Not 20%, but better than nothing!

    • +30

Seeing as many things on ebay are loaded by 10% compared to retail to cover fees and shipping, this 'bargain' is dubious at best.

And making you spend $100 to take advantage just seems mean

      Shame eBay, shame.

      • +2

But competition is more fierce on eBay for certain items, and because it's not for a specific store, we will not likely see inflated prices (beyond their normal eBay price).

        • +2

'Fierce' is probably not the right word….ebay is a fairly closed shop these days with the spoils shared between the large big brand retailers

I cannot believe this post is appraching 400 up-votes. It is actually really stingy of ebay for not doing the now standard 20% off so close to christmas.

It shows absolutely no corporate goodwill at all - especially when they couple it with a $100 minimum buy - it relies almost entirely upon peoples increased willingness to spend leading into Christmas.

Personally i think its is offensive.

When discussing another 20% promotion, surely one of the marketing wizards said something like "i dont think we really need to do 20% off at this time of year, most of our users will just buy anyway if given a token incentive - lets just make it 10% - it will only effect the volume of sales minimally and our overall comparative margin will be greater" and then another one would have quipped in " i think youre right…lets also have a minimum spend of say $50, no wait…make that $100 "

Dont be surprised if they do the 20% thing right before Christmas to relieve you of your very last December dollar too

        • +5

Corporate and good will are two words that normally do not go together.

        • +8

No gun to your head forcing you to buy so if it's not to your liking, don't buy and move on. Ebay is here to make money. When they discount it's to entice you to buy, hence making them money or giving them cheap word of mouth advertising. Their motive is not give you a good deal. If you don't like the offer, wait for the next or buy elsewhere. Simples.

        • +2

          @Trishool: 3 words.

        • @xbai: Sure, but I was going of the two words that Pointless Comment typed.

        • @Trishool: 'goodwill' is actually one word.

          And 1+1+1=3

        • +2

@pointless comment: Again, I was counting the number of words you wrote "corporate goodwill"…..so thats 1+1 = 2.

        • @Trishool: Hah! Got em!

      • The vacuum cleaner I'm buying has me already saving $100 compared to retail, now it's $50 cheaper again!

    • +4

Lack of competition hence they make it 10% ONLY and minimum $100.

      I call it BS

    • +2

Yeah I am waiting for their 20% off again but now 10% only … lol

    • +5

20% usually is selected stores only. The storewide discounts are 15% at best, though 15% is obviously better than 10%. But then they had like max of $100 savings right?

    • True, not sure if it'll stack, but this is what i did.

      logged in through cashback 3%
multiple items to get me past $100. CHRISTMAS10 = 10%
used credit card that i get QFF points on.

      :)

      • I think that is all within the terms. Cashrewards advertised you can get the cashback in addition to the coupon.

  • +6

min $100 spend should be in title. It's a fairly important condition.

    • +5

      done

    • +1

True, however from the T's&C's you can put up to 10 things into one 'transaction' to make the $100.
      Max '2 transactions'

      • Can you pay items from different sellers as one transaction?

        • +1

Should be able to, but not in different currencies.

        • Yes you certainly can. Consider eBay as one/single big shop.

      • hmm didnt know the max 2 transactions
1 made 4 purchases yesterday at$300 each hopefully it will still work today

  • Here we go again

    • +3

Not the same… it has a min $100 spend. I believe previous 20% off does not have that.

  • -3

    Any bargains? ;p

Now, now, you're taking the one reason jv exists on OzB - she won't be too happy about this.

        • I did not need that!

        • a dangerous female too

        • +9

It seems I am not the only one who thought JV was a male all along. :)

        • +2

I thought it was common knowledge?

      • +17

Really? I thought JV was some grumpy old man that complains from behind his keyboard all day

  • +2

Now we need TA or Andrew to give us a deal on cashrewards :D

  • +2

Logged in to comment and say hi before this post gets nasty! Fantastic deal. Broden on!

  • eBay sellers are all buying raising their price (or adjusting the so-called 'shipping fee') to 11% more.

    • buy now before they realise!!

    • Bullshit

      • +3

        Turd

    • Why? AFAIK the discount is covered by ebay not the individual sellers.

      • +2

So they make extra, they are not stupid these days

        • +1

They are, a bit, if they raise prices… I always avoid sellers who do this when I would have otherwise bought from them, it does nothing for stores who want repeat customers.

        • @aoiro:
So the tens of thousands of eBay sellers out there all decided to raise their prices by 11% to take advantage of this offer?? Seems legit…

Half of them probably don't even know about it.

        • @tonytone: Do you understand my comment? Because what does your point have to do with my comment?

        • @aoiro: Was replying to coprocessors comment saying that all the EBay sellers are putting up the price

      • Exactly. Seller makes same money. Buyer pays less. eBay pays difference.

  • Wanting to get Nikon DSLR from eBay The Good Guys, currently Nikon is offering $100 cashback,
Will I still be able to claim cashback from Nikon if I buy from eBay TGG and do Click & Collect in store?
    Anyone done this before?

    • +1

      Yes it will be fine.
When you collect the item it will have an invoice from The Good Guys attached.

      • i see. thanks! =) If I buy from TGG Ebay today, usually how long until we get the confirmation to be able to collect? same day? going O/S tomorrow morning. wanna claim TRS

        • +2

Last two TGG orders I placed was same day (different stores).

        • I also got it on dabbe day click n collect. I think while ordering you see estimated time.

  • +6

Is there another 20% off coming soon??

    • Maybe

    • -2

      yes soon !!

    • +2

Let me look in my crystal ball….
      ….
      ….

Yep it looks like eBay are going to do a 40% off in 9 days so maybe you want to wait and not buy anything now.

      • +3

        my crystal ball…

And the other one made of?

        • +3

Polished stainless steel… It's a real problem stopping them clinking together.

        • @masuta: I see the issue. You are polishing your stainless, instead of rubbing your crystal.

      • it's 2 golf ball

Sometimes I feel that I need to scotty to ban me from Ozbargain.

    • +7

Its real easy to DIY - i get banned all the time

      • +6

just looking at that name is enough to warrant a ban

        • -6

Just looking at your deal posts is enough to warrant a ban

          3 in 5.5 years?

And two were unpublished coz they were dupes to boot!

So effectively you have an average of 1 post every six years (rounding up of course - for anyone interested the published deal was a top shelf dominoes deal from 2010)

I challenge you to find a worse average on this site

        • @pointless comment:
          His posts are annoynimous.

        • +1

@pointless comment: you savage lad! :')

        • +2

@FaultyMango: haha some people make it too easy….glass houses and stones ya know?

        • +2

          @pointless comment:

lol why so sour? I meant it as a joke.

why the need to dig people's history up on whether he has published enough deals?

I still upvote on deals even though I am stationed overseas at the moment.

        • +1

@annoynimous: i too was only joking mate, no hard feelings :)

It was the best i could do with such minimal thought and effort :) Its pretty common practice around here - often if newer or less prominent users step out of line or challenge someone whos been around for a while, the good old "go and post more / better deals before you comment" line is whipped out

          Sorry if i offended, cheers

        • +2

          @annoynimous:
          I think everyone was joking.
That is pretty much how I read OzB all the time - like a bunch of catty friends snarking at each other down the pub. Some savage burns, but no real ill will 99% of the time.

        • @pointless comment:
          Mine is worse.

  • +3

Lets see how long it is before TA is in here spruiking an increased cashrewards cashback amount ;)

    • didnt take long at all!

    • +4

He kindly brokered a deal which yields and extra 50c cashback for your $100 spend

  • +1

You peeps can pick up the LG G4 for under $500 now…

  • I'm after a MSI GTX 970 Gaming. It's currently $571 at PCCG which with 10% off is $513.90. Current price at CentreCom is $519.

Surely if they have this 10% off sale now, they will do another 20% off right before Christmas? Agree?

    • Newegg has the MSI 970 Gaming for $477 AUD at the moment, but shipping is around $45 which isn't great. I've been looking at Newegg for a GPU upgrade soon, but their ebay store doesn't look like it ships to Australia unfortunately.

  • +7

Without fail, every time I buy something on ebay when there isn't a % off sale one will start a day later.

    • +1

Same here. Just bought a vac from TGG just last night. And herebwe are - $40 loss as they would not match their own prices due to EBay discount

      • -1

Buy another one and return the first one??

        • TGG have couple of promos running ($150 back in total), just feel ripped off that I cannot get $40 back as well =)

        • @SergeyAU:

Can you tell me the promos they are running.

        • @PoorStudent:

Just checked myself and the two promos cannot be combined. The click and collect in store is not valid if you're doing it through ebay.

    • +2

can you please create calendar alert for everyone for when you do make a purchase, so we know when the next ebay sale is on =D

    • I've made 2 big purchaees in the last few days. cant do much about it :(

    • Pls let us know next time you buy something so that we know to wait a day before buying :P

  • what to buy???
