  • Xiaomi Yi does 1080p 60FPS and wider viewing angle, I think that's a better option for less money.

I like this shape for helmet mount more than a gopro style.

Drift stealth 2 is better than Xiaomi Yi for bikes. Why?

1: Has a rotating lens, so you can mount it where you want and change the sensor / lens angle to suit. Hide it in better locations and rotate the lens such as the front forks, handle bar ends, mirror stem, under the front cowl.
2: Black and sleek design doesn't stand out such as the white or pale green yellow colour of Xiaomi Yi.
3: Is weather resistant out of the box, so no need to purchase a waterproof case.
4: 135°, 115° and 90° field of view settings available, any wider than 135 is fisheye is crap in my opinion as I've come from DLSR photo and video, but hey that doesn't fit nicely on a bike.

1080p at 30fps is good enough, considering a human eye can't see much faster.
As peace maker wrote, he can't see the difference, The only difference I've noticed is the resolution isn't as good. So do a test, run at 30fps and run at 60fps and swish the camera around, oooo crisp blur in 60fps yah! :)

It can also be used as a baby monitor, using the wifi, setup the camera on a tripod with power, and use the tablet when your in another room to hear and see, just use a led light at night. And the phone or tablet can record to it for when your sleeping.

      Get out there!

I got this from the last deal. The price dropped a few days after I bought it and B&H happily refunded me the difference, a big plus from me for their service.

The tracking is with DHL Global which means you get no updates after it leaves the US. Took about 2 weeks to get to me.

I have it mounted to a motorcycle helmet. It's pretty good. Very small. Only thing I don't like is you can't stop the screen flashing red when it is recording. If you had a handlebar mount it would drive you crazy I reckon. Other than that, feels well made and a decent image quality. I use 60fps 720p. I can't really tell the difference to 30fps and 1080p. Maybe my eyesight is bad?

It's perfect use on a motorcycle helmet but can be used as dashcam too by selecting 'dashcam' mode.

At this price it's worth a try.

Mine doesn't flash as I used these settings.
      In the settings
      RC LED - off
      Camera LED - off
      LCD backlight - off
LCD backlight timer - should be off or set it to 5 min

      • Thanks. I'll give that a try. When I emailed Drift support they said it couldn't be turned off, will be great if it works. I already have LED off and LCD backlight set to off.

      • Just tried it and it works! Thanks maxell86.

They did expire the previous deal. Probably just to trigger price drop alerts for those that track it.

Bought one from deal I posted and delivered within 2 weeks over Christmas.

  • looks like the video stabilization is really good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmEQktmLBBw

  • Thanks OP, been looking for a bike-cam for a while.
Will give this a go, considering it's about 1/2 the price of other ones I was thinking about.

  • Thanks, I bought one for mountain biking. Seems perfect. Anyone have any cheap accessory favourites?

I'm investigating if I can change the internal microphone. Opened up the Drift Stealth 2 and videoed inside.
    Options:
1: leave the microphone as is. No change
2: Disconnect the existing microphone and run a cable out to the helmet with a boom arm microphone.
3: Dual connect the existing microphone and run a cable out to the helmet with a boom arm microphone.

Though I am unsure of the impedance, resistance, volt or amp needed. Have to use the multi meter.

9 days of testing, this morning I calculated only 2.08hours of battery life not 3 hours based on this mornings ride.
