Bought this on the last deal for the wife.. it's honestly about 90% as good as the dyson supersonic which died after 6 years of use.

its lighter, slightly quieter too, the dyson has that little extra wind power though, but it's also $350+ more… 10/10 would recommend

    • +1

90% is a stretch. I have this dryer honestly one of my fav purchases this year but Dyson def does a better job

      • +44

i'm 10% confused, but then 40% of all stats are made up

        • +22

60% of the time, it works every time.

          • @m9: but definately not when its 90% off Dyson…
Heck whats a 10% difference anyway… a couple of cups of coffee ?

            • +2

@Elijah: Oh people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent, forty percent of all people know that!

            • @Elijah: 2 cups of coffee = 45% of a possum's perceived value of the Dyson Airwrap

              trustmebro

        • +3

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

        • +1

65% of people liked this post and 15% did not like this post. The remaining 25% did not care either way… and if that doesn’t add up to 100% that’s because this comment was completely made up.

      • +1

To be fair I agree with this sentiment, it's similar to the people that say that the Renpho massage guns are 90% of what Theraguns are, and from personal experience who uses it almost daily that is laughable.

    • I agree, this is a good buy for the price. 65% would definitely agree, while 25% might be a bit undecided and the 15% likely say no. Also 55% of people that read this post won't realize the total percentage above is not 100%. guaranteed 100%

    • I am 90% sure that 80% people here are just saying random comments.

    • I also bought it on the last deal, with NAB10 coupon making it only $70. It's literally the best hair drier performance $/m3 - period!

  • +2

Thinking of buying this for missus, does it come with (or do you even need) attachments?

I'm clueless when it comes to hairdryers

    • +3

It only comes with the one attachment which makes the air flow go in a line shape. It attaches magnetically.

      • +2

… It's even in the thumbnail , my bad

        • All good. I impulse bought it last week and didn't even realise (also has a couple of heat settings). It's a pretty powerful compact unit.

          • +6

@Caped Baldy: Bro, you're bald. Why do you need a hair dryer?

            • @Munki: might not be the hair they're drying…. just saying…

    • If she likes styling her hair vs just drying it, the pocket version is gonna be a better buy if you're not in a hurry. It drops to $149 every now and then. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16748194/redir

  • How does this hairdryer compare to the folding Dreame pocket from a few weeks back?

    • +1

Would love to have a folding one for travelling.

    • +1

The pocket one is less powerful and therefore takes longer to dry hair. But it’s smaller so it’s easier to carry around

  • +3

    Goat dryer

    • +3

      does it do sheep tho

  • Does anyone have a link for a diffuser attachment to this that would work? Really only need it for that

  • +9

Got this off a previous deal, and for $79 this is probably the best hair dryer you can get IMO. The Dyson is better, but not $350+ better.

  • +1

Got this, the Dyson and a fake Dyson.
The fake Dyson is surprisingly good and is a fraction of the price of both of these.
Got ours from overseas but I do see them for sale on FB marketplace. Only downside is that compared to the Dyson it's too powerful on the low setting

    • +6

I'd be worried that it's a fire hazard.

      • It’s fine..
110 000 negative ions… I wanted one with positive ions… but they were out of stock

  • +1

Got one of these prime day and so far so good

    • Was it cheaper on prime day?

      • +2

        Same price

  • -4

Are these from Blow Your Dreame (BYD)

  • +2

I have this one, initially bought it for my partner, but the one i got from Kmart was starting to die so I just took it anyways. Its not as good as a Dyson, at least comparing it to my sisters, but its still really good. I'd stay in term of comparison its pretty close. Dyson is much stronger, but I mean, its a hair dryer, i dont think a lot of people are gonna care that much. I would recommend, for 80$ its quite good.

  • +2

Would this be suitable to blow dry dog’s fur?

    • +3

Yes, we use it on our pampered (way too much) Toy Poodle, and he prefers it as it's quieter (sounds like fast air, rather than screeching hair dryer).

  • +3

This is great that it mimics 80% of the Dyson functionality at a fraction of the cost.

The wife is interested in the Dyson Airwrap. Is there a dupe that gets most of the way there? Can't justify $500+.

  • +2

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DZH2S3D6
same dryer, different branding for $59 - these chinese dryers might not be as powerful as a turbo salon one but they are certainly a lot quieter. Ex-salon dryers at cash converters are the best buy, $250 dryers pre owned for usually less than $50

    • +1

Can you vouch it's the same though?

      • -4

nope, exactly the same plastics and housing though - probably the same assembly floor if i had to guess

  • Why do modern hairdryers look like this, what's the difference between old fashioned ones?

    • +7

The fan is inside the handle and is a smaller motor that spins at a much faster RPM for a massive increase in airflow compared to the traditional ones with the bulbous top part.

The massive increase in airflow is what makes these style dry hair a lot faster.

      • +1

Is it worth it for shorter men's hair?

        • +2

          Yes, saves me time everyday.

There's a Kmart one also that is half the price of this deal but I think would perform similarly: https://www.kmart.com.au/product/high-power-hair-dryer-lilac…

I haven't tried the Kmart one. I have one of these Dyson clones made by Aina that I bought a year ago that is no longer on sale on Amazon. The current Aina one looks like the traditional style masquerading as a Dyson clone

      • +1

Don’t forget the negative ions which is meant to reduce frizz (positive ions aka energy may produce a balloon on hair effect)
But how much of this is marketing BS I haven’t been able to quantify.
We’re happy with ours (missus and dog)

  • I just saw a 10% voucher by amazon. Maybe targeted?

    • I can't see any voucher, but there's this: Get $10 off $80 on eligible NAB Visa Cards. Enter code NAB10 at checkout. Very easy to get a NAB debit card, can be done in minutes probably. I have one from the Citibank demise.

  • +2

I bought the Dreame Glory, and I absolutely love it. I never used a Dyson so can't make any comparisons. I highly recommend glory. It's strong and dries my hair really quick

  • For those who have it, is the power cord detachable?

    • +2

      no.

  • +1

I have the dyson and this. The dyson is leagues Better. But this for the money is a great beater. Better then a average hair dryer

  • +1

what's not $$$ Dyson but not cheapie Dreame alternative that has this design??

    • a lot on amazon. random brands. but as per previous comments on similar deals, although they look the same, they are not as strong as the airspeed of this. Might still work for most though.

      • oh ok. no I was looking for something maybe more well known than "Dreame" but much cheaper than Dyson.

it's ok maybe the Dreame is basically what I'm thinking of. just thought there might be some big brand I don't know about like Wahl or Philips that makes something like the Dreame for a little bit more.

        • Dreame makes vacuums too. They are quite similar to the Chinese companies like Xiaomi / Roborock.

Shark is a better known brand and better quality brand. They are one company with Ninja, which makes good quality appliances like juicer, air fryers, and other home appliances.

Quality wise, go Shark. These are the two known brands, aside from Dyson, that makes stylish, compact and powerful brushless hair dryers, that are not from generic brands.

          • @ozchobie: I had to log in to say thanks very much. did not know Dreame was like Xiaomi. I am familiar with Roborock robot vacuums they are meant to be among the best.

thanks again for the brand suggestions. now I have some brands to search for and prices/reviews to compare. great help thank you.

  • Is the 200 Million Negative-Ion Hair Dryer thing a gimmick?

    • I got a Panasonic ion, not sure any difference.

    • Yeah NFI - could be. But it positive ions would be the equivalent of static (think rubbing a balloon on hair) and equaling frizz..
We’re happy enough with ours for a dupe.

  • +2

Bought this couple weeks ago. Honestly so so good. One of the best purchases in a long time.

  • Do we have to buy extra attachments separately? Where do we get them?

  • +1

    Available again.

  • Is there diffusers attachments for curls?

  • +2

Please don’t neg me. I am not into this stuff but since everyone likes it so much it got me curious how is it different than a standard $20 Remington hair dryers? Noob question. Thanks.

    • +1

This one is pretty dang powerful and pushes a lot air. I've noticed that none of the external parts that you touch get hot enough to burn you except for the magnet that holds the attachments in place.

  • The one from Kmart looks exactly the same but half the price of this deal.
What makes this 2x better than Kmart?

  • +2

got this and really love it. for 80 bucks its a steal and definitely worth getting it. never tried the dyson one but its got plenty of power to work with

  • The FOMO is bad with this one

Does it come with a wall mount? Or should I look for one online?

  • +1

Dyson is way better, sorry but its true.

    • +3

is it 4 times better as the cost difference suggests?

  • Does it just have 1 speed or can you control the speed?

    • +1

      Off, fast, and slightly faster.

Also has three heat settings - no heat, warm, hot.

  • generic unbranded (probably from the same company that manufactures Dreame) is a lot less cheaper

    • +1

      a lot less cheaper

      so more expensive?

  • +1

Back in Stock at this price.
