I'm curious, why would you want a 25x gb when a) it'll fill up real quick especially if an os installed, so b) a 5xx gb ssd is marginally more expensive and you'll buy one out of frustration anyway?
I think it depends what people use it for, I have a 250 GB in my case which was sufficient because I keep everything on my 2 TB portable drive and only occasionally run out of space before I bulk move files onto my portable, so I don't think I will ever max out my 500 GB based on how I personally use it anyway :)))
Windows 10 is only around 20GB. I don't need superfast storage for anything but the OS and a few applications. I have a 3tb WD Black for my 500+ Steam games.
keep OS on SSD and regular xtb as data disk….

They aren't marginally more expensive, they are about double the cost. 500 GB SSDs are in general around double the cost of 250 GB SSDs, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.
The chips used in 25x is different to 5xx that is why read write specs are different
Buy the 5xx…. it's not the controller they are the same it's the number of bits on the chips used and how the controller accesses them
Desktop users. I'm still using a 128gb 830 pro since I've got 20tb worth of drives for everything else. OS, programs and even a copy of LoL fit just fine with about 40gb to spare
