Try booking the flights on the Singapore Airlines front page. Comes up as $388.40 for me still. Also keep in mind the flight is only four days a week so it may depend on your dates

Who does want to do work related travel in their own time?

  • Hence the detailed explanation and sample dates provided by OP.

      Have you tried to book?

"There may be no flights and/or seats for the journey you've selected. To proceed, select alternative date(s)."

Is this a direct-flight to WLG?

There is no Customs desk in Canberra. This could be a CBR-SYD-WLG route.

Singapore Airlines are starting SIN - CBR - WLG direct from September.

      • Singapore Airlines are starting SIN - CBR - WLG direct from September.

Interesting. <3000m runway length. I wonder what take-off weight restriction(s) SQ will require for their planes leaving WLG & SIN.

There are immigration desks upstairs AFAIK.

Customs removed their desk from CBR since the last QF international flight back in early 2000. And since then, CBR has gone through some changes.

Will be interesting to see. Happy to see more international flights out of CBR as an alternative entry/exit point.

Main runaway 3,283m, even bigger than Adelaide Airport. your facts are about 16 years old :)

          Cool. Thanks for the correction.

        • I wonder what take-off weight restriction(s) SQ will require for their planes leaving WLG

Stopping at CBR means they won't need so much fuel when taking off on the short 2,081m runway at WLG airport.

If by "some" changes you meant demolished the old terminal and built a whole new one. Yes, some changes.

        • +1

The new terminal was built for international departures - they already have signage pointing to the allocated International Departures area (which currently ends in a wall reading "The World - Coming Soon") and were just holding off until an airline signed up before fitting it out with border clearance facilities. There are several gates which are designed to be cordoned off for international operations.

So yes, Canberra Airport knows exactly what it's doing here.

    • Yes it's direct. There are immigration desks upstairs AFAIK.

No desks, just a couple of chairs.

They are rebuilding the customs area shortly.

  • Out of curiosity, what was the last international flight of Canberra and what airline?

    • Air Pacific to Fiji

      • -2

Air Pacific doesn't exist anymore. Now called Fiji Airways. Last international flight was a B737 to Iraq with the prime minister and co. on board. Which airline - yours.

        • +3

          A B737 can't fly direct to Iraq.

        • @inherentchoice:

Destination is Iraq. Never said it could get there in one hop.

    • +2

      what airline

Royal Australian Air Force VIP aircraft. They are based at Canberra airport and do domestic and international flights. However you need to be the Prime Minister to use them.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Australian_Air_Force_VIP…

      • Doesn't necessarily need to be the Australian air force… you can be the Prime Minister or President of another country big enough to afford its own VIP aircraft!

    very random flight route

This promotion is no longer available.

as I click thru the "Deal"

  • So what will they be using? A380 would be to big so 777 maybe?

  • +1

Now if they could build a high speed train from Sydney to Canberra, more airlines will follow suit!

  • One of the best cities in the world, Wellington. Think of a smaller Melbourne with cafe culture & arts + a little chillier (read windy). You have seals nearby at redrocks & general NZ goodness. The flight in is amazing seeing the mountains & houses pretty much parallel to the plane near landing. A little bias as I lived there for quite a while… but still a gorgeous place.

  • i like wellington, i can fart and be comfortable the wind will carry it away before my wife smells it
