    Waiting for Cashrewards Cashback Increase

  • +1

10% is approximately Ebays fees markup - this means that this promotion actually costs them nothing in lost revenue, but Ebay goods are often dearer due to all the fees and risks for the sellers.

    • fees are closer to 6-10%, probably less for bigger business.. My fees are just under 8% and i'm a sole trader

still, it generates a buying frenzy, and good for big ticket items like tv's

      • +1

Perhaps you have a better deal but whenever I sell something on Ebay, the fee is ~9.9%.
And that is before PayPal fees.

        • I setup my Ebay as a sole trader. its a $19.95 monthly fee but reduced fees to 8%, but every monthly statement it comes out closer to 6.5-7% so i cant complain

        • @berger:
I recently sold a laptop. It was $350 new in the box. I paid Ebay ~$34.50 and PayPal another ~$9.50 so that was $44 in fees before shipping costs. After shipping and insurance I got $275 or something close to that actually in my bank.
These fees have to come from somewhere so businesses add them to the price on Ebay. You can notice it most with tech goods where margins are slim.

        • @King Tightarse: businesses are not paying ear that much on their business plans

        • @berger:
How does the fee percentage come out lower? Are you including seller promo rates or something?

        • @mskeggs:

I don't know, I do sell a few items that are over $2500, which the eBay fees are capped at $250, so that bring the percentage down.

I get 200 free listings a month too, so maybe that brings it down a little.

Not really good. But thanks for letting us know….

    • yeah, no ones interested in this deal at all, 324+ and coutning

      • -1

Compare to the 20% off before this is nothing.

Feebay has gone downhill, this sale is minimum $100 far worse

Your do know people just + any eBay deals on ozbargain right? The word eBay has magic.

Next time 5% off go ahead and + it. And I won't even bother commenting

        • But the 20% of was with selected retailers who almost always jacked up their prices on eBay before the deal started. This is 10%of almost everything on eBay. It's s compromise.

        • You see the specific retailer one is after the all eBay 20% promotion before, which is by far the best one. They have slowly made the offer less attractive

        • +1

          @neonlight:
I don't disagree that previous 20% off everything deals were superior, but 10% off everything is still a useful deal.
There are many items where ebay is the price leader even with its high fees.

  • +1

next time might be 5% off only

    • and $200 purchase minimum, since lack of eBay sellers now they have to make things looking good with these promotions.

eBay should call it the "WE PAY YOUR GST SALE"

    • +2

GST not payable for private sales…

      • -1

yes well anyone making 75k a year has to pay GST on it

        • True, but that is still the minority.

        • yes well anyone making 75k a year has to pay GST on it

This makes no sense at all. What does someone making 75k a year have to do with paying GST on their income? Sounds like you're confused with how the GST works.

        • @Maverick-au: it seems YOU are the one who is confused

If you are carrying on an enterprise and your annual turnover exceeds AU$75,000, the legislation requires that you register for GST.

        • +2

          @Makoto:

@Maverick-au: it seems YOU are the one who is confused

Not really, you first claimed that anyone making 75k a year has to pay GST on it which isn't true especially when you were responding to someone who was talking about private sales. You further went on and said that anyone carrying on an enterprise and has a turnover exceeding 75k has to register which also isn't correct.

If you are carrying on an enterprise and your annual turnover exceeds AU$75,000, the legislation requires that you register for GST.

The actual wording is a BUSINESS or ENTERPRISE has a turnover excluding GST of $75,000. A private person selling on ebay does not have to register for the GST if they are selling off private possessions.

The turnover figure is also for sales IN Australia, if you run a business that turns over $70,000 per annum locally and millions overseas you do not need to register for the GST.

You also do not include the sales of assets, sales to close a business or if you are reducing the size of your stock.

The list goes on with many other exclusions. So your claim in the context of the question regarding a private seller is not correct.

TRS already has me covered ;)

    • GST is probably increasing to 15% soon, can we get 15% off?

      • vote liberals out people!! if they win.. up goes the GST after the election.

        • +5

if voting made a difference, it wouldn't be allowed :(

        • @Charity: wonderfully pessimistic

        • @tomkun01:
Indeed, it's about all we have left. Look how scared the mainstream media/establishment is in the UK with Corbyn or the USA with Trump or less-so Sanders.

        • @mskeggs: To me, politics is like the stock market. What may seem as true may be an elaborate hoax. There are too many unknowns for me to trust any politicians, parties or media outlets.

  • You saved AU $75.99 on this purchase

    • What did you buy for $760?

      • +1

Ipad 2 air cellular. cheapest anywhere before was $729 a month ago, and $759~ anywhere else

    • You spent AU $760 on this purchase

      Losing

      • True. Ozbargainers like to think theyve saved money by buying expensive things they dont need, but will never admit it to themselves.

        • You are correct, I didn't need it. its a gift, but thank you for your contribution too

      • +2

I bought a gift for my mum, she done a lot for me, not exactly losing, saved heaps off any other price I had seen. It's a win, not sure why you made this completely pointless comment.

any recommended seller for S5 or LG G4 with best price?

    • +4

If you can wait, I'd suggest waiting a little longer for the G4 . The G5 is rumoured to be launched in February 2016 which should help your cause. Ebay might have another 20% off deal to help between now and then (fingers crossed).

      • +7

yeah keep waiting until G9 out

      • Will the G5 be under $500 by March? Otherwise you cant compare them.

    • Take a look at Kogan tomorrow if you can accept grey market. They have responded to past % discount sales with great prices. Of course, you get the kogan 'service'.

    • FYI
If you are planning on rooting/custom rom LG G4 , beware of buying the Taiwanese version. My friend bought the Taiwanese version and having trouble Rooting it properly.

To their credit, in the picture APMEX shows these bars with rounded edges and scratches. Yes, that is how they arrive. For this kind of money, I would prefer something that looked like it wasn't kicked down a stairwell. They aren't impressive is what I'm saying. For just holding on to, gold is gold, I guess."
