  • anybody have a advertising subsidized plan that wants to comment on how it works/feels ?

always wondered wether it would be annoying or worth it given the apparent value

  • this is a complete rip

    lemme get this right

    $20 startup fee?

    12 or 24 month contract?

to get NO ADS you pay another $12?

Virgin (who aren't a favourite of mine) were doing $19 for a Nokia 5800 including a $100 myers gift voucher and true to form, charge only $19 a month (Optus were allegedly charging me $19 but they raped me for a lot more).

Sounds like you have a horrible deal going.

Would not buy again, gave me cancer, Bad Ebayer…

  • Is anyone using this plan?

Just wondering how this would compare with sms pup mobile?

  • Damn I was really interested in their Sim only plans but after seeing that whole Spam BS and the fact that you have to pay $20 just to get the Sim I think I'll Pass.

  • At first sounded like a good deal, then reading all the little catches and terms and conds. It just gets worse and worse…. not quite a -1 vote but close.

    • Hi - what little catches?
Just curious cause we're using the ads to basically help subsidize the plan to the tune of $10 per month, so almost 50%.

      • Hi liveconected -

I'm open to subsidised phone plans with some advertising (can't have everything for nothing), but I'm curious about the level of advertising (1 SMS/MMS per day, 1 SMS/MMS per hour?) and if it also includes any phone call advertising (are numbers sold to telemarketers?). I'd also like to know if it is possible to port out a number, if things don't work out.

        Thanks!

        • Hi

Its roughly 2 ads/3-4 hours - most being SMS. The FAQs goes through more details.
          No phone call advertising.
And your number is definitely never released to telemarketers.

Edit - Yes it is possible to port out your number, it would essentially be cancelling the contract, and there would be cancellation fees as with any other mobile contract

          tks

          • @liveconnected: Seems very reasonable, thanks for the info. Will definitely look into these plans when my contract is up in 3 months.

  • its like the tpg $19 cap, but its only got 120 and not 300. But IT IS made up by the free phone, and 200mb data (but they do seem to charge for viewing mms when tpg do not). It goes bad when u look at the 24 month contract thats full of ads (anywhere between 1460 and 4380 ads in total). TPG FTW!

    • The TPG cap is SIM only, if you'd like a SIM only plan try the Apollo 20, its sim only and gives $300 calls & text + 300 mb of data + free-time
      http://www.liveconnected.com.au/apollo-20/

    • isn't MMS included in the cap?

and what is the difference between the apollo 19 cap and the apollo 10 cap??

      • MMS is included.
The Apollo 10 is one of our original caps and is SIM only, no contract. It is going to be phased out from new sales shortly.

  • Im with live connected. Awesome deal, however I prefer to buy my own awesome phone.

Funny enough, I havnt received one SMS advertisment yet (second month in..)

But this is good if you like the phone. Make sure you read fine print :D

    Other important details I tihnk:

    First month is Pro Rata
Billing period os every 28th of the month (everyone)

    =] Thanks guys

      Hi Dennis

The ads aren't that bad, the last set of ads were to let people know the following:
      1) Air Asia sale
      2) Discounted movie tickets - save 50% off Event Cinema tickets

If we don't keep the ads relevant, customers won't respond. So its definitely in our interest to make sure whatever ads we do send are of interest and relevant to you.

      tks

      • yeah but at up to 12 ads a day…. that isnt really worth it
        close to -ve myself
