I've found that my Made in Australia ones last way longer than the Ugg Express made in china variants.

What makes these Ugg exactly? They look like Kmart slippers.

    • UGG is just sheepskin boots

      • +8

The American brand is not the original Ugg.

        • -1

The US brand is the original UGG, they bought the trademark from an Australian.

          https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UGG_(brand)

      • The American UGGs are also made in China

This style of uggboots suck tbh. You want uggboots for warmth, this is not the time for a slipon. Get zip up ones if you must.

Also, i found on ozbargain a couple years ago proper ugg boot brand selling these slip ons for 10 or 20 bucks. Can't remember exactly, but the grip in the sole was attrocious :(

I am a fan of quality over cheapness when it comes to long term objects but, any advice for a decent pair of ugg boots would be appreciated.

Ps. this is not to rag on OP's deal, I just thought I should share my thoughts.

    • Agree, and I think calling this type of footwear "slippers" is a stretch. I don't know if there's a proper word to describe them, around my home these are called scuffs, not slippers.

      • Scuffs. Perfect for Qld, because after a time regular ones might get too toasty, so taking your feet out or partially you can control the freezing 20 degree weather.

        • Nah, thongs are better for 20 degrees. Change to slippers (not scuffs) when it gets to 16 degrees.

Personally I love this style because my feet get too hot in slippers or uggs.

No size 12 or over. Only for small people.

    • You mean normal people.

  • -1

Only sizing for ladies and midget men..

    • They've either added more or you misread.

      • They only go up to men's 11

        • +1

          definitely midget sizes.

  • Why is there no size 13 for males, I've been looking for something like this

  • -5

it uses animal skin so i am out

  • I got Made in Aus uggs, they are tattered up and sole is well worn but they are still going strong after 5 constant winter wears.

  • +1

Hmm… no more monthly $5 off for plus member? Or it wont stack

    • +2

It wouldn't stack regardless, can't apply 2 discount codes.

UGG since 1974 is the only brand we should support

    • +1

Because they have had their name and design ripped off by everyone?
This design has been around awhile if you think Eskimo or Russian ,
deep snow type places and the name is probably more the issue, and some American company suing to force the original company that first used the synonymous name “Ugg” to limit their marketing and sales to inside Australia,
as well as all the other rip off artists using the name.

      • The US brand is the original UGG, they bought the trademark from an Australian.

        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UGG_(brand)

        • “Bought the trademark” and created or own the original design are not quite the same thing.

So yes, “UGG Australia™” is the original owner of the brand “UGG™”, in some jurisdictions. lol.

But what they filed for/bought/own is just a brand name (a US trademark) - it’s not the design itself (a patent), or even the word itself. Nobody owns the design itself, and nobody owns the word.

It’s well recognised that people have made sheepskin booties, and even called them uggs, as a generic, non-trademarked, simple word prior to that brand slapping a trademark on in the USA.

And mind you - I say “in the USA” because it is not recognised here at all. Aussie courts recognised that the phrase is generic/pre-existing, so have not allowed it to be patented. It’s like trying to trademark “spoon” or “bicycle.” It’s just a generic word. It’s been used since the 50s.

          • @haemolysis: You obviously didn't read the post or know the background.

An Australian who had made UGG boots before 1974 trademarked it. "In 1971, Shane Steadman registered the trademark UGH-BOOT on the Australian Trade Mark Registry, and obtained an Australian registration for UGH in 1982. These registrations remained valid in Australia until they got removed for non-use in 2006". Your effort to make it sound like a US trademark that is hurting the 'little Aussie battler' is the same bullshit claims by Eddie Oygur or Todd Watts that it's a 'moral' or unfair practice. Watts wasn't even born by 1974, FFS.

  • Ahh ok , I knew there was more to it.
So why is everyone wanting to support the 1974 Ugg ?
I can see the appeal in these things if you lived in Melbourne 20years ago.
But it’s peak bogan wearing them in public now .
Unless I missed the everything old is new again cycle.
