Pioneer 6.5" 6-1/2" 2 Way Car Speakers TS-G1645R JB Hi Fi $37.80 ($21.20 off)

120

I was after a cheap set of 6.5" speakers to replace the tired rear OEM paper cone 1 ways in my Hyundai Accent (stop that laughing) and I saw these. It's a great price, worse used speakers are going for more on eBay. Plenty of stock near me (3165), hopefully for anyone else who needs them. 250W max 40W RMS.

  • I didn't know that there was a JB in 3165, do you mean Brighton store?

    • Well when I typed in my postcode into their website, every store near me showed stock. Like I said, plenty of stock near me.

  • +8

That just doubled the value of the accent.

    • Driving it to Brighton JB?

      • Nope..putting new speakers in.

  • JB has 30% off car audio…

    • This is 36% off.

  • Where do buy the 6.5"Speaker Door adapter for accent?

  • What sort of efficiency/sensitivity are they? Often "upgrading" stock speakers without an amp leaves the system quiter.

    • 89db, generally the lower lines are ok in this department, buying entry level speakers and needing to Amp them isn't realistic. As always ignore the power ratings they quote.

Focal have a very efficient speaker for stock upgrades, however it's also significantly more expensive.

  • I'm guessing here, but I think a lot of it is governed by the RMS rating - the "continuous average power rating".

I have a 4x45 head unit, and these speakers are 40W RMS, the fronts are 30W RMS, the sound is OK, better than stock, but because these are 2 ways I'm finding the highs are too sharp/crisp, even with the treble turned down a fair bit. The old speakers were 1 way paper cones and had a certain "warmth" to them.

    • Your Head Unit is likely around 10-15wrms, at best. It'd be ample to run these fine. Every speaker will have different characteristics. I'd suggest avoiding any bass boost features if your HU has it too.

Those power ratings aren't to be trusted, they quote them in varying conditions. Home Theatre Receivers are just as bad too.
