A great spec'd phone, I am using it myself… The camera has a magnificent clarity, the battery life is great. Can't go wrong at this price.

    My s3 no longer let's me use play store or any Google apps. After trying many things am thinking of replacing with this but want to transfer all sms to new phone. Does this have software for it like Samsung does?

          download this on your PC (and transfer it to your phone via usb) and then just use file brower to install it (manually)

          do you have TELEGRAM app ? I can send you via the Telegram app (can send APK files on that via internet)

          have connected phone via usb to mac android transfer (mat). Trying to copy app onto sd card as phone is just not appearing on mat nor anywhere on computer. I drag and drop app onto sd card in mat, "copying to SMS backup & Restore.apk to android" and progress bar appears and estimated time remaining etc, progress bar doesn't progress at all and eventually another window pops up saying "Could not copy file SMS backup & Restore.apk"

          @jerum3030: when you connect your phone, do you connect it as a media device ?
          if nothing works find someone who has another android phone where u can just transfer the app to his phone, copy to sd card and then put that sd card in your phone and then back up.

          or if you have a laptop that read sd card (micro sd adapter) and then it should work.

          Ok. Copied SMS Restore & Backup.apk to sd card on another android phone. Put this sd card into my phone. Located .apk file on sd card through My Files app on my phone. pressed on .apk file. Comes up with Do you want to install this application it will get access to… etc. I click Next to accept. then Install. Proceeds to say Installing… then immediately another pop appears saying "Out of space. SMS Backup & R couldn't be installed. Free up some space and try again." Has button to manage apps. I press button. Am taken to what seems like the ALL section of Memory Usage. I'm unsure what to do here as all applications have 0.00B listed ? Looked at deleting a random app i.e Polaris Viewer 4.1 but pop up says "Disabling built-in apps, may cause error in other app" so i don't proceed.
          Polaris Viewer as all apps in this list are listed as using 0.00B as mentioned before.

          I can't be out of space? Under settings/storage says I 3.8gb on device and 1.47 on card. I have another pc (windows) which I mentioned earlier i tried unsuccessfully to backup phone using kies. Is this what you mean by using another computer?

          Yeah I ensure its connected as a media device. When I try to connect to kies or wondershare mobiletrans for Mac i can see in the program that it begins to connect with the phone but always ends up "failing to connect to device"

          @jerum3030: oh no, looks like you need a new phone asap. Did you buy the redmi note 2? if you haven't I strongly recommend you buying on from eglobaldigital. It will take abt 3-4 days to come. Once you have that phone, use the same micro sd card in redmi and copy the file in it and then take it back to your old phone to install. Hope that works

          Edit: I double checked connecting the S3 to my win pc. The phone and the card each mount on file explorer. So I copied .apk file to pc desktop and then tried copying to Phone but a progress window pops up saying copying but it doesn't progress at all and eventually times out.

          @jerum3030:Could be hardware issue with your phone. I remember s3 had motherboard issues. It could be one of that. let's try copying few from your phone to sim and then copy those from that sim to another phone. Slower process but will work I hope

      Yes it is…
      You could also try smiui.net to build your own ROM and delete stuff that you might not need…e.g. Xiaomi framework etc..

    Just an update on my order for the Note 2 prime from Gearbest…
    My mum loved the Redmi note 2 that I bought on Eglobal so I gave it to her for her birthday..
    So I ordered myself the note 2 prime on the 20th of January about 5pm and just got a notification this morning that it has shipped . When I purchased it, I ignored the free shipping and I paid 5.99 US for expedited shipping via TNT. Which said 3-5 business days. So the wait now begins.

    It didn't come with the battery! I do not know who to contact, first time buying a chinese phone and I have already been scammed.

    I watched unboxing videos also, and all of them came with the battery!

          This could be true.. Last time I tried to ship a phone I sold on eBay the post office said I had to remove the battery ( which was hard because the Nokia 1020 or whatever has an inbuilt battery you can't remove).

          However, I received this Redmi phone with the battery :)

          Yes! Came with Battery :) Mine wasn't in a sealed box, however the screen protector (temp) it came with had not been removed at all. I have since installed a Niikkin Screen protector (Tempered Glass) Can not tell it's even on! :)

    Sorry another noob question. I installed global rom , thought its supposed to automatically get rid of stuff like clean master or is that not bloatware?

    Also after phone restarted after installing rom it asked me to choose between setup wizard and launcher for some reason? I chose setup wizard, not sure if that was right?

      yes it should have.
      Do one thing now

      RESET the phone by erasing the data
      Start the phone (do not add any email at this stage)
      copy the GLOBAL ROM file into your phone
      Goto Updater and then browse the zip to load

      it should over write everything (just to be safe)

      btw am sure u can remove the clean master etc (uninstall)

          Similar to what codename47 suggested above, you might try this:

          Turn off phone.
          Press power button and vol up together and hold until a screen with orange colour appears.
          In that screen, "wipe delete all data"
          Now reboot
          When it boots up, do not add any account etc… simply go to Updater and browse to zip file and let it update.

    Hi Guys , Just received my Note 2 Prime from Gearbest. All up took approx 10 days from the day it was shipped to arrive. In fact I ordered another one a few days later for a friend because he was so impressed with the phone.
    I was certainly expecting to find my purchase from Gearbest to be infested with malware and had the Glen 20 ready to kill everything. But…. I was amazed to find that there is no Malware installed on it whatsoever. In fact it
    Came with a Weekly beta rom installed on it MIUI 7 - v 5.10.16. I may still move on to the Global stable rom if I encounter anything but it makes things a lot easier if the rom that it came with originally is readily available in case any warranty issues arise in the future.
    So anyone thinking of taking the plunge and ordering from Gearbest . I say go ahead.

      If you try downloading a file in Chrome, does it ask you to download it with Xunlei Engine? If yes then it might be a Chinese ROM so probably one of the reasons that you might want to go to a Global ROM.

        I ended up going to the Global rom anyway. I felt more comfortable knowing that I am on a stable rom rather than a beta weekly rom that may have some bugs.

    My Redmi note 2 finally arrived from dealsmachine on the slow boat. Order on the 24th Jan, tracking show dispatch on the 2nd of Feb from Singapore via SingPost, arrived in Australia on the 11th Feb. Delivered to my parcel locker on the18th Feb. So all up about 25 days.

      I requested money refund before processing completed which was supported without engaging PayPal.. Reading after-sales (absent of) service, cases gave me the creeps. That I required assistance they offered DM points or otherwise empathetic copypasta sorries. Neg reviews read as if not ever actually solved and then it has so many.

      Word to the brave: DO NOT sign up DM newsletter or membership (such site's first screen) once referred by topcashback, that'd get '8%' lowered to 3, if any
      + neither adjustment/acknowledgement thereof
      Weigh up the value of dhl/courier transit- cost prohibitive- that should support precise tracking and certainty overall (trustworthy seller/merchantable quality of goods trusted).

      I got some dubiously inconsistent, delayed, replies from the ticket team as I pushed hard enough YMMV. Textchat availability, and indicator stock; false.

      EverBuying too much resemble DM, and eGlobal could be my next best option while MWC is going on. ?May someone provide eGlobal's phone number from your invoice on PayPal.

        Yeah it was a gamble buying from dealsmachine, after placing the order i read some neg reviews on the web and it made me very nervous. I got suck in for the 8% cashback otherwise i would have order from eglobal. But it turn out alright at the end. Now got to wait another 60 days for cashback…

    Hey guys how are y'all going with your new phones?

    My partner has been enjoying the Redmi Note 2 for the most part but she gets frustrated when a couple of apps stuff up.

    Things like snapchat and Facebook which she loves to use are really not working that great . I've tried deleting the app data for those two but the phone still has some weird bugs and doesn't post snaps properly .

    Anyone else having trouble with the global ROM linked in this thread? Any suggestions ?
