Yea… I am very tempted. I have liquidated my gear (standard gear, wide-zoom, 24-70L, super tele, 2 flash) some time ago due to a lack of use… and now… tempted by such a well priced full frame body… FML… eBay incriminates me.

      • The limited focus dot is a bit annoying. I'm used to focus & reframe, but wow it's a fair bit of reframe. Either way, I've been extremely happy with the output, I used to have a lot of post processing but for family events which need quick final products I find the color reproduction excellent, and I just export with minimal processing!

    Wow, what a price. 1749 price - $262 (15% discount) - $300 (nikon cashback) - $70 (4% cashreward) - $157 (TRS claim) makes it AUD 959 only!!! A full frame body!

    • Now now… find a lens + flash deal :D

eBay is converting me as an ex-Canon shooter to Nikon.

      • Lens is what kills the deal for full frame bodies, they are much more expensive then the crop frame equivalents :(

          50mm f/1.8G is less than 250$ (all around/bokeh).

        • @bargainaus: A month ago, it was around 164 (if I remember correctly, after $35 nikon cashback)

But again, you will require a regular zoom lens with it. The most basic one (nikon 24-85) costs around $600

I'm still poor to buy this…

    • the D3300 is a good deal.
a good photo is a good photo whether it is taken with a fx or dx sensor.

      • I got the DSE D5500 deal earlier this month. Now I itch for 50% more field of view of a Full Frame…

        • tell me how wide you would like and lets see if we can find a good deal on ebay.

        • @BuyoTheCat: Nah. The inner oz-bargainer in me will never cave in to shell out more than 500$ on a camera…

I am just playing the devil's advocate here.

You can get the sigma 10-20mm f3.5 or a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for around $500 right now on ebay with the discount.

I know you can resist it.
I am trying to resist buying as well.

        • @BuyoTheCat: I will give this a pass, will use the D5500 for next 3 years at least.

Pity I just bought a Flash few days ago, could have gotten the YN-568 for the same price I paid for YN-565…

  • I am so tempted as will also be able to claim TRS refund on 10th Jan
Will this be the cheapest I will ever get a full frame for?
What basic FX lenses would I need (I want to do city landscapes at night)?

    • From my experience over the deals in the past year, it's one of the cheapest price you can get for a full frame body from Australian resellers.

Lens choice is tricky. For city landscape at night, one of the best choice would be 24-70 VR f2.8, but thats very expensive. For basic lens, anyone would prefer the 50mm f1.8 G lens, and the nikon 24-85 lens.

      Go wide. Find a good second hand wide… 1x - 35mm, or 1x - 20mm.

Since you have asked the question, I am assuming you know little about the top end glasses (ie. Canon L). So it won't matter to you as much.

Look for a cheap second hand wide lens (tokina, sigma, tamron) for $1xx from ebay/gumtree for a taste, and then invest on what suits you.

However, invest in a good tripod. People prefer manfrotto, i find benro tripods are very steady without the manfrotto premium.

  • Jb hifi is for 1566 with 150jb gift card plus 300cashback.

    • They are not on ebay. Would be nice to get Ted's to price match.

  • Excellent deal. This may be my next DSLR Camera as I like to buy a affordable full frame Camera. Probably in 1 years time..

  • Thanks for your feedback guys
Still 50/50 on pulling the trigger 😄

  • What is a TRS refund? is the 150 voucher?
