I'd recommend it for this price. I bought it for $28 from Target and completed the short story in about 3 days. Then traded it in at JB Hi-Fi for $20.

Good, unique, horror game experience for less than $10!!

Until Dawn has great replay value too, as you can save all the douchey teens, save some of them or - and I still haven't managed this - hit the dawn with them all dead. Some of the seemingly most insignificant choices can have big consequences.

People should look at the xbox one games some very good prices in there!

  • +1

Good game, pretty short though. If you enjoy this I'd recommend "Life is Strange."

  • is it good game?

  • +1

Great game, and cannot be passed up for the price.

Side note, at one point I asked the tubby nugget at JB to match HN price on a game and he refused saying HN are clearing games and will no longer be in the game business. is there any truth to it?

    • But they're still listing games for pre-orders.. Why wld they do that if they are exiting?

    • +2

he was talking crap simply because he didn't want to price match it. Nothing more, nothing less

    • +1

was this is in Indooroopilly? Fat blob wouldnt price match the Target bundle last year and was a real douche about it as well.

  • +1

Definitely worth the price - bought it right after Christmas and probably the most fun I've had on the PS4 so far. Very short game all things considered, but you get sucked right into the story

  • fun game, awesome price!

  • +1

Was that price since a couple weeks ago during the HN posts here.

Well worth it for PS4 owners.

I would recommend if you can pick up instore to do so..their online system really is terrible. I ordered mortal kombat on boxing day and only received a tax invoice. Nothing on eta for deliveries for two weeks. Had to chase them up this week for several days via their useless callback system, i swear they ring your phone for about three seconds and hang up. After using their online chat on Tuesday, finally got an update yday evening saying its being shipped today. Apologies for the delay..etc etc.

  • I think the comments above have got me interested in this game.

Has anyone had any luck getting this price matched (JB, EB etc.)?

    • +2

When target did it for 29 the other week I went to EB because no one had any stock. The guy had to hit a fair few buttons, even said it was below the amount they're allowed to drop on a price, but ended up doing it for me. You should be right.

      • +1

Cheers - will head to EB during my break.

Nice coincidence, I'm currently on hold with Harvey Norman trying to find where my games I ordered around christmas time are. I reckon I'll go in person and see if my local has one rather than ordering online.

  • Obviously a personal preference but I hated this game. So much slow walking, strange animations and couldn't get into any of the characters due to the poor writing. All just my opinion and I don't expect everyone to have the same thoughts.

Just goes to show how one game can have such divided opinions, seems that it has two very separate camps. For $28, at least you are minimising your risk to give it a go.

ruined by their crappy postage price and inability to pickup from local stores.

  • This is a copy & paste from a previous deal about Until Dawn:

    Guys, this isn't a random recommendation that I want overlooked, this is one of the highest recommendations I can ever give and I want you all the buy it;

Until Dawn is definitely a contender for Game of the Year. It is without a doubt the best PS4-exclusive game on the market. There is tons of character development (I ended up loving a certain character who I absolutely despised at the beginning of the game), the visuals are adequate enough, the feels are strong, the choices you make literally decide who lives or dies, characters were voiced and modeled after their respective actors (Rami Malek (Mr Robot), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes), Peter Stormare (The Blacklist) and more).

This game is definitely a 9.9/10. It would have been a 10 if it was just a little bit longer.

    • +2

For me the character development was so teenagery-drama that I couldn't relate at all and struggled. Agree visuals are adequate although the characters can sometimes look ridiculous for what is meant to be a "movie-game". Watching a character stand there with their mouth open tilting their head looks ridiculous. For a large amount of decisions I found the options all led to the same thing anyway, which felt like a cop out.

Gonna leave it there as I'm not trying to be repetitious, just feel that there will be quite a few people that don't share the same feelings about this game.

I hope everyone who does give it a go gets something good out of it - for me unfortunately it was a big disappointment.

I tried to get a JB price match from $79 down to $28 to match HN and said they wouldn't do it. Said it was too cheap and they had just had it on sale.

  • +1

Thanks! EB refused to price match when Big W had it for around this price so I thought I'd missed out.

    • +3

That's when you go to the EB's Facebook page and make a public comment. You will get a public response asking you to PM the page who will sort out the issue.

      • +1

Just curious, after I send a PM, what happens then?

        • +2

Never did it myself, but it seems they get into contact with the store to arrange a solution for you. Most issues are resolved after this PM exchange.

  • Never really played a Horror, I prefer RPG and Shooting type games, Think I will enjoy it?

    • -1

This has elements of RPG and shooting. Your choices directly affect the outcome of the game. There are small shooting quick time events where you need to aim manually. As someone else who never really played horror before this one, I can do nothing but highly recommend it.

      • +1

Thanks, From your recommendation I thought I would give it a try.

Unfortunately , putting in some other games (minecraft and dead rising) they want $17.85 for postage! Compared to $6ish (which is what it was for one game!)

So unless its a pricing error that can be fixed dont think I will bother.

      • +2

Yeah….Mario has RPG and shooting elements too! Haha

  • its a pretty good game…and its the only game i completed in years…lol

  • How to use HN gift card online?

  • +1

Tried to price match at EB and they refused on the grounds it was part of a 'Boxing day sale', even though it clearly shows its part of a 1/2 yearly sale. Guess we cant price match sales anymore…Looks like I'll be making the long drive out to HN tonight (hopefully)

  • Does this have any gameplay? From what I understand its mostly a movie game, chose pathway experience? Or Not Really? Like the Mass Effect cutscenes or something…

    • This is nothing like the Telltale games. Think Resident Evil style.

    • Yes, you walk very, very slowly, for a long amount of time. You can also pick up totems every now and then.

Interspersed with quick action events and choices, you may also aim and shoot a gun 3 or 4 times.

Been this price for over 2 weeks.
