Was waiting for this, been 62 days since the last one so well and truly past that 45 day condition - hopefully gift cards start rolling in soon.
Nice. Would like to say the same as I signed up at the same time, except my gas has still not transferred. This is despite their being a meter read 10 days ago
Bunch of bums they are
I signed up for the last deal on 20/01 and still haven’t received any gift cards yet.
same here
Contact them now, I got mine right around day 90.
The gift card will come from Karta Rewards, search your email as it looks like spam. I knew it was coming within 1-3 days of contacting them and still thought it was a spam email when it arrived lol
@Brick50: I usually go with 120 days to be safe and have always recieved mine in that timeframe but if they signed up on Jan 20 they’ll probably arrive within the next month.
I haven’t checked recent terms but it used to say gift cards would arrive within 120 days?
@Clarky77: Yes 90 to 120 days but I find if you remind them around the 90 day mark they come through pretty soon. Perhaps they get processed manually at 90 days and whoever didn't contact them receives it around 120 days automatically
@Brick50: Has anyone received the gift card without contacting them? I signed up in last November. Contact them more than two weeks ago. Still haven't received it.
This company seems so dodgy.
@guo-au: I received the gift card for switching internet provider with them in a past deal. It did took a long time and I almost forgot but it eventually hit into my email.
@Brick50: I'm in the same boat. I contacted them two weeks ago and got a reply advising me to wait 90 days.
@salin: Yes the t&c say 90-120 days so you won’t get them before 90. However @guo-au should definitely have received the gift card by now.
You have searched your emails for karta rewards? It’ll always go to your spam/junk folder I find. Does it empty itself after a certain timeframe?
@Brick50: They got back and saying I should receive it before the end of this month. Will see what happens.
@Brick50: What address does it come from? Should be able to make a filter in GMail to stop it from going to spam
huh, they have been running similar deals every month… search for Econnex in Ozbargain
I went through econnex in October 2024. Am I eligible to do the again? I couldn't find any existing customer etc etc on this deal
Yes.
Received $200 for Dec24 electricity switch. Switched since then.
Thanks 👍👍
So this is basically a referral? They get some kickback from the providers and share $150 + $100 with you?
Probably make a note of the $75 x 4 energy rebate, not to lose it during switch.
I was worried about that myself but even when transfer has been on the exact date it’s always come through either to my former retailer (they sent a deposit to my card/account) or it’s been applied to the new retailer.
I’ve had 2x transfers that lined up either the day or day before and both were fine so don’t worry.
Have to wait for my ea $200 credit to expire first , better turn on that ac
Damn, no more internet deal from Econnex
My comparison pricing is considerably more expensive than my current electricity provider -OVO. Energy (St Kilda East)
How are others comparing?
Got best gas deal for stkilda as number one recommendation (vic energy compare gives me about the seventh cheapest without fail)
pretty good imo
I applied on the 17/1/25 on this deal
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/889130
still waiting for the gift card
i got my cards this month, applied in the Dec deal thread
I did the same, contacted them and just got this in return:
Upon reviewing your application, we can confirm that your sign-up was completed via the standard Econnex Comparison website, and it was not linked to any promotional campaign offering a Prepaid Digital Mastercard at the time.
The promotional offer you’ve mentioned was only available to applications submitted through specific campaign channels during limited timeframes. As your sign-up was not completed via one of those designated promotional links, it does not meet the eligibility criteria for the gift card.
We understand this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding. If you're still interested in accessing current promotional offers, we’d be happy to guide you through a new comparison that qualifies for one of our active reward campaigns.
The page a signed up from was the direct link from the deal on Ozbargain :(
stingy NSW never give us these deals
Try living in regional Queensland, including cities like Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Hervey Bay, and Gladston where there is 1 choice, Ergon.
My Safari just crashes as soon as try to enter details into proof of identity. Happens every time. Tried at least 10 times now. Worked fine with Vivaldi. Strange.
Any way of dodging the distributor disconnection fee?
if you're not relocating there is no connection/disconnection fee
Sweet, Ovo Energy is now part of this deal, means I get to keep my free electricity 11AM - 2PM and 8c/kWh 12AM-6AM.
not available in ACT
Can this be combined with any provider credit?
Yes
What happens to $1000 government credit
follows you is my understanding between providers
Can only speak to a gas check but in my case taking a winter bill from last year and comparing the current best gas offer on Vic Energy compare to the best offer on Econnex.
This is over a 41 day period
Vic energy compare
GloBird- $439
Econnex
Alinta Energy-$537
So I would defiantly encourage people to double check on alternative comparison sites to ensure Econnex is actually the best deal for you
Out of interest the current Energy Australia offer they are kicking me off in a couple of weeks $330
Red Energy looks similar to my current price, but connection/disconnection fee is more than $110, not worth it.
there is no connection/disconnection fee for moving between providers….looks like easy money to me if you end up paying similar amount…
note - I did some calculations and the cheapest electricity offer for me would set me back by about $18 per month….which means I have to churn within about 6 months to make a profit of about $50 which I'm not willing to do…but others may like to churn after the 30 days onto the next offer…depends on how much you are willing to pay the churn game!
What’s a reason for not doing this? Is there a catch?
I'm with AGL at the moment, if I switch to this then go back to AGL after 35 days, will I be considered a new customer by them?
I switched my gas and power today directly on 2 providers website. Could have scored $250 :(. Wonder if I can cancel them and resign up with this
you have a ten day cool-off period, y have a right to cancel

As always churn and burn! - :D
anybody have any companies to NOT use for switching? i.e. any with REALLY bad service, or change terms just after you sign up, or just don't honour the sign up prices/discounts bonuses etc? (I understand that 1/7 all bets are off each year when prices usually rise…so that is different)
I switch for credit but because I have solar it doesn't really matter to me , can make $200 credit go for few months usually without paying any electricity, but without solar these deals are not that great and your paying higher rate then usual , I would do it but move in a month again
Good deal. Applied to churn and also got sign up credits of $250, so including this would be $500, chuck in the govt credits and cost is now about the same as it was 5yrs ago for a quarter…
How did you get the additional $250?
Electricity provider $150 sign up bonus, gas provider $100 sign up bonus. This is on top of the $250 from this offer from Ecoonex.
Which energy supplier gives the $150 + $100 signup bonus?
@dealsgrabber: Do you want me to click through, enter your address, and look at the results for you? If so please send me your name address and credit card details. Or you can click the link and see the results for yourself.
@blade1981: No need to be a Cnut. They were probably just interested in knowing the name of the supplier (who's offering a good sign up bonus), which you could have supplied. We all know that the results are based off the postcodes.
Can someone explain, all I need to go is switch using their website to a provider which I like and is cheap?
I recently switched from Engie BF deal to powershop as they totally ripped me off. Now I am with Power, what should be the next switch.
Help before I mess up.
Would also investigate if the new provider would offer a better deal if you mention Econnex and deal with them direct.
Or even message the customer retention team with your current provider to see if they can do something, possibly additional discount.
Probably more certain than the tracking link.
Engie was a rip off. I am not sure how to qualify for this deal on ecconx
hard to advise without knowing your location
Sydney
You need to input your postcode at the prompt on the Econnex site and it'll give you some recommendations. Was very accurate for me at my location in victoria (unlike government comparison sites)
@sqheaven: you're getting the bonus for switching, i guess it depends on your consumption as to the benefit for short term churns
If you want to accurately compare different offers, input your consumption, solar feed-in and no of days data covering an entire year (or better still multiple years), so you're comparing for all seasons. If you only upload a single bill, you’ll likely get a skewed result.
Does this stack with cashbacks? (topcashback) etc?
No
Just noticed that the only place that says "one off $150" is with Powershop as the gas and their rates are the worst so do check that. Its not for the entire list of retailers!!
that's just an extra credit that you get from Powershop on top of your econnex prepaid. Please read the terms carefully before making some broad statements as econnex has been proven to be a good churner for these utility bills in Ozbargain many times
Tx for confirming this.
Some plans showing signup credit also. Does that mean signup credit from the supplier + prepaid mastercard from Econnex?
And as above, stacking with Topcashback too? Would be great to get all 3!
I would assume if it doesn't state one off as many of them don't show it, then there's no gift card?
Sign up credit + prepaid MasterCard from econnex. Cashback won't work since if you wanted cashback, you would have to go with the Cashback specific link and not the econnex link(which is different). Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong (or if there's a workaround). I've tried getting the Cashback in the past and has never worked. I've only got the sign up credit and econnex gift cards.
Called Econnex, Signup credit from the supplier is separate and on the top of the prepaid Mastercard (from Econnex).
So yes Win Win!
while churning suppliers, I find the new rates are always a bit higher.
Just realised that not all suggestions come with $150 + $100.
Only Powershop is eligible for both electricity and gas, and only $150 + $50.
Are all providers the same in terms of reliability (i.e. not going to have more/less outage)? Since they only do billing, the distributors don't change (e.g. Ausgrid, Jemena in NSW).
You need to read the T&Cs again mate.
How long is this deal likely to be available for? I haven't used Econnex before. Can I wait one month? Or, can I switch electricity now and gas in one month? Thanks.
you could switch now via the econnex site and then tell the new providers you want to transfer at the next billing cycle
thanks OP, switched to PowerShop for $150 sign up credits plus $150 econnex
Has anyone "switched" to the same provider they are currently with, and received the giftcard bonus?
Do you have to switch electricity and gas in one go? or can you do it in separate transactions?
Now on CashRewards if you prefer your signup bonus as cashback.
You must remain with Econnex Energy for a minimum term period of 75 days to be eligible for cashback.
FYI tried to sign up with alintaenergy and got a message a couple days later that they could not process it because of a "credit check". Credit score is good so they may be blocking churners? Looked around and see others that had the same issue.
So may be best to avoid them to not waste time.
avoid ecconex or Alinta Energy?
Any ideas when this will end?
Planning to sign-up on Saturday.
Promotion available on qualifying Energy plan applications Starting from 26th February 2025 (“Promotional Period”) and may be withdrawn at any time by Econnex Comparison. Econnex Comparison retains the right to change or alter the terms of this offer.
Signed up today and received a review promotion sms:
Customers who publish a review on Google or Trust Pilot or ProductReview for Econnex Comparison will receive a $20 Woolworths Bonus Store eGift Card.
Hi - can someone please advise what happens if you leave after the first invoice but still haven't got the gift card from econnex? Will they still give that after sometime or do we not get that anymore? Thanks
Hi, mentioned many times above. If you stay for the required time (30-45 days) you will receive the gift card. However, card will arrive only after aprox. 120 days.
Does the $75 rebate from the Gov get transferred to your next supplier if not fully used?
Yes, I received it in the form of a refund.
Signed up again with Powershop for the 3rd time in 5 months. Hopefully I still get the $150 credit from Powershop. They are easily the cheapest provider along with Alinta in my area, so switching back and forth between them works well with these Econnex deals.
However, I'm still waiting for the $200 Mastercard from the January deal. Has anyone received theirs yet?
I think it's 110+ days now, so they have to be here soon?
Still waiting
Still waiting
Still waiting.
Still waiting
not bad considering the connection time is 30 days now. the last deal required you to be connected for 45 days and the one before that.
