Targeted to New Customers
Depends on how eBay defines or recognises a new customer.
Shots fired?
I was not targeted.
Targeted
My plus expired some time ago so this worked for me thanks OP, then I had a $10 with a plus-code to buy something from my watch list.
I was Targeted.
you deserve a BigL for this one..
I got it as well. Previous eBay plus member, cancelled a while ago.
my previous membership elapsed for few weeks, didnt do anything and i just got it as well.
Worked for me. Been a member plenty of times in the past. Thanks OP
Shows to me that there will be a 40$ coupon upon joining, but with a minimum spend of 150$. Previously had ebay plus.
Mine is this too. Last had eBay+ probs a year ago. Clearly targeted.
Mine expired in April. I can get the offer from link on the OP.
Might be targeted to users who had plus expired recently.
Same
Thanks Op. I got it, and my eBay Plus membership was cancelled some time ago.
I was happy to pay for eBay plus when they gave free FVF offers but they hardly ever do any more
got the text message, last membership was canceled Dec 24.
I was not targeted :(

Seems like I was eligible (cancelled ebay plus/didn't renew several weeks ago).
Thanks OP.
for 10 bucks I'm in… again :) thanks Op
my plus just exp 3 days ago… no offer yet… give me this price or i wont renew..
Worked for me
Mine says $49 a year
coz you are special :)
mine is $49
Yeah me too. Mine expired 2 years ago.
I can't see how much longer eBay can compete with other ecommerce or how it can sustain its business model.
Let me break it down. The delivery time is slower (i'm still waiting for my delivery, it's been 3 weeks), the deals are rare, the communication with some sellers can be terrible and most importantly the items are more expensive than other places.
I agree. They totally deviated from what made them great at first. They're just another market place now, with artificially inflated pricing to counter their promotions. I use them, but not much nowadays.

All in your opinon, I have not experienced this.
eBay isn't going anywhere.
Ebay sell things which aren't available on Amazon eg car parts from Sparesbox.
They have sales almost every month and you don't need a minimum spend to get free delivery on a lot of small value items under $50. If you get Ebay plus, the the number of free delivery items is greatly increased, not to mention a lot will be delivered express with plus.
Delivery time of almost 3 weeks? Never had it happen ever, even when purchasing items from overseas. Deliveries from the east coast to Sydney rarely take longer than 3 days even without Ebay plus.
Also if you sell things, they often have 50% postage of 3 items a month or final value fees.
Whenever I've had a genuine issue with a product, ie not as described, damaged, counterfeit etc. It was always resolved without issue.
"Sapresbox" just triggered some memories from a while ago.
I ordered three times from them over the span of six months, different parts each time. It said in-stock at the time of ordering but they email a few days later to wait a few weeks for the stock to arrive. Had to cancel the order each time.
Swore not to touch them ever again. It's been 3 years, or maybe more. Not sure if the things have improved since.
@Secret ID: Lol yeh, I had the same experience a few years back. It took over a month for 1 order, which they were supposed to have in stock.
The last few orders which I made in the second half of last year arrived within the estimated time frame. 2 items which they had in stock arrived in 2 days and another which they had to source from their supplier took about a week, but as mentioned earlier, I knew it was going to take around that time before purchasing.
Not recommending them or anything, but gave them another chance and they appeared to have improved. Also go this email from them in November last year.

Might give them a chance again if I need something.
Aliexpress do 10 days or less tracked delivery on most things
Many eBay items are identical but massively more expensive.
eBay = bad value now
Every aliexpress parcel I've received seems likes it's been through the spin cycle of a washing machine.
Even at a 50% dump rate aliexpress is still cheaper 😅
bought quite a few things recently… exact items, 50% + less from AliExpress
our last ali express delivery took less than a week.
I'm not getting it, but it offers a $40 coupon. I won't sign up unless I'd have an opportunity to use it. I rarely use eBay plus, because in WA you don't get much benefit.
Previous times I signed up, I paid $1, or got more value in coupon than I paid. When I wasn't subscribed, I'd pay for 1-month subscription. Many people don't realise that if you only use it a few times a year, that's a cheap way to do it. No need for a 1-year subscription.
Do you need to chat with them to get that $40 coupon?
It shows as a banner for me.
$40 on $150 min spend ?
Yeah, looks like it. Not amazing. Don't think I'll be buying anything worth that much off eBay soon.
Yeah I reckon $10 for a year of Ebay Plus is about what its worth these days.
Not targetted, eBay plus lapsed some time ago.
Isn’t that the definition of targeted?
Got the offer. Cheers
Not even worth it for me. I think they are struggling.
Do other Ozbargainers still find a lot of value/deals on ebay? Personally I switched to mostly Aliexpress, Amazon and individual sellers, and my ebay purchases have gone down to around zero in the past year or so.
What's your expenrice with Aliexpress?
Extremely positive, although I read the ads and check every store's history and feedback very carefully before buying. If I have any doubt, I contact the sellers and ask questions, they usually reply within 24h. Pretty much the same approach I used in the past on ebay to avoid any issue.
I tried to claim on a warranty within the warranty period for a Sofirn torch/flashlight and they asked me to send a video. The video showed me pressing the power button, the button lighting up showing the battery level, but no light being emitted from the LED, which demonstrated the fault. They kept asking me to show the fault even though I had, and when I asked them what I could do, to demonstrate the fault, they just ignored me. This was the response from Aliexpress customer service, not some random seller.
So good for cheap items, but if you're expecting any warranty support, I'm not sure how forthcoming it will be.
FWIW I had no issues with the few claims I made, as the ads sometimes have some inaccuracies with the info and specs listed, but they were all made not too long after the purchase.
@RiseAndRuin: I glad it worked out for you, but it appears you had an issue with receiving an item not as described.
I've returned 2 items for change of mind for free returns and there was no issue.
However for a faulty item within the 1 yr warranty period, if they had just informed me it wasnt covered due to a legitimate reason I wouldnt consider it a negative experience. Instead they just played along and acted like I wasnt providing adequate evidence, when I clearly had. So i do consider it a negative experience. Its also compounded with the fact that initally the CS agent viewed the footage and agreed there was an issue and they escalated it. Once escalated they started playing their games.
@Notatightass: From memory, the only thing that stopped working was an oxymeter, which they refunded very quickly.
it appears you had an issue with receiving an item not as described.
Most of the time, that was the kind of issues I had, but for expensive items I definitely agree that they do require a lot of evidence and they might do some push back, as I'm told a lot of people try to scam them.
@RiseAndRuin: It was a $50 item and when i asked what i need to show in the video, they don't respond. Its a video of the torch with me pressing the power button on and off, its not complicated.
+1,
Amazon for tmr
Ali if no rush
$40 voucher with a minimum spend of $150.
Any expiry? Used to be short expiry without minimum spend.
Voucher. If you satisfy the Conditions set out in clause 4 above, the Voucher will be issued to Your eBay.com.au account from 16 July 2025. The Voucher is not transferable.
Voucher expiry. The Voucher is valid from the date of issue and will expire 30 days from the date of issue (“Validity Period”).
I guess it's similar to mine (not sure of minimum spend). Have to keep checking when the voucher arrives on the account, which I didn't, or it's too late before finding out the voucher is expired already, which happened to me.
Worked for me, great - thanks!
Lapsed a few years now, and it doesn't work for me.
welcome to "eBay forgot us, but idc" club
I never used my ebay account created in 2021, still shows $49 per year.
Any way to do 9.99 ?
I got the text this morning and went to sign-up. However, as I had an active (monthly) subscription - I had re-signed up for the first time in months to get my daughter the recent UGG Boots deal here - that was due to expire on 25 May, it wouldn't work.
I went to the online chat and told them I had received an offer but was unable to take advantage of it. They were very helpful and explained it was because I had an active subscription (albeit one that I had cancelled) but had two options:
Confirmed I wanted them to fully cancel so I could take the offer now as I wasn't sure if it would be still available in a couple of weeks. It was all done and dusted within 2 minutes after that.
Thought I would share in case anyone else in the same / similar position.
edit: corrected to the right UGG deal link
Doesn’t work for me too. Only the $40 voucher is available.
For me, the main value add for eBay plus was the $0 final value fee monthly promos, which have dried up since September last year.
Don't see a point even paying $10 for it now!
free postage is good as well, but even that has dried up
Thanks OP got the offer.
You can cancel straight away too and keep it for the year.
You can cancel straight away too
Why would you do that?
To not get stung with $49 auto-renewal next year
I cancelled back in Feb, still getting $49.
Even at $9.99 I can't see value in it. Unfortunately many sellers don't honour the 'Express shipping' part of eBay plus despite being signed up for it. They still continue to ship with regular postage meaning packages are taking 1-2 weeks vs 1-2 days with Amazon.
many sellers don't honour the 'Express shipping' part of eBay plus
Many ????
I've never come across this. Not even once…
More than half of the sellers I used didn't ship express. When I queried them about it they just said "Oh our system can't tell whether the order was done with eBay Plus or not".
How convenient for them
@jmc787: I know right? No idea how true it is, but either way, the fact that it 'can' happen means I have zero faith that my parcels will be shipped express. Even then, Amazon gets mine there the next day which is just 100x better.
Made me go look at cancelling mine again and got the usual $30 offer to say. Good enough haha
Thank you, that worked
$30 voucher to be used within 30 days of payment. Too rushy for me, continued with cancel.
Also is there a minimum spend associated with the $30 voucher ?
good find…
I cancelled a few months ago, but didn't get any text or email…
I'd rather a cheap renewal than a $40 - $50 voucher with a ridiculous min purchase that expires in a month.
Received an email earlier today and snagged the deal For $10 it certainly represents a return on investment
i have had no luck :(
mine plus expired last month and link is only giving 4.99pm or 49 per year
Me too. Unfortunately not this time. Mine ended last month.
was previously on ebayplus, cancelled a couple months ago.
received the text at 12:32pm today about the offer
found the offer on my ebay account and signed up with no issues
Got the offer, had ebay plus annual that expired in November 2024.
Same here,
mine expired last Nov 2024 and I never renewed it. I click on the link and it shows the $9.99 option.
Will take up the offer as you only need a few deals or bargains to recoupe it as too any returns if need be for various things.
Mine expired in December 2024 and I didn't get the offer.
Worked for me, mine expired dec last year. Most sellers Ive used arent plus so dont know how useful ut is to me.
Worked for me! (lapsed a few months ago)
I don't know what people do with this membership, mine is due for renewal soon
