Just been to Coles Sanctuary Lakes in VIC and all mobile cables were on special. I picked up two MFI certified lightning cables for $7.50 each. Check your local store for stock levels as not online.

Make sure you keep receipt for a refund if it fails within the warranty (1-3 years dependent on brand)

  • How long is it?

And I quote "the package" which says "80cm fully extended".

Officeworks may still have some lightning cables left for $4. I bought one 2 weeks ago. Look in the cubes near the checkouts if nothing is found in the cable section. Only 1m though: not sure how long these ones are. These are also retractable, which may excite some.

EDIT: These ones are 80cm, fully extended

  • Bought one on Tuesday for $15….. 😟

    • Almost did myself… Had it my hand but put it back and then ordered 2 MFI certified ones from eBay for $14. Looks like they'll now be spares… Just as well we are a 6 Apple devices family :(

When I look at that product, I worry about how thick the charging conductors are. To be flexible enough to roll up nicely, they might be using really thin wiring which in turn means voltage/current drop and slow charge speeds.

The fact that the packaging and website makes no mention of this critical specification makes me think that the AWG (wire guage) is not something that they want to talk about. If they are only using 30 AWG or 28 AWG power conductors, it'll be a frustrating thing to use after the novelty of the retractibility wears off.
