching another special to run until New Year's eve at 4%. He said feel free to post it, gave me the details and here it is. Hope you all find a bargain or two.

      Are you jv`s mum?

        I wish..

    • +4

I'm going to save $60 on one item, so yea, this is a real deal.

      • -7

Woot! You saved an extra $15. Congrats.

        • +1

No, I'll save $60. Can you even read?

          Why are you even here?

        • -7

          @scozzie:

Did you think the cashback from ebay was a new thing? Can't you read? I said you saved an extra $15.
It was at 3% (I think). Might have been 3.5 %

Laptops on ebay are a rip off.

        • @tendollar:

Actually no, I'm saving $500 buying on eBay than direct from the company. So laptops on eBay are not a ripoff. You seem intent on failing with every post you make. Please keep trying.

Yes an extra 1% or whatever from normal, but I'm saving $60 compared to not using CR at all, which I haven't done before.

        • -7

          @scozzie:

The only one who is failing is the one making up hearsay. Post the link to the laptop or is it a second hand? Sounds like it to me.

        • @tendollar: lol, is that all you got left?

You don't have to believe me, I honestly couldn't care less. I have no reason to make this up.

          Both are brand new items.

        • -5

          @scozzie:

You're not giving me anything to go on, so what do I have left but to call you a liar. Enjoy saving money on a laptop you haven't bought yet, one that probably doesn't exist from a non-existent ebay user.

        • @tendollar:

          Thanks, I will :)

I have a unconfirmed report that a 15 % site wide offer is going to happen soon

      • How soon?

        • +4

I have been told before end of year, lets see if it happens. I have a feeling that it might be 15% off selected retailers

        • -1

          @lokesh7:
10% site wide would be preferable for me.

        • +1

@sween64: I will see what I can do

        • -1

@lokesh7: I'd appreciate knowing this too. The laptop I want will probably disappear soon if it hasn't already. (Waiting for stupid Dell to put their refurbs back online. Wish they'd stop doing that!)

Yeah saving money isn't worth posting. Love to this this post on OzRipoff…. 😏

    • Recently bought a few Dell laptops, got $400 back. Whats wrong with that

  • +3

Thanks, I held off my eBay purchase waiting for this. 👍

  • Cashrewards, it takes almost a year to get your money back…. i think it is a joke…

    • +10

Yeah can take awhile sometimes but is it that hard to do? I'm surprised it's a free service to be honest, free money back sounds good to me!

      • +1

Well, it's not really free. The commission they get is of course higher than what they pay out to us.

That's just to clarify, I don't mind that fact and am very happy with the service they provide.

        • +2

Free to us, its clear you know what i mean

    • +1

I've yet to see success with CR and ebay… Not keen on using CR anytime soon.

      • +5

I've never had a problem with CR and Ebay.
In fact, they are usually quicker with Ebay than other merchants.

        • Look up items you want to buy and copy paste item ids to a notepad file.
        • Close out of browser.
        • Open browser fresh and just goto cashrewards site then login and click through to eBay.
        • On eBay paste the item id into search box and add to cart.
        • Repeat item search/cart for each item you want to buy.
        • Buy items.

        Works every time for me.

        • +5

I add everything to my cart, then load up CashRewards and go to ebay and do the checkout. It has worked for me so far.

        • @eug:

Yeah, this way works the best. Less hassle.

        • @eug:

really? i thought u wont get cashback if you already have items in your cart

        • @jasecs: I remove them - just in case.

        • @jasecs: mmm well it has worked for me many times. If you want to be doubly-sure, login to cashrewards before adding things to your cart, then go back to ebay via the cashrewards link and complete checkout?

      • Just got $185 back a couple of weeks ago for my GoodGuys purchases from sale (through ebay) a few months back. I was happy.

  • Was just hoping for this, but does anyone know… I want to buy a secondhand laptop from the USA:

    1. Will cashrewards pay on that, seeing it's from the USA?

    2. I was thinking of getting that 0degrees credit card (I think it's called). Does paypal still take their international conversion cut if I pay through them using that?

    • just put .au after .com in the url.

There's no fee if Paypal does the conversion.

      • Thanks. Sorry, do you mean no international currency exchange fee through Paypal regardless - or, no fee if done through 0degrees? (Pretty sure you mean the 2nd one, but wanted to check.)

        • +1
        • @silent1: Thanks.

        • +1
          • PayPal
          • No Fees

          Pick one.

        • @Orpheus: You can add your 28 degrees card to PayPal and set it up to never bill in local currency and just let the card handle the conversion :)

        • @Agret: Great, thank you.

      • +1

Dude, never ever let paypal do the conversion for you. They rip you off massively on exchange rates.

        • Which is why I asked. ;-) Actually, I knew Paypal did, no matter if you select USD or AUD - through them. But I had no idea if that still applied with the 28 degrees card.

    • +1

You can choose to be charged by PayPal in AUD in which case they take some % above the exchange rate, or if you have a 28 degrees credit card or Citibank Visa debit (both have no fees for conversion) you can choose to charge to that card in USD (there's an option on the Paypal page to be charged in a specific currency) and you will get no fees and the "actual" exchange rate. Just have to make sure it charges USD not AUD if going the 28deg/citibank route.

      • Thanks.

  • Yep, need to buy a $1500 laptop, just missed out on the recent 5% deal. Held off for another one to come up. This looks like it'll do nicely! All we need now is an eBay 20% off sale!

    • -1

      That won't happen.

    • I'm actually interested in what laptop you're buying cause I've just purchased a new one for around the same money so would like to compare if possible?

      • HP Have a 20% off sale right now.
Dell have some good deals too.

        • +2

          scozzie and tendollar round 2.

        • +3

I don't rate HP laptops at all! My recent purchase was a Metabox laptop. These are my specs:
          17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) LED Matte 72 Gamut
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
Core i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache up to 3.50 GHz)
          8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
          250GB M.2 SSD
          1TB HDD
Intel 8260 AC Dual Band WIFI/BT
          DVD +- R/RW DL Slim
2 Year Platinum Metabox Onsite Pickup

          For $1400

        • @Tuhan:

          dats dope. Where from?

        • +1

@tendollar: was originally purchasing from affordable laptops but spoke to metabox direct and got a better deal.

        • @Tuhan: 17.3" screen, damn that thing must be gigantic

      • +1

Check the Dell eBay shop as others have mentioned. Some fantastic buys on there. No different to using their main website, same warranties etc. I'm getting one that's $500 cheaper on their eBay store than on their website.

Good specs, 15.6" 1080p display (with touchscreen), 8GB RAM, 256 SSD, 6th Gen i7-6500U. Its for the wife's writing and uni, so it's more than capable.

Not going to link to it, don't want that troll moron coming back spewing more garbage :)

        • Haha yeah totally understand. PM me if you can?

        • -4

          Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2 in 1?

          Fk. Was that so hard?

        • +1

If it's the same price as Dell's website then why not buy directly from Dell? Cashrewards offer 5% cashback on Dell.com purchases, and PricePal Founder Level is 5.4%.

        • @scotty: you must've missed this part

I'm getting one that's $500 cheaper on their eBay store than on their website.

        • I am after an XPS 13

          On Ebay Dell its $1999
          On Dell.com.au its $1699

Seems like they didn't reduced prices on their Ebay site for Boxing day sale.

  • +3

Good Deal - You can purchase Dell Laptops through their eBay store & you are automatically entitled to their onsite warranty (at least I was for the XPS13 that I bought). 4% cashback on that sort of purchase is definitely worth it.

  • Ozbargainers already knew eBay would have normal 10%-15% off sitewide at some point,4% off as cashback is hardly a deal.

    • +1

Sorry, when is this? Or do you mean it's already been and gone?

    • Yep that is correct, I took advantage of it to buy an Acer Predator monitor and now I have the best gaming screen on the market :D

Here is the deal for reference:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/224809

CashRewards also got an increase in their eBay cashback for the duration of this voucher so you came out way ahead.

  • +4

Didn't they do 5% cashback just last week?

  • +1

never work for large amount purchase, spent almost 3k during 5%, a bit dodgy.

    • +2

Can confirm this is true. Have purchased a few expensive items on eBay, Cashreward never tracks them. Cheap items get tracked fine though.

      • +1

Yeah I've had less than 50% strike rate with them. Seems to be no method to the madness really. Some purchases get tracked easily, others..never. I'm the type that agonizes over the process to make sure I'm doing it correctly and still had mixed results. Getting the $20 cashback from Woolworths online purchase was an absolute nightmare. I was told to wait because tracking can take 'up to 3 months' or something. After that they took ages to reply and only after badgering them constantly, I had a rep grant me $20 cashback and in no uncertain words told me that it was because of her good graces and that they would never normally do it. I never got the Coles one.

There seems to be so much effort required on part of the consumer to actually get whats owed to them. Meanwhile you're likely to forget about the purchase if you've done a few of them and CR reaps all the rewards from the agreements they have in place with businesses, while consumers get taken for a ride. If you magnify the amount of purchases I've had never credited, and add the thousands of people that use the CR system, they'd be screwing over a fair few people. My most recent eBay purchase is unsurprisingly not being tracked, and it's been several weeks.

        • +3

Andrew here from Cashrewards and a Merry Christmas to you all. As with all cashback sites, around 1% of transactions don't track for a variety of reasons.

You can see Scotty's post here which helps explain the issues, not just with Cashrewards, but with every cashback site worldwide https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/219624#comment-3213356

As you’re probably aware, Cashrewards is the largest provider of cashback in Australia. Last month alone, nearly $1m was earned in cashback for our members. Over 85,000 cashback transactions were completed successfully. In the grand scheme of things, non-tracked transactions are minor but still extremely irritating for our members. I understand this, and am not shying away from the fact it’s not a perfect system.

I’ve said this a number of times through these forums - we guarantee to follow up with every member on every transaction issue, and you are most welcome to PM either TA or myself to resolve all legitimate transactions. We have absolutely nothing to hide and we are doing everything in our power to be as transparent as possible.

So if you don't understand something, it's automatically a scam?

  • Cough

  • I spent $800 on eBay yesterday morning, making sure to do everything properly with CashRewards, and no email received. Did CashRewards not register the sale, or will the email come later?

    • It can take up to 7 days to come through..If you done receive the email send a PM to TA he will sort it for you.

  • Same situation with me. Was careful to ensure process was followed, but no email.

Bought something from Dan Murphy's using the same process and received an email.

    • See comment above.

Receipt for $800 eBay purchase just came through.

        • Nice

  • been a while since an item didnt track, sent Andrew a message. hoping it can be sorted as it was the 5% rate (19th Dec)
