  • I like !

Now to wait for a 10% Masters "woolies" voucher and 10% staff discount from my friend

    • Do Masters give you 10% off price matched items?

      • Not sure, but worth a try. Maybe at self checkout you can scan the voucher

        • it's only 5% staff discount now , and if you uses the voucher 10% off they won't let you to use the staff discount on top of it.

        • @JTP267:

since when. In December, the salesman at masters told me its 10%

        • @easternculture: I don't know since when, but today i used one of my cousin's card and they only gave me %5 off. they were 10% off during december .

        • +1

          @easternculture: finished on 31st dec.

        • Probably double discount due to Christmas

…and your article has nothing to do with the product in the deal.

      • +4

Agree. I heard they only have issues with their top loading machines.

        • +8

It is not about the mechanical fault in the product, it is more about the after sales services and the way they repair the product (rather than replacing the entire faulty electrical part, they added a plastic bag or something to prevent electrical fault)

        • +3

As per rythex said, it's not that model that matters, it's how they handled the situation. They initially refused to admit there is an issue despite large number of incidents. And when they fincally decided to recall, not only they did a below par job to 'fix' the issues, there were at least 18 incidents for machines that have been 'fixed' up.

They only offered full refund after being told by ACCC that they are obliged to provide a full refund.

        • @rythex: if repaired properly, a module should never need changing.
          It just results in landfill.
But Samsung do seem to be a bit dodgy

        • +1

          @rythex: exactly right.

Samsung's behaviour was appalling, I think it's an extremely relevant case study for anyone considering purchasing a Samsung white good.

This wasn't a once off balls up or mistake. It was a deliberate and repeated attempt to mislead and (profanity) over their own customers.

We're not talking about washing machines simply breaking down here. We're talking about their products setting fire to people's homes.

    • I know someone who works at a white goods servicing company. Definitely steer clear of any Samsung Washer/Dryer & Fridges.

Either they catch fire, have faulty circuitry, or in the case of fridges (rust on doors).

FYI - Anyone who is essentially having issues is entitled after 3 repairs to either have a new replacement or a complete refund of the purchase price.

      You're welcome!

I'd be a little hesitant to buy a Samsung washer:
    http://classic.choice.com.au/shonkyaward/hall-of-shame/shonk…

Granted the issue was with a top loader, but Samsung did not handle the issue well.

    • +4

They did for me. THey contacted me, gave me the option for a repair or brand new updated model. Gave me a brand new machine 2 years after I bought it.

      • +2

I bet you it's after ACCC told them they are obliged to buy back the machines.

In my experience, no matter who you buy from, know your rights as an Australian consumer because they'll be hoping you don't.

      • In my experience, prevention is better than cure.

        • Like I said, they're all much of a muchness. I deal with all their service departments as part of my job.

  • Is this only $40 delivery if you live in the same state as the store?

    • no. I live in QLD. Bing's from NSW…
