The rear camera moved slightly with the iPad Air 2. The cases that fit both would usually have an elongated cut-out to accommodate the two different camera locations. Judging from the black version, I'd think not as the camera cut-out looks circular.
The iPad Air 2 is also thinner, so cases with more rigid plastic clip-ons would not be ideal to fit both iPad Air and iPad Air 2.

No case/holder is rigid. Looking at mine now I've cracked it at some stage obviously getting the ipad out
i wanted to know that and went back to dr.google to cheak. really could not find answer. one thing as mentioned by quarrymaster the rear camera is moved so camera would not be used with this case. for me this is not a deal breaker because i don't use ipad for photography at all. my only concern is if this case fit ipad air 2 properly.
the volume button has also been moved slightly on the ipad air 2…bought a case off COTD on a previous deal and only realised this after the case had arrived.
well I bought one and picked it up today. IT fits fine but as been said before camera is moved so it covers camera little bit. IT is heavy case, construction and material is top notch. I am happy with it because camera is not my problem I don't use ipad for photography. here is the photo
