  • Plus - Seiko auto, price
Minus - It's an Invicta…, quality, cheap and noisy bracelet.

  • Plus - pass this off as a Rolex Sub from afar

  • Do you guys know much about the movement? Is it 21.600 or 28.800?

    • +1

Comments here say it's a Seiko NH35A movement which has hacking & handwinding!
My Seiko SKX007 doesn't even have this. Good read also if you are considering buying it.

Thanks OP again. lol just bought the Orient Ray before Christmas. Not sure if I should get this Rolex wannabe too.

Did you see my post on some nice Seiko 5 models if you don't want another diver.
My pick would be the Seiko 5 Black with SS Bracelet SNZG13K1 AUD$139.00 Delivered
Also the smaller 37mm Seiko 5 Military, around AUD$76.00 Delivered

      • I am still a sucker of diver watches. Only the Invicta logo on the left hand side of the watch seems to be unnecessary and quite off-putting.

Lots of people that buy these mod them and use a dremel to grind off the logo and then polish it.

The 9404 gives me "cannot ship to your area" when I try to get shipping quote for some reason.

But I bought this instead for $59. Everything seem identical except dial design and coin edge bezel, which looks better imo.

  • Do not buy Invicta.

I made this mistake many years ago and have regretted it ever since.

Massive, heavy, clunky pieces of junk. They are look and don't touch watches, and the brand name was basically bought by some sneaky wall street bastard after they closed their doors and 'rebranded' selling junk time pieces.

    • Which model did you buy?

  • Orient, similar looks, way better engineering. Amazon.com has the range and often on sale .. :-) .. !!

      Quote from HoustonReal on Watchuseek

"Even if Invicta is an order of magnitude worse in quality control than Seiko, what does that mean? Do you have a 1/1000 chance of a bad Invicta vs 1/10,000 chance of a bad Seiko? Nobody here has actual statistics about quality and failure rates, so everything is anecdotal. There are lots of people here who have had no problems with their Invictas. There are also a lot of people here who have never owned an Invicta, who will tell you horror stories about someone they heard about who had one. The NH35A movement is basically an upgraded version of the 7S26 with hacking and hand winding, AKA the Seiko 4R35. Seiko uses them in a few upper end 5's and the new Monster divers, so it should offer the same bullet-proof reliability.

Buy from someplace with a good return policy, if you're that worried, like Amazon. If Invictas were really as awful as some people here think, they would be out of business. Instead, their big ugly monster watches, not only sell well on Evine, but there are pirated versions of Invicta Reserves being manufactured in China. Do you think Evine would continue hawking Invictas if a significant number of them were getting returned?

Invicta's Pro Diver line is somewhat respected here, with the 8926 being really popular for modding. The 9404 is the same basic model, with different color choices. I have heard people here who have had bad experiences with Orient watches, but that brand seems immune to the hate Invicta garners."

      • Orient Mako Pepsi Diver, two years daily wear in all conditions, unmarked in case, band and face, keeps perfect time. No problems here .. :-) . !!

  • Well said 28Degrees, I concur.

I bought this more expensive Invicta for my swimming watch and it's great, maybe a bit over the top price wise however it looks good, doesn't seem to mark as much as my more expensive watches and keeps pretty good time for an automatic.
