    Ridiculous promotion.

    • +27

Yeah but what else actually happens in Canberra.

      • +4

        Political circle jerks?

      • Um, summernats? Fyshwick? And lots of other, less bogany, things as well but I thought the question seemed to be asked in a bogany context.

    • "Ridiculous" … Why?

  • +17

even if you have to wait 2 hours, its worth going if you can fill a whole tank. Get some books on tape and watch the carnage unfold

      ^ a true ozbargainer

    • +15

Dude thats softcore. What a true ozbargainer would do is roll up with a huge water tank or something on the back of a ute/truck and fill that =P

If Katey's there, count me in!

  • +1

    How much stock is there?

  • +3

How much is your time worth? It's an interesting question.

Personally if I could save $200 I'd be happy to queue for 2 hours. But I'm sure that there are many who would disagree.

    • +6

you have a 200 litre petrol tank? most cars have about a 50ltr tank… so assuming you fill that, then $50 saving.
obviously different if you're a truck driver!

      • +4

Or if you have a 4wd and jerry cans!

But to be fair, this is probably a great deal for many out there.

      • -8

        Most 4WD nowadays have a 150-200l tank.

        • +6

Oh yeah heaps of cars have 200l tanks

      • +2

Two hours? The wait will be extremely long! If it starts at 12, you must be there hours in advance!

        • Probably not worth it for most. For someone making say $25 an hour they would make pretty much make back the $50 they could save.

People seem to forget about time value of money when it comes to these things (other examples include long lines for free burgers that are only worth $10 tops). Although might as well if you have nothing to do on the day :)

        • +1

@danzha: it only really applies if you're missing work/not earning money to get the petrol. If it's on an RDO then you're earning money while you wait.

Can we price match at Coles or Woolies Petrol station ;-)

I am pretty confident there is a limit how much can be purchased per customer. Would laugh if it's 10 liters or something like that.

  • id have to save 50 or more an hour, and i only have. 30 litre tanks :(

  • for one second I thought it was you in the Pic Normie : )

I like a bargain, but there's no way I'd queue for petrol with all the bogans even if I lived in Canberra.

  • +3

    I don't think it matters.
    The promotion has already worked
The cheap fuel is arbitrary at this point.

    Well Done them.

    • +3

They should be paying the ACT government for the costs to manage the chaos this will cause.

      • +1

Negative externality borne by act taxpayers now ;)

a petrol station where i grew up had a topless car wash when i was a kid, the queue was over 1km long, even brand new cars were getting washed.

    • +12

      So, it washed only convertibles?

      Turns convoy ex Brisbane around.

  • any metro's in brisbane ?

I filled at that station a couple of times before. The reason why there's usually queues - wait for it - is because of the eftpos terminal. It is perhaps the slowest thing on this planet. It takes it like 2 minutes to process a payment. I haven't paid in cash but I suspect it will be much quicker.

If 4 cars finish filling up at the same time, the last customer will be in for 6 minutes wait. Meanwhile couple cars rock up and can't enter even though the front 2 already left. It only takes couple more cars to create the illusion that this place is busy.

Not sure if this is intentional or a short sighted arrangement.
