Free Salted Caramel Protein Sample from Bulk Nutrients

1410

"This is your chance to score yourself a sample of the nicest WPI/WPC flavour we're ever released!

Salted Caramel has been a runaway success. We'd like to say it's because of the high quality proteins used, but in truth it's that the flavour is delicate, refined and mouthwateringly moreish."

Gee somebody must've hit the thesaurus pretty lovingly to have come up with such a delectable description for salted caramel…

    • +14

You're telling me you've never tasted anything you'd describe as mouthwateringly moreish? Let's be honest, your life must be rather characterless, humdrum and wishy washily vanilla-ish.

        vanilla is delicious

        • +1

          Especially vanilla ice cream… mmmmm…

I've tried this flavour from them and it was pretty good.

While i normally swear by their banana and strawberry, will definitely throw this into the mix as well.

    • +5

avoid the coffee or mocha at all costs

      • Also avoid cookies & cream.
Chocolate is incredible however. Smells like M&M's.

      • agreed

        • Whens the last time you've tried the above flavours.

I have all of them currently as protein matrix+.

Find nothing wrong with anythign, from what I've read they've tweaked recipes for most of them in the past 3-6 months.

Choch coconut is quite good. Doesn't smell great but is like a bounty.

Cookies and creme just tastes like vanilla to me. Not horrible.

        • @flylin: It was about a year or so I purchased Coffee. It was ok but found the vanilla soooo much better. Stuck with vanilla only until recently got a sample pack of salted caramel….Mmmmmmmm.
Now I mix 50/50 salted caramel & vanilla.

I will heed your advice and try again with my next order.. Thanks!

  • Thanks OP really interested to check it out

Can you sign up for both? In the process of signing up for myself and 100 or so of my friends and extended families. =D

    • Don't ruin it for other people…

      • Stop being such a tightarse.

It's like $25 a kilo which will last months… Significantly cheaper than competion, plus even cheaper when bought in bulk.

  • Thanks OP. Just signed up for a sample.

I rate this flavour highly, it goes so well in my oats in the morning.

    • or add some to pancake mix

  • My favourites - Strawberry, Choc Mint, Vanilla
    Moderate - Coffee, Choc, Banana
    Not the best - Mocha

Just be aware that the sweetener used in this (and most flavored protein powders) is Sucralose (aka Splenda) which has been found to have negative effects on the immune system.

That's why I prefer 100% Gold Whey from Optimum to other random homebrew WPIs. According to them of course
"Gold Standard Natural is also completely free of artificial flavors or sweeteners including sucralose, acesulfame potassium and aspartame."

      • I wouldn't really put BN in the random homebrew category, they are very popular these days.

    • +2

      Source, please?

      • He read it somewhere in the internet, therefore it must be true

        • +1

Sucralose is made when sugar is treated with trityl chloride, acetic anhydride, hydrogen chlorine, thionyl chloride, and methanol in the presence of dimethylformamide, 4-methylmorpholine, toluene, methyl isobutyl ketone, acetic acid, benzyltriethlyammonium chloride, and sodium methoxide. If you think that consuming a cocktail of chemicals like this is not going to have any side effects, go for it. The truth is, we do not have any long-term studies to know what the actual effects are, so you really are rolling the dice.

This is not science either. This article has zero references to actual, peer-reviewed, journaled science

        • It's a summary, if you look through their website there is peer reviewed journals and studies on each one.

  • +1

So if you have a strong immune system no worries then

  • +1

Mm, sucralose. Go natural and blend it with fruit. :)

i've signed up for a couple of these samples and never got shit - do they just ignore repeat sample hoarders?

    • -1

      Wouldn't you?

      • No because it's customer service and an opportunity to improve sales

        • Me neither

    • haha i thought i was the only one!

      i never get them

  • +1

    Thanks OP.. that's tea sorted

  • Have to say this tastes damn good.

  • Cheers OP, you had me at Free
    Salted Carammmel

  • thanks ordered. Will see how it compares to Optimum Nutrition Vanilla ice cream (if you can still even get this? Lately online i've only seen 'vanilla' which im not sure is the same)

Almost clicked to complete a transaction but I don't get it - it talks about being "un-denatured" and the quality of the product…that's great and I was almost sold! … but sadly the ingredients also include artificial sweetener - with all its associated issues.

    • What issues are those? Assuming you've researched the various peer reviewed studies and journal articles associated with artificial sweeteners instead of believing what a random healthy blogger wrote?

      • +1

Firstly, my comment was made in the context of an apparently superior WCI/WPC…Australian sourced, grass feed, etc and "remains completely undenatured". I loved the sound of this so much so off I went and clicked to buy. However, after delving further into the balance of ingredients I found the presence of a synthetic Organochlorine Sweetener (sucralose), which certainly can't lay claims to being undenatured.

For me this spoils the whole intent of the product - and likely a portion of market for the product with those that have an aversion to artificial sweeteners such as as Splenda (sucralose), Aspartame and Saccharin.

Yes, I have researched the matter and am not aware of any significant independent long term peer review study conducted that proves Sucralose (or other artificial sweeteners) is safe for human consumption.

I am however aware of a growing number of findings against artificial sweeteners - the following links make an interesting read on sucralose alone…and no, they are not from a random self-styled health blogger :)

        Trust the above is informative.

        • +2

The fact you have Mercola on there is a big red flag, he's been proven time and time again to be a complete scam artist. One of the studies is only looking into the effects on a 'group' of one person. Another is from GreenMedInfo which is anti GMO… Enough said. Sorry but I'd rather believe the overwhelming evidence that unless consumed in extremely high amounts that are very unlikely to be delivered by protein powder that they are perfectly safe.

After I knock out a brutal, hardcore gym sesh I don't ponce about worrying about fancy flavours. Get used to the flavour of the raw stuff and just gulp it down. It's cheaper and free of artificial flavours. Legit.

  • +1

Tasted good. But made me gassy, which usually doesn't happen

  • just tried my sample with my oats. very tasty flavour. happy with the ingredients.

how does this compare with ON Natural Whey Gold? BCAA's, Protein to weight %… etc.

Happy to order a few kilos when a nice coupon code becomes available ; )

  • Hey guys, just got an email from BN to follow up and they gave me a code for a free mini shaker with any purchase. Since I have too much protein to justify an order any time soon I'll give it out to whoever wants to use it first
