Telstra Business SIM Only Plans Ie. $45/Mth with 7GB Data, $1200 Calls Included (24 Mth Plan)

190

I have my mobile SIM-Only plan ending in February- asked online if I could switch to this immediately, but no luck. Any tips?
Also note - I asked when this may expire - told it was unconfirmed - I see that Optus has an offer for a Pre-paid $40/Mth plan with 10GB of data (business or private use) expiring on the 4/1/16 - maybe it's just to be competitive with this offer?

Where does it say it's only $45/m?

This one is not as good but available for private use.

'I have my mobile SIM-Only plan ending in February- asked online if I could switch to this immediately, but no luck. Any tips?'

what about switching to 'lyca mobile' or lebara prepaid using $2 sim and then switch to Telstra plan you after.

On normal working day, switch over can be done in 2-3 hrs (sometimes quicker)

      • Okay, I'll look into it, thanks ;)

  • Seems pretty good, I pay like $60 for 2GB data and I dunno $1000 calls at Optus

Why not go with one of the Optus resellers? Amaysim has 2GB data and unlimited calls/texts for $30/month or Jeenee with 2.5GB and unlimited calls/texts for $25/month

      • Would rather just stay with one of the big 3 for phone. Have a friend who had a rough trot with getting service and billing resolved with Amaysim and never heard of Jeenee.

    • my current optus plan is 10GB per month, unlimted calls in australia, 300 mins to selected overseas, 12 month sign up.

Got an extra data share sim for $5 one-off …… my son uses that on his modem to tether his iPad …… I can't use 10GB of data in a month.

Once you hit $40 per month ….. you are on the "all you can eat" menu.

Sure, but that is Optus, not Telstra :)

  • FWIW the BYO casual plan (no contract)is $75 per month.
10 GB of data, unlimited talk and text.

It's for "New customers". I spent a few hours chatting with Telstra about it 2 weeks ago, New customers means you haven't been registered as a Telstra customer in the last 6 months….

  • Do these plans come with Google Play Credit?

  • Can't believe they don't want to jump at people like the OP willing to sign up to a 2 year contract……there's some good deals around, and will continue to do so.

  • Even the $60 deal is pretty good for the amount of data included and considering unlimited and it's for business use

  • Aside from the bit of data does it have an advantage over the unlimiteds which go 30% cheaper; against $540pa*2Y for no new phone. I'd miss any Play credit.

  • I'm guessing you need an ABN to get this business plan?

How is it new customers get much better deals than us who have been with them for years?

it's called the "lazy tax" if you don't ask for a review you keep paying what you have been.

I never understood why people willing sign up to a 24 mnth sim only contract.

Because telstra have the better coverage and they know it. most who take this plan then switch to another plan (also from telstra) will get their exit fees waived as you can move between plans for free.

they did have another plan $40 - 7GB pm and $60 - 10GB pm - but only for new users

      • better coverage is a generalised term …… it depends where you need coverage …… no point if a carrier has coverage where you don't need it, but poor coverage where you do.
Telstra was worse then optus where I need it in some areas so I switched back to Optus.

I think the number of towers difference between Telstra and Optus is about 13%.

Also what bands does you phone support ….. no point chasing great 4G coverage if you phone doesn't support the bands ….. what bands are available in the areas you use your phone ?

Where did you get 13% from? From memory, the number of cells are far higher for Telstra, especially for rural regions.

My experience with Telstra and Optus in metropolitan Melbourne is still quite distinct, with much faster speeds and less blackouts when I was with Telstra. Pity they were just so expensive…
