Does it moonlight as a Super Nintendo?

    • For that price, it better play wii u games too.

I really wouldn't bother with this unit. Its old and noisy (but it cleans ok). I can't believe its still available for sale. I've had two of this particular model over about 5 years. (X21 and X12 which is essentially the same). Got them from Amazon for around $300-$350AUD. Even with a discount paying anything more than $350 is FAR too much for the X21.
You would be better off getting one of the newer Neato models which clean better due to the side brush, are much quieter and the batter lasts longer. I got the D80 from Amazon US when on sale for ~ $600-630 and that was wen the AUD was under US70c. Amazon frequently has the unit for sale and delivers to Australia. You can also get the D70 which is even cheaper (difference is the brush which it comes it - the D80 is useful for pets whereas the D70 is a generic brush which works on most surfaces including carpet).

Agree. I bought this unit about 2 years ago for around $320 from Amazon.
It's decent enough, but yeah… Wouldn't be spending anywhere near $500 for one.

    • When I bought mine about 5 years back, AimToFind.com was offering the best price+shipping to Australia. My unit needs a new pair of batteries now.

      • So you have been using the vacuum for more than 5 years without any issue until now ? How do you know that you need a new battery, for my interest ?

        • The robot vacuums until its battery is low. It then returns to its base station charger. Once it is fully charged it resumes vacuuming from where it left. Now that the battery is dead it vacuums for less than a minute before looking for the base station again.

          @ThePasserby:

Replacing the battery on them is dead easy. Plenty of spares online and Ebay. I did this twice in the lifespan of the oldest XV I had. They seem to last about 18-24 months before showing signs of fatigue.

  • I had one replaced just a month after delivery from Amazon, Amazon was happy to send replacement and refund the postage of resending the faulty unit back. But once the warranty is over, they don't want to know about it. And as I was told, even though it is still under warranty, because I had claimed once, I have to pay for sending the faulty unit back to them, which was $200+. Good unit though, only last 1 year and a bit for me. To repair or diagnose the faulty, I have to send it to NSW and bear with all related cost.

    • It is the luck of the draw but considering the savings on the XV units a few years ago it was defiantly a risk worth taking. Luckily our units just needed fresh batteries once in a while. The oldest one is still going but the 3.5 year old one is having issues with recharging now and even new batteries didn't make any difference. Definitely not worth repairing it.

    • Do you still have the repairer's details? The screen on mine is dead. However still works fine.

      • I haven't used a local repairer. You could find parts online (eBay ???) and do it yourself if you know your way around a screwdriver :)

        • The problem is that if you know which part to fix. Mine was whooshing and then rewhooshing and stop with message my vision was blocked. From online forums and Neato, no one can be sure which part to be replaced. Can be battery, motor or the laser.

        • @yht:

I was specifically talking about the dead display. The issue with blocked vision is a troublesome problem.

        • @soupratt: Agree with you

  • Looks like they are getting the stock as WA stores will have the stock from 30/12

  • I won't buy another robot vacuum cleaner until it can clean my house fully 5+ times without needing emptying.

The navibot S has an extra dustbin at the base that crap is sucked into, which means you only need to clean that once every couple weeks.
But from all the reviews I've seen it isn't anywhere near as good as a roomba, and gets caught on the tiniest rugs.

Roomba, make a self emptying one plz and I'll buy it.

      Get a smaller house

    • Then you probably need one that carries its own trailer. Seriously, these units are designed to be compact so they fit under beds, furniture etc. Increasing the dustbin capacity will impact all of that. We can usually get through around 2 cleans on the D80 (which has a bigger bin than the older XV) before needing to empty it.

      • No there's a bigger dustbin at the base that the small dustbin automatically empties into when it goes back to the dock. I want that functionality in a roomba.

        • Yes I know. But I have seen what gets picked up on carpet especially and it isn't just a matter of turning the bin upside down. Often a lot of the fluff needs to be washed or vacuumed out and the filter also cleaned.

        • @soupratt:

Yes and my point was I want all of that to be automatically completed as it took way too much effort with my roomba.

Just don't buy an LG one, we call ours dorothy because it can't find it's way back home.
