Never mind, I worked it out…

  • +2

Bought a whiteboard/corkboard from officeworks a while back. Basically cardboard with a really thin sheet on top. Not sure if this is the same quality, but mine lasted about 5 minutes before warping and thin sheet bubbling.

    • +2

Passed by officerworks and checked them out. They are not the poor quality ones I describe. Bargain for $3.

  • Grabbed the last 2 from the Chadstone store (despite what it says online). They wouldn't scan as $3 though, had to show them the price online. Thanks TA.

    • +1

Awesome. Can you please tell us what the quality's like? Thanks.

      • Hmmm, it looks like I managed to pull a swifty and got the J Burrows version instead. It's much heavier than I expected but seems to be pretty good quality.

When I was checking out the guy mentioned that he'd had one that scanned at $3 instead so there might be more of the clearance version available at Chadstone (I had a good look around but couldn't locate them).

So let's not beat around the bush; you grabbed 2 $20 Whiteboards and used Smoke and Mirrors to claim they were the $3 versions. Welcome aboard http://imgur.com/BqGKxpw

        • $20 at punchbowl.

          @rawm:

Coming up on 7 years as an Ozbargainer so I don't have any money. But what I do have is a very particular set of skills. ;)

        • +1

@Naed: You could argue that theivery isn't a skillset; rather a mindset. But hey, whatever let's you sleep at night!

        • @rawm: yep, karma is a real force that dictates our lives.

        • +1

@Naed: Now you can use your new whiteboards to mindmap and brainstorm your way to more money!

        • +2

Sounds to me like Naed made a genuine mistake. I don't see the need to be harsh on him.

        • +2

          @Boba: Nice try Naed's alternate account ;)

        • @rawm:

Naed's Boba's much too nice of a guy to do that.

  • Not available at Highett :(

    • +1

Not true, they had about 60 left as of an hour ago.

      • Thanks. I called and was told they didn't have any.

      • Where were they?

        • +1

Unmarked Box close to whiteboards. I got 2 an hour ago, and couldn't see more, but didn't ask if they had more as only wanted 2.

        • @Gofast: you snooze, you lose :(

        • @Jar Jar Binks:

Box only held 6 - maybe they will bring out more now that box is empty?

        • +1

Yeah, they had trouble finding them. I got four, probably from the same unmarked box as Gogast, but when I called prior the lady from the store told me that the system was showing 64.

Sorry you didn't get one, perhaps call again and ask them to double check saying that you were misinformed and your friends bought some after you were told they didn't have any.

EDIT: Worth noting that the whiteboard markers and the magnetic erasers are quite pricey, I ended up ordering those on eBay from China for peanuts.

        • @Jar Jar Binks:

Attempted whiteboard purchase with intended purpose of New but Homemade avatar-brainstorming, Jar Jar Binks?

If the kids are all out of ideas, I'm sure that wicket1120 will help. Other than playing 'Life is Strange', maybe not doing much else.

For purposes of mischief, may I suggest adopting a certain 'turnip-based' gravatar. It remains up-for-grabs, at present.

Just like me, the 'wt' appears to still be 'vacationing' - in her case maybe travelling around and sampling subtle regional slurpee variation as she goes #turnipontour.

Maybe, for purposes of mischief, she'll adopt your old Spidey gravatar, if and when she returns.
I'll keep an eye out for that.

The Internet is meant, at best, to be about fun, in one form or another.
I'll keep an eye-out for that, too, this year.

          :-)

P.S. Best of luck with a whiteboard purchase. Unless you're some sort of horrendous stick-in-the-mud, you could, of course, just let them draw on the walls - or maybe Mum's recently purchased car. They would enjoy that. #appropriateschoolholidayactivities.

        • @Tas: Attempted whiteboard purchase was with the intended purpose of making a "gratitude board". Might look into getting them a corkboard each instead.

I would be surprised if your protégée is allowed to come back for the 5th (6th?) time.

        • @Jar Jar Binks:

More she as 'prodigal', maybe, for no longer being on OzBargain, than 'protégée'.

Apologies for the lack of niceties, earlier. Happy New Year. Trust, well.

I am a bit preoccupied. As contrast to spending too much time on the internet, not exactly a bad thing.

Glances around indicate that I haven't missed much on OzBargain, 'Now-No-Gravatar'-Jar-Jar. Maybe I'm just imagining an end-of-year, early-new, OzBargain malaise? Dick Smith shemozzle, notwithstanding.

I quite like a corkboard + Fun Fact: I once lived very near to a cork tree plantation in Canberra. Google says it's still there - http://www.davesact.com/2010/05/burley-griffins-cork-oaks.ht… despite fires. Good + nice.

I see that troublesome 'non-cork-maybe-willow'-wicket hasn't returned to OzBargain. Either she made an early resolution last year, or still has one to make.

          Regards to afore-alluded Princess V - and the J-Cubs.

I appreciate your ambivalence, but I doubt that the mods would hinder any return of a wandering wicket, or an occasionally, even intermittently, troubled, turnip.

        • @Tas: Happy New Year! Hope you're well and you're enjoying your 'vacationing' as much as we are :)

@Jar Jar Binks@Wiki: Thanks. I hope that various things are well at your end and that the year sees much to add to any collective gratitude board.

Someone's Spidey gravatar is back on-duty, I see. Endor/elsewhere, Babydoll Princess Leia still in-transit, it would appear.

          @Jar Jar Binks:
Hi and Happy New Year! If still wanting a gratitude board (cork one) keep a look out mid year for them at Aldi. I got a nice one last year for around $10 if memory serves. They also put a smaller one out later on. They may even do them soon when "Back to Work" week happens along. Also keep a look out at Kikki K for vision board kits, especially the "Cute" collection which is great for children.

        • @Miss Dior: Thank you:-)

          @Jar Jar Binks:
Just popped in to tell you this and too busy to stick around and reply to the comments I see await me, so apologies to Tas if you are reading this.

          Ask & ye shall receive…
Next week Aldi is having a deluxe cork board 900mm * 600mm $12.99 in black or white. These look just as nice as the Kikki K ones that cost about $50.

Big W had some cute ones for $29 that attached photos etc via pegs but they seem to have disappeared off the shelves immediately. You may be lucky in your area.

@Miss Dior: Thoughts with you re the trials and the tribs, Miss Dior.

  • +1

Just picked one up at O'connor. None on display. You have to look up on the first shelf where they store a bunch of stock. It did scan as $3.

  • Great find TA! Made me nostalgic about this deal (I bought 2!) Remember this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/137732

  • Sold out at punchbowl. Really sad.

  • Bondi Junction and Alexandria have them according to the store stock availability checker on their website.

  • Just cleaned Chirnside Park out of all 6 of their stock. Nunawading store apparently has 20+ left as of 6:30PM today

  • I wonder if the corkboard (same dimensions) is also $3. /jv

    EDIT: It is! http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/white-woode…

  • FYI… They also have this magnetic whiteboard on clearance for $5. I bought a few and I'm pretty impressed with the quality. Can confirm Greenacre still had stock, but you'll have to look up on top of their shelving where the whiteboards normally are (they were not stocked on the shelves).

Wud they transfer Greenacre to local for collection at my local 'works?

  • Anyone know if the $3 board is magnetic?

    • Yes it is :)

      • +1

But reports on this page say that it is very weak, and your magnets might slight down.
