Labelled as buy one year, get one year free, this deal amounts to paying $45USD (approximately $62AUD at the moment) for two years' worth of PureVPN. And it comes with 2 years of FREE SmartDNS, whatever that is.

Bargain.

Edit - title corrected - not $45USD, actually $49.95USD. My mistake.

SmartDNS is like UnblockUS and those kind of services, it works around geo-blocking but doesn't actually put anything through a VPN.

    • actually it does put things through a VPN, you just dont know how it works

no point downvoting me if you dont know how it works. where you think the dns routes via to load the main pages of netflix, huli, etc? oh yeah, VIA THE VPN

  • Got this a while back in the last sale. Seems to work ok through the router so that all my devices are routed through vpn. This also means i've got the other 4 device (licenses) available for mobile devices / family.

One thing I didn't think of was sites IP blocking their server IP's most likely as a result of abuse from other users.
For instance ozbargain started blocking the sydney and melbourne udp server ip's a while back (not sure if this is still the case) so I had to change to another server.

Since then I've had no issues and things seem to be working smoothly.

  • so much crappy VPN spam on this site within the last month and all by new posters

But Pure VPN are one of the best services out there so this isn't spam. Joint number one best by Choice magazine

      • -1

Choice means nothing, be like reading recommendations for technology from your grandma

there seems to be a new purevpn deal posted here every few days "deal" 10 since november?

its almost like DSE and PureVPN are competing in who can have to most continuous non deals

        • I've been using it for the last year after doing my research and am happy if a deal comes up for renewal. Maybe they just have a lot of deals going on, and people actually like their service?

        • +1

Choice means a whole lot more than your random opinion as you have no idea. They independently rated 14 VPNs on over 30 criteria and Pure was joint best.

        • @hen dawg: yep no idea, 20 years in IT security but no idea :D I wouldnt wipe my dogs backside with Choice

no need to take my word buddy, do some research yourself.

          https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/3690/purevpn-review-2/

heap of reviews at the bottom there for you go read them, dont just limit yourself to that review page, theres hundreds of other pages giving reviews and information on them.

  • Anyone had any issues with IPv6 and DNS leaks with PureVPN? I am having major problems and the support useless.

They keep telling me to ininstall, reinstall, manually disable IPv6, etc. I have done all those things.

Works perfectly fine with Cyberghost on my computer.

    • you using securedns ?

https://stacksocial.com/ A few lifetime subs there including pure vpn @ $69 (5 years + free renewal after that ****if**** they're ****both**** still in business).

Happy with PureVPN, maxes out my 30mbps connection while torrenting (apparently I'm in Malaysia), steady 2.5-3MB per sec download.

  • +2

I've tried CyberGhost, PIA, Nordvpn and Purevpn is the only one that connects fast, has little to no drop outs and maxes my connection speed torrenting.

SmartDNS is a really good deal, as most other VPN providers do not have a dns only feature, meaning you need to go for for something like getflix. I took it up with the 7 day trial and have been very impressed.

Definitely not $45, showing as $49.95 for me.

    • Corrected. My apologies.

  • They have one of the worst support teams I have ever seen

I'm not going to go through the story but I would steer well clear of them

I also paid in Bitcoin and they told me it wasn't possible for a refund
After I showed them how to complete the Bitpay refund process I got a full refund back to my Bitcoin address as well
