  • has anyone tried this?

    • +1

Yeah, I've had it for about 9 months now. It's fantastic. My teeth feel cleaner and it's easy to use. Would recommend 10/10.

      • I was really considering though just looked and I dont have a power point near my sink. Really want one though

        • The battery lasts like 8-12 hours iirc. The timer thing jsut uses AAA batteries and sticks to the wall.

        • +3

Best to dry it off after each use and keep it away from the sink anyway - moisture makes these things go mouldy.

        • @Powershopz: This is very tempting, A lot of money for a toothbrush

        • @dylanando: I've had mine for about 10 months now, I don't use any other brushes or modes besides the floss action head and regular clean mode. It's pretty expensive because its the top of the line toothbrush for oral b, reckon you could get the cheaper ones which are the same but without the gimmicky features.

        • I dont have a power point near my sink. Really want one though

          Nobody does - it's illegal.

Which is exactly why these toothbrushes are CORDLESS.

        • @llama:

It isn't illegal, it depends on how many litres the sink holds.

        • @llama: I meant it so it can charge on the table next to the sink and they're defiently powerpoints near the sink. My ensuite is the only one that ive never seen with one.

        • @dylanando:

Just charge elsewhere. We don't leave our chargers on display in the bathroom, as they look uber-ugly and the cords are messy.

  • Why are these so expensive when a Braun one is like $40?
I don't mean cheap either, the Braun ones seem kinda good, I replaced my first one after a decade,… last year.

Number of oscillations a minute, also 3D cleaning action…

There's a website comparing features amongst models - animated teeth I believe it's called

      • Does 3D really actually make much difference?

I am still using the oral B cheap vitality one. Works OK for me now.

Don't know if I will feel much different with the upgrade.

        • +1

Do yourself a favour, find a someone who has top of the range(oral B 5000, 7000) toothbrush and try(with your own toothbrush head of course). You will be surprised at the difference between those basic vs top of the range model.

        • @none: I think you will find it hard to find someone that is willing to lend you their toothbrush. I might be wrong.

Good pickup, I got one a while ago on an Amazon sale and have never regretted it.

I've got the PC5000 with no bluetooth. Isn't that always the way, you buy a toothbrush and it's obsolete 12 months later.

    • Much like mobiles!

    • Lost track of how many times my toothbrushes have become obsolete over the years :(

    • I'd much rather have a longer battery life than Bluetooth, is a gimmick at best. It only holds the last 20 or so brushes, so you have to sync it to the app every week or prepare to lose the information. Great toothbrush, but takes ages to charge, easily 12 hours, and battery lasts only 10 days or so brushing 2 times at around 2 mins - so about 40mins brushing time.

I currently use the model down from this (5000) and am going to wait until P&G release a model with a lithium battery and not the NiMH garbage they're putting in these, which essentially make them a disposable toothbrush.

Be warned if you buy this that it will only take a few months before the battery only lasts 1-3 charges.

    • Think you got a dud. Mines about 9 months old.

Went to Sydney for a week and it got used by me and my wife 20 times no issues.

    • +2

I've had the 5000 for about three years, and it's still going strong. However, it goes back on the charger after every brushing. If you don't do that, then you do notice some loss of power (speed) after a few brushes without charging.

However, we recently got the 7000 (at $164, nooo!), and it is more powerful than the 5000. I'm not sure whether that's a difference between the models or just that the 5000 is so "old".

In any case, I would definitely recommend this toothbrush. At this price, it's a bargain.

      • +2

To add, my 5000 Triumph was good for about 3 years until the battery hit the point where I'd have to charge it every second use.

If you feel brave, there's tutorials out there on how you can replace the battery yourself. It does require you to use a soldering iron, but I managed to get by having not used one previously (well I did grab a cheapo kit from Jay Car to practice on first, but that's the extent of my soldering experience). The replacement batteries good for a few weeks now on a charge.

    • +2

I replaced the battery on my 5000 to a 2500mAh Eneloop, only need basic soldering skills. Now each charge would last for 3 weeks.

      • Will the size fit? I reckon the battery is a bit out shaped compared to regular AAs.

        • sorry typo, mine is 3000 not 5000, you will need to trim a little bit to fit AA size battery. but it definitely fits.

  • Bit off topic but as I noticed its a shaver shop item anyone recommend a good mens electric shaver? Dropped mine and its half broken so maybe time to upgrade. Thanks

    • I quite like my Braun 790cc. I also have an older Philips Tri-head rotary style one but find I prefer the Braun foil over the Philips head. It wasn't cheap, but I assume some of the lower down models would also work well.

From memory most of the companies (Braun, Philips etc) have a 30-60 day return policy when it comes to razors so if one style doesn't suit you could always return it. For example - http://www.braun.com/anz/promotions/money-back-guarantee-201…

  • I used to use Oral-B Pro 700 for a year and was want to upgrade to PC7000, but I change to Philips Sonicare DiamondClean. I like Philips better, because it is much gentle for the gum and I found it clean better too,
It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

    • This particular model has a sensitive clean with the appropriate brush head.

(I too bought one at 50% off at SS, so about $165).

Cheers dude needed a new one after the previous one's battery karked it.

  • thanks just got myself another one as my current ones battery is dying. has lasted 8 years though so pretty happy with it

  • Out of stock …😱

  • GF got this for me real cheap for around CAD $100. It is pretty good. I use it before going to bed, in the morning I prefer my $2 colgate zigzag :)

  • The PC3000 is the best value at $99
Has the same speed and pulse without the fancy screen.

Too bad the ebay voucher is for $150+

  • can someone recommend some replacement brush heads for these?

  • there goes $140 on a toothbrush, thanks ozbargain :>

  • thanks for sharing.
just bought 7000 series for my wife :)
i have 5000 series for 2 years and it is really good.
