  • Can i use your promo code with my crowdfunding code?

Do yourself a favour and get something more reputable like a OnePlus or Xiaomi if you are buying Chinese phones. Especially at this price.

    Specs aren't everything.

    • +1

Elephone does actually have a fairly reasonable reputation.

      • What about updates? Have they commited to monthly android security updates? https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/android-security-upd…

        • No idea. Don't know if OnePlus or Xiaomi do either. I just know Elephone are generally well considered and reviewed.

        • @tantryl: I get almost fortnightly updates with my Xiaomi Mi4c.

No they don't. Just jump on their forum. One of their factory firmware updates contained a launcher that had pop up ads baked in. Complaints on forum, initially they flat out denied it. When forum users tracked the issue to the firmware update they quietly released another that removed the offending launcher. Who knows what ever crap they're doing. Having said that my flagship P7000 no longer powers up, while the P8000 is working fine. Bought an Oppo R7 during dicks troubles for $299, much better phone all round than the P7000. Wouldnt touch Elephone ever again, typical yumcha phone co.

Got the p7000…. Touch screen had failed and even a guy developing one of the best rom had his touch screen fail.

        Avoid avoid avoid

      • You obviously did not have the "privilege" of buying "flagship" P7000, an utter piece of crap, a flagshit phone!

    240 USD = 350 AUD
Why AUD is so weak nowadays…

    • Will be staying that way in the foreseaable future unfortunately.

  • 1) Does it come with Google play pre installed?
    2) What third party ROMs are available, and how easy is it to flash (unlock bootloader, fastboot, root etc)

    • 1) yes they do come with google play
      2) very few (if any) third party roms, fairly easy to unlook and install twrp etc but no roms anyway

Guys, Do yourself a favour and keep your money for the new Xiaomi Mi5 which is launching in 4 weeks time….

Some sad news for tinkers and phone modders: Xiaomi is now locking their bootloaders because a lot of buyers complained of vendors inserting some extra unwanted 'goodies' into the ROM.

XDA reports that you'll need to download a desktop program, log into an MIUI account on both your phone and a desktop browser, and wait for a verification and OEM unlock code from the company sent via SMS. Even that's more complex than it sounds, because the unlock tool is presented only in Chinese (though English walk-throughs are available), and you must supply a reason for your request. ("Because it's my damn phone" is the go-to justification for most enthusiasts, and rightly so.) Some users are reporting that they have to wait as much as three weeks in order to be verified and get their code.

  • Good spec phone but I don't see how this is a deal isn't it that just the RRP anyway…Should have this post remove.

In additional www.antelife.com is generally are more expensive that other such as coolicool and pandawill.

  • Be careful with Elephone, they are renowned for delayed releases. They also focus on releasing new phones with fancy specs, very little effort is placed on quality and support.
