One for All Indoor Antenna: SV9380 $25, SV9390 $59.50 Free Postage or Click & Collect @ Ambertech

40

I was looking at these in the last few weeks and they are SV9380 $25 (was $140) and SV9390 now $59.50 (was $160) so this is a deal if you were looking to purchase such a thing.

Purchase through Ebay Ambertechonline store for FREE POSTAGE or a Woolworths/Big W store pick-up. Can't comment on their effectiveness. Some people say they're great, someone people say they're useless.

I can't find the deals on their ambertech website so here are the links to ebay. Feel free to fix.

a wire coat hanger is 20 cents and works just as good as digital just needs a signal strong enough to display, if its weak it wont display anything more than you get with a coat hanger

    • this is disappointing Makoto cos my crawl space is commando style only and I don't want to hard wire the whole house :(

If it had over been 2mths ago I would have said buy one from DSE, try it out, so you can take it back if it doesn't work. alas that's not an option.

If you own the place it may pay to get a man in to wire it up. If you're renting get a quote & ask the landlord if you can go 50:50 in paying for it.

Or if you can wait until Easter, chuck some Easter eggs in the crawl space, hold a Easter Egg hunt for the neighbourhood kids & tie some coax to on of them & let them run it for you.

      This isn't true.

What is true is that an indoor antenna is no where near as good as an outdoor antenna, and this is what some people need.

Or a better way to put it, a coathanger often works when you can put your finger on the antenna port and get signal that way…

Indoor antennas however vary greatly. A coathanger might be as good as a $10 crazy clarks antenna.

      • have you found one which works?

Like @Makoto I've found a coat hanger wasn't much different to the various digital indoor antennas I've tried. Often just an aerial cable taped to thew wall was better then either. But the best one we had was a small mesh outdoor antenna stuck to the wall won hands down.

        • I had tried many and the best I found was this (I know its dick smith)

          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/antennas/indoor-tv-antenna-with-…

What I haven't tried is high end indoor digital antennas as they weren't around when I had the issue, just the cheap ones that didn't work very well.

        • @samfisher5986: yeah I tried that one and found rabbit ears & aerial cable were better - lucky I could take it back.

        • @supabrudda:

That almost sounds impossible… did you use the powered amplification?

Must be a weird area that you are in

        • @samfisher5986: I have this model antenna its great

        • @samfisher5986: digital amp will only work if the signal is good & strong. Anyway glad it works for the others. It's more of a heads up to anyone looking to so if they can get one from a place that accepts returns in case it doesn't work.

        • @supabrudda:

I mean define good and strong?

Without the amp I barely get a digital signal and miss channels when scanning, with the amp it was mostly perfect.

  • bought this at full price at dick smith. It's pretty good, picked up a better signal than the other less expensive one i tried.

A friend bought one full price to try - he lives in Northbridge(WA) and it was useless.
Agree with Makoto - if signal is strong it may work

    • I'm pretty well located 10k from the city so hoping it will work. Will report back.

    • I'll give him $10 for it if it's just laying around and he wants to get rid of it.

  • With these antenna, it's hit and miss. Make sure you keep your receipt and find a store with easy refund policy.

  • seems they are both last generations. the current ones are SV9385 and SV9395 which have better reception.

    • Last generation antenna? Seriously. What has the world become?

A last generation antenna should be from the 1990's. And before that the 1950's. No other changes should have been necessary.

      • just a heads up for people that think they're exactly the same models in the market at the moment. by saying that, the price is still awesome. i have a SV9345 and it works perfectly but again i'm only like 7km from the tower.

  • What an absolute rip.
