  • Thanks that's cheap.
Costco offer a no question refund on any item if you're not satisfied. You don't need a reciept as they have a record of everything you've purchased.

So its not really a lifwtime warranty, but in theory you could return it & say you're not satisfied.

  • nobody has ever returned an old CRT under the costco "lifetime warranty", its a fallacy (only in the USA)

    • they probably still all work but are just crap compared to new LCDs

  • Is this wall mountable? It doesn't look like according to the photos?

      Yes it's wall mountable

This TV does have some OK specs. A few things to be aware of though if you plan on buying it:

The smart features of this TV are terrible. Slow Android UI, with crappy built in applications. No Netflix/Plex etc built in.
This TV takes ~30 seconds to completely boot when turning it on.
The remote control on this TV is terrible. It's big, ugly and not as responsive as other brands.
    This TV advertises HDMI 2.0 but doesn't support 60fps @ 4K.
You may get issues where every now and then when you turn the TV on Motion Flow is enabled, even though it says it's disabled in the menu. You need to turn it on then off to disable it again.
On that note, the Motion Flow on this TV is possible the worst I've seen.
Input Lag is relatively high compared to other similar models.

On the plus side, Costco do have a great return policy. Picture quality is okay, although nothing to write home about.

In my opinion, you're better off going with a 55" Samsung/LG/Panasonic for roughly the same price (when on special) than going with the TCL.

I think your summary about wraps it up.. Not really a great buy unless you need something "now" and can't wait for the next special on a better brand.. Thanks Stratbargain

    • Thank you :)

    • Perfectly summarised.
i returned it the next day.
please dont waste your time and money.

    • The smart features of this TV are terrible.

Ahh, that's annoying. I'm living in the USA now and bought a TCL TV during black Friday sales, and it's fantastic. Not 4K or 3D, but it uses Roku rather than Android. Came with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and a bunch of other useful channels preinstalled. I haven't seen Roku TVs in Australia though, even at Costco.

    • Also, correct me if i am wrong but i believe quite a few of the tcl tvs wont display things like foxtel, due to not being HDCP compliant.

  • Doesnt costco have any Samsung/Lg/Pana/Sony on sale ??

appliancesonline.com.au have this for $1426 delivered (at least to my postcode, 4113) with a $500 Kmart gift card.

  • Also, can you dim the backlight? Plug in an energy meter to a TV and watch the power use difference. My TV was way over exposed using 150W. By diming the backlight it now uses 86W during the day and 42W on custom night setting.
