What is Quick Charge 2.0?

Tests have shown that a 3500mAh battery can be charged from 0% to 60% in only 30 minutes using Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 technology.

If your device is not compatiable with QC, you're still able to charge it quickly (but not as fast as QC) with the VoltIQ technology included in each port. VoltIQ is able to detect the charging protocol used in your device to provide the fastest possible charge without the risk of overheating, overcharging and short circuiting etc.

The 6 pack of MicroUSB cables are not like a lot of other cheap Micro USB cables found on the internet, as they're made from high quality materials and are able to provide faster charging and data syncing of up to 480Mbps with error-free data transmission. They make a perfect companion for any Quick Charge 2.0 phone and charger.

Some of the Quick Charge 2.0 Compatible models include:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung GALAXY Note Edge
  • LG G4, LG G Flex2, LG V10,
  • HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One Mini, HTC Desire Eye, HTC One A9, One Remix
  • Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z4, Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet, Z4 Tablet
  • Google Nexus 6
  • Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Moto X, Moto X Pure
  • ASUS Zenfone 2 Series
  • Xiaomi Mi3, Mi4, Mi Note
  • ZTE Axon Pro

Other devices like the iPhone, iPad, Nexus series etc will benefit from the VoltIQ technology.

  • OP, anything for Samsung Galaxy S5?

    • Unfortunately only the Japanese version of the S5 uses Quick Charge 2.0.

  • +1

    US$19.69 & US$9.99 (US$29.68)
    or buy both for only
    US$29.99 ?!?

    • +2

I completely missed that. I'll get it fixed now.

      Edit: Been adjusted. Thank you.

  • +2

When will you do qc powerbank?

    • +3

Working on getting the best possible price currently. I'm aiming for this week now.

  • OP, would be great to get a discount ordering 2 or more of these for Raspberry Pi user projects:

    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/1M-Black-USB-3-0-Y-Cable-A-Ma…

Know if anyone has used the charger on an ongoing basis to run a raspberry pi etc?

    • +2

The 5% off sitewide coupon xiaomifans with a max. discount of $250 US would be the best way to get the gear you need.

  • OP, how long is the power cord on the desktop charger?

    • +1

I ordered one in the previous sale and it wasn't very long. I'd say about 1m or 3ft. You can buy a nice long one from jay car for not so much. Good quality ones too

      • +1

Yeah the cable was disappointing. Didn't really like the chance of plugging it into a power socket near ground level and being able to have any flexibility with desk placement. Would have ruled out raising my desk to use as a standing desk too.

I just grabbed a replacement from Big W, but you could grab one from anywhere really.

    • che_97 is about right. It's a standard 2 pin cable, so longer cables can be purchased locally or online.

  • +1

Thanks mate…grabbed a couple more chargers. The one I have is great a keeping things a little tidier and it works great.

  • Any deals on the 5 port titan? 1x QC port is never enough. They're $49.99 on evilbay

    • My previous deal is still active.

  • +1

Forgive my ignorance. If you plug in a device that can't take 12V into the quickcharge port are you likely to fry it?

    • +1

No. It's able to detect if your phone has an active QC chip in it. VoltIQ will end up kicking in if you don't have it.

  • +4

I purchased this in the last deal and very happy with the unit. Saves the crapload of chargers on my powerboard.

  • Hi,
I'm getting $44.05 for the combo rather than $42. Any suggestions what I should do?

I selected Au dollars on the site.

    • I base it off the current exchange rate which is 42.54 AUD as people use different payment methods. Unfortunately the exchange rate on GB can be out of whack and Paypal takes a small portion for the currency conversion. A lot of people on Ozbargain use a CC like 28 Degrees or Citibank as there are no currency conversion fees.

      • +1

        Thanks for the speedy reply.

  • +3

Fantastic charger. I was sceptical at first but it turns out it isn't like the cheap multiport ones I've previously owned. Doesn't introduce ghost touches and charges my ipad quicker than original charger

  • How does it compare to this? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/210691

I have one of the blitzwolf but contemplating getting another like it…

    • +1

It lacks a Quick Charge 2.0 USB port. The "Power3s" technology it uses is essentially the same as VoltIQ.

      • Thank you, so since I have SGS5 there's no real benefit this has over blitzwolf?

        • +1

If you don't have a QC compatible device then there is no real benefit.

  • +5

Took one of these on an overseas trip, hammered it with a full load every night… didn't burn down the condo. 10/10
The tronsmart cable included wasn't too good though, already loose and not making contact without pushing it to one side. Get tikbro cables instead.

Would love to get the 5x QC titan model since most of the phones we used were QC 2.0 compatible, but size is not travel friendly.

    • Is the Titan a lot larger than the normal 5 port charger?
Rep, any dimensions for the Titan charger please? It wasn't on the website, thanks

      • +3

Pretty big difference. The 5 port is about the size of the xiaomi power banks or most 10000mah power banks, the Titan is slightly bigger than an iphone 6+ or a nexus width/length wise. Thickness they're pretty close with the titan being a bit thicker.

        Dimensions for the titan as per Amazon: 6.3 x 1.1 x 3.3 inches ; 10.2 ounces

        • +1

I posted a deal on the Titan last week

        • @Clear:
          Thanks krisspy.

Thanks Clear, I saw your deal, but I couldn't find the dimensions of the Titan on the product page

    • +2

have to agree wwith the micro usb cable, mine failed after a month use with loose micro usb contact.

      • I've had the opposite experience. My Tronsmart and Anker cables (appear to be rebranded versions of the same thing) have been faultless for over 6 months now used every day. All of my Tikbro cables became loose on the head within 3 months and the heads are so massive that it doesn't fit inside my phone case either.

        • +1

Same. Tikbro have mostly all failed for me and all my Tronsmart cables are fine - apart from one which was had the connector bent after dropping a table with it connected. Cable still works but is loose so the little hooks seem to have been bent. Can't fault it for that.

The Tronsmart ones just "feel" better quality to me too.

        • @Shonky: i totally agree on a better quality feel, never tried tikbro though. i ended up getting remax cable, been using it for a while and it does support QC2.0 http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l13…

    • +2

+1 on experience with Tronsmart Micro USB cables becoming loose on the end that connects to the device. Quite unfortunate as Tonsmart's equipment is usually pretty well manufactured (very happy with their charger and TV Box). The cable and interconnect TO the plug are fine, but the plug itself is inferior.

Every Tronsmart Micro USB cable my wife has used on her HTC One M7 has become loose after a couple of months. The two metal retainers are good initially, but after a few months you compare it to a new one and the retainers no longer have their bite. Results in failed connection, plug doesn't retain into socket of device and needs to be held at an "angle" to force contact.

Not sure if these "gold plated premium" ones are any better than the ones I purchased in August (http://www.geekbuying.com/item/product-346626/).

Granted, wife's cables tend to become loose (even the genuine HTC cables), but normally not as prematurely as the Tronsmart ones (normally get about 12 months). I've not had any issues with my phone (same M7), but probably treat it a bit more carefully.

Very interested to hear if the "gold plated premium" ones have resolved this issue. Perhaps Clear can send me a sample for a review :)

  • Ah I messed up and didn't apply the coupon code.
I hope the deal's still available by the time someone respond to my email.

    • Try the live chat on the site.

  • When the expiration date? Nothing listed. I'm assuming while stocks last?

  • reccomend this charger all the time! so great especially when travelling in groups I just take the one charger for everyone

    • Any issues using iphones/ipasds on this bad boy?

      • no issue so far. Been charging three Mobile OS platform. iOS , Android and Window.

Edit: It quicker than my original Iphone charger.

  • Do you actually need these micro usb cables to take full advantage of QC?

    • Existing OEM cables included with your phone should be fine. A lot of cables found online that cost a dollar usually charge significantly slower.

Hi OP, any suggestion in using to apple products? Planning to get 1 but cant see apple on the compatabilty list. Thank yoh

    • +1 Same question here.

    • +1

There is no Quick Charge 2.0 in the Apple devices, but it will benefit from the VoltIQ technology. Someone said above that it charges their iPad quicker than the original charger.

      • SOLD!

  • Being a noob, I have just discovered that most phones need 1A input and iPad requires 2.1A input. I have a 2.4A charger and the re-charging time is very fast time (no physical comparison available) for all smartphones and tablets including iPhone 6+ and IPad Air 2, IPad mini 4.

  • Ordered just the charger, total price was AUD 29.61. Thanks, I hope it's good because I had some other similar product and it was crap.

  • These support international voltage I'm assuming?

    • Yep.

  • Can you use a QC charger with a non QC phone such as Nexus 5? I have a LG G4 and it's supported; just wondering if it will damage non QC phones?

    • Oh I can see the charger has non QC ports, that will do!

      • If the QC port doesn't detect QC in your phone then it'll be the same as the other ports.

  • Just tried to buy the combo now but it's only dropping it to $37.29 USD - has it expired?

EDIT oops apologies - after I registered, the AU plug option appeared - all is well. Thanks!

  • This is a bit silly & pedantic. I have an american bank card that I cannot use. When I select Oz as my country, it goes to either paypal or western union. No option to use my american card. I suppose I could link it thru paypal and pay but, just saying…

    • On the first Paypal page there should be a little option that lets you use a card without linking it to your Paypal account.

      • Ta, order placed for the cables. I appreciate good cables. :)

  • Does the Huawei P8 work with this?

    • The P8 does not use Quick Charge 2.0 so only VoltIQ will work.

    • All phones that have a micro usb charging port will work with this.

  • +1

Does anyone make something with more than 1 QC2.0 port that isn't the size of a cinderblock and has an Aussie (or C7/C8) plug?

  • I've been looking for a QC2.0 charger for my M9, good timing!

  • I'm currently looking for a new charger. Is there a noticeable difference between chargers offering QC 2 versus QC 3?

    Thanks!

    • This article by Qualcomm will tell you. Basically it can charge up to 38% faster and focuses more on efficiency than speed. You're going to need a Quick Charge 3.0 compatiable phone to use it.

We've already got a few QC3 devices, but more are on the way.

      http://www.geekbuying.com/Search/?keyword=quick+charge+3.0

      • Excellent, thanks for that! I might hold out for a QC 3 charger then, as I'll be buying a new phone soon.

  • Recently got a USB cable and a lightning cable with voltage and amperage display. Tried it on some of the chargers and got some interesting results.

    • Apple 12A Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads, and Android devices too.
    • Apple 10A Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads and Android tablets, but won't fast charge Android phones.
    • Nexus 7 Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
    • Nexus 9 Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
    • Belkin Basic Fast Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
    • DSE Fast Charger: Will fast charge iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.

Charging phones with 0% (or near 0% battery level) test:

    • Ability to charge one of my Android phones that has a completely flat battery: All can except Belkin one. Those managed to charge it started with slow charging speed. Most of them do switch to fast charging mode except the Apple 10A charger.
    • Ability to charge a really old Android phone that has a completely flat battery: Only Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 chargers managed to charge the second phone with a completely flat battery. They both started with slow charging speed and then switched to faster charging mode.

Every charger is different. I don't have Tronsmart QC2. The specs look good. Still prefer the original chargers though.

    • +1

That would be Apple 12W and Apple 10W. Big difference.

      • yeah, thanks for pointing it out. sorry.. 12W and 10W.. cannot edit now..

Thanks OP, been looking for certified QC charger for my G4; the 5 port will help to prevent charger rage with my wife.

  • Hi op can you help me? I want to buy the charger also want to buy the UK plug as well, whats it called and where can i buy one?

    • +1

It's using a 2 pin cable that can be found online and instore. Might be worth trying eBay for a UK one.

  • Clear, are you able to get me a deal for Teclast X98 Plus, its available at Gearbest for $275 so anything better with faster shipping will be a bonus.
    Here is the link:
    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Teclast-X98-Plus-Dual-OS-Win1…

    • Why this particular tablet? (I've been after a tablet for awhile (my first ever!) and I can't decide, so just wondering…)

      • +1

First of all, I am getting it for someone who needs both Android 5.1 and Windows 10 so this is ideal as she will not have to carry two tablets and this has both installed. She will be carrying it with her all the time so the tablet has to be light weight and I feel that this screen size is ideal for reading, emailing etc. Moreover, you get roughly 10 hrs in Windows which will easily last a day or two with normal use.

I have owned Onda v919 dual and Chuwi vi10 and Hi10 and few others as well. Although, Chuwi makes good tablets, they do not have anything similar. I am having some minor issues with Onda so I want to give Teclast a try as the brand is highly regarded by this guy here.
        http://techtablets.com/teclast-x98-plus/review/

This is a perfect first tablet, although it depends upon what you are going to use it for. I already had SP3 when I bought mine but I rarely use it now. I would not want to go back to single OS tablets after using these dual boot Chinese tablets.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

        • I'll ask and get back to you.

        • @Clear:

Thanks, I will wait for your reply before placing the order.

        • +1

@san_narula: The best I can do is get an additional $10 US off the current price. So 10TECLASTPLUS brings it down to $186.89 US.

        • Thanks, that's really helpful!

Is it likely to get any Android updates?

        • +1

@nuchalis: Probably. Teclast released Lollipop updates for their Kitkat tablets. The downside with Dual OS is that the updates are usually manual and take a bit of extra effort to install.

        • @Clear:

Thanks, will order tomorrow. Are you able to find out which should I get for this tablet as I can't find any on the website.

        • @san_narula: Should get what sorry?

        • @Clear:

          Case/cover

          Somehow missed it. :-)

        • @san_narula: This keyboard case or normal case should work, but I'll ask and confirm. I could probably organise a coupon for case and the tablet.

        • @Clear:

Have already ordered the tablet but a coupon for case would be good.

  • +1

Thanks.. just ordered one - some very positive reviews on Amazon.com as well.

    http://www.amazon.com/Qualcomm-Certified-Tronsmart%C2%AE-Mot…

  • Thanks Ordered.

Will also order the QC 2.0 powerbank also once thats up.

  • Perfect timing thanks. Just about to order another anker 6 port wall charger for considerably more. I'm happy to try this one.

Strange site though. Took me to PayPal to pay, then gave me confirmation screen with a choice of shipping but no obvious button to confirm the order. Finally realised that the large PayPal banner half way down the screen was in fact the order confirmation.

Then the checkout success screen seems to be missing a paragraph. It says:

Please make sure that you have logged in your GeekBuying Account for the sake of obtaining further order tracking information and aftersale service.
    If not, please
Your order will be shipped normally in 2-7days and please feel free to Contact our customer service.
About the latest electronic products information, please keep staying with GeekBuying.com.

Line breaks, punctuation and missing sentence exactly as per the screen.

I'm using a tablet so on the mobile site.

    • +1

      You're buying from China.

      • Good point

      • Significantly better than the old checkout ;)

I might have to translate for them.

  • Just to clarify for people considering this charger, as the title is a bit misleading, only ONE of the FIVE ports is Quick Charge compatible. The other four are 5V/2.4A (essentially regular 2A) ports. I'm sure the other four would be the best non QC charging out, however.

    • +2

In my Tronsmart Titan post I said "Tronsmart Titan 5x QC 2.0 Port Charger" to try and differentiate it. I've hit the character limit in the title so its hard to try and change it.

      • Wasnt having a jab at you mate, was just posting to make it clear :)

        • I know. The character limit makes everything hard to make clear is all I'm saying.

  • Hi, I ordered the charger but forgot to apply the code at checkout! Can I have this applied, or alternatively cancel the order and re-order?
    Thanks for your help

    • I have sent an email to your sales dept

      • Try the Live Chat in the top right corner of the website. You'll get a quicker response.

        • +1

They have refunded initial amount and I redid my order. Great service!
