  • after doing click and collect, can we ask for delivery, wouldnt want to lug that machine by self !

    • +3

That's what I did for a different washing machine during the G-Guy's 20% promo.

I did click and collect then rang the store once it was in stock and they Direct Debited $60 and they delivered and installed and removed old one.

Paid about $1k a couple(?) of years ago. Really nice unit. Apart from the markings around the dial smudged and coming off (from eucalyptus oil?) which was replaced on-site for free anyway, it's been going strong.

So looks like a great deal, but I don't know how this unit compares to the competition nowadays.

    • Edit: ours is the XAC model.

    • +2

Same as you… Still going strong, definitely a good buy :)

If its click and collect just be mindful that this thing is really heavy. I had to lug it up 3 flights of stairs and it was hard work.

    • +1

      I'm impressed !
The thought of doing that just about puts my back out.

Thank god for all those protein deals! Nah I had a trolley but even then it was tough work, that appliance is the heaviest thing in my house.

Not too sure about Samsung washing machine after reading all the horrible news online. You might need home content insurance.

    • Wasn't that event about Samsung top loaders from a few years ago?

    • +2

They refer to the top load ones.

    • Link, otherwise it's all made up. :)
Anyway, I'm sure stories could be dredged up on any brand or model.

I've had a Samsung (top loader) for years and it's been very reliable.

Heaps of articles about the Samsung top loaders catching fire, haven't heard any such major issues with the front loaders though.

        • Ok.

Still, my top loader hasn't caught fire yet in the 4 or 5 years I've had it.

          @redcreek200:

If it is one of the affected units please get it replaced.

They will give you a new unit if you want!

Think if your home did go up what you would lose…

          @diddy50:
          Thanks @diddy
Just checked. Mine's a different model fortunately. (unfortunately, if I wanted a new replacement, I guess :)

    • With laundry machines like that, who needs dryers!

Seriously though, tell me of a company that has never made something crap and refused to owe up. I returned a kettle last week because its lid wouldn't open properly after a few months. That kettle had been a replacement for a different brand kettle, which I had returned because the lid would not open properly after a few months. I expect that in a few months, I will be retu…………..

Anyway, you get my point. But I do not think you should be negged for pointing out a safety issue. Even if people are tired hearing of it, there might be one person who goes "hey, I have one of those!".

BTW, there's a long thread about this machine on Whirlpool forums but they talk about the WF1104XAC, where this deal is for the WF1104XBC.

  • Thats cheap

  • I have the 8kg Samsung. It's better than the f&p and LG. Such a decent unit. Daily wash is useful and short, love the high speed and the temp goes to 95. Very good unit. Bargain!

  • hey guys, just a warning Samsung support is very bad as per the last few years so just a heads up. replacement plans are a must to avoid dealing directly with Samsung.
Im a huge fan of all of their products, but service makes their products worth less than nothing

Beware… Samsung washing machines have a tendency to BLOW UP!

  • The best thing about front loaders is that you can sit the kids in front of it while it does it's thing… Keeps them entertained for about 2 hours. The important thing to remember is that the clothes go on the inside and kids stay on the outside. Unless of course they're wearing the clothes that need washing.

Anyone have any experience with front loaders and elderly people who do the washing? I'm worried my parents would find it difficult to use a front loader because of back problems.

    What's a good top loader (8kg min) for $799?

    • My parents are in their 70s and they have no problem with a front loader.
It all depends on your parents agility really.
A front loader washes better than a top loader and more water&energy efficient.
      It also uses less detergent.
You will find that this 10kg washer will have a larger lid and may open right up to 180deg (check with good guys), making it easier to load and unload.
I have a direct drive 8.5kg Samsung washer and it washes very well and very quiet.
I have not used an inverter front loader so I can't comment on this one.
The bubbles generator at the beginning of a cycle helps dissolving washing powders extremely well (great Samsung innovation).

      • Actually top loaders are harder on the back to unload than a front loader, as long as they bend at the knee to unload it will be no problem especially as the high spin speed of front loaders means the wash is pretty dam dry at the end so it is light. You could also get a pedestal which will raise the machine up.

        • +1

That makes sense. I will buy a small stool so that they can sit on it while doing the washing.

    • I used a front loader recently on a homestay overseas and found it far more painful to use. I've got a painful lower back. I was bending far more with this front loader. Maybe bad technique on my part, don't know. Just easier for my back with the top loader.

    • You could prop it up a bit and put a small stool in front. Reaching into a top loader isn't always ideal either.

      • Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely buy a stool.

        • No worries. My Mum's into her 70s and sometimes in an apartment where there seems to be a mandatory clothes dryer, it's not always feasible to have a top loader. I got her the 7kg model I think. And a stool!

    • Washing machine stand is another option if there's enough room. This is Masters' version but there are plenty of others out there.

      https://www.masters.com.au/product/101094376/easy-living-fro…

No as cheap as a stool but adds extra storage.

      • uh bad idea, especially with samsung who understandably refuse to service machines that are locked into pedestals like this. it's a safety issue in any case. and most ppl cannot to the heavily lifting required to put a machine with a 60kg concrete block at the bottom on top of a pedestall.

(it's also not just samsung that dont like pedestals, bosch and electrolux hate it too)

        but yeah w/e

        • Guess it's not for everyone. Works well for my elderly mother with a bad back.

But yeah, she's not paranoid about a machine with a 60kg concrete block somehow dislodging itself and becoming a safety issue.

    • I think I saw a drawer unit that you can sit under a front loader to raise it off the ground a little, provide some storage and maybe make it a bit easier on the back, was at Aldi so Buckley's of then having then now but you knight be able to find something similar

  • I have just read some really bad reviews on the model WF1104XAC which points toward a motherboard E3 replacement error on the XAC. But this machine is a WF1104XBC model. I am not sure what the difference is between XAC and XBC. I suspect it might be difference on the LCD screen and the LED screen. Samsung support could not tell me the difference either.
I have not seen a brand new Samsung 10kg washer at this $799 price point ever (bargain price!!!).
Anyone know where this is made???

    • Just checked ours is the XAC. So far so good.

The Samsung WF1104XAC is known for motor issues. I wonder what this one is like.

  • No pickup avaliable for Auburn NSW :(

    • How on earth can you even fit that thing into your car?

      • I wasn't. Need to pickup for the $100 voucher. Was then going to call for delivery.
I wanted to select Auburn just I case they don't allow for delivery and I have to come and pickup.

    • What's the difference between the two machines?

      • The BingLee offer was an updated model.
The Good Guys must be clearing the old models now.

      • That new machine can talk to your android phone.

        • Looks at my phone. Sees Samsung.

w00t! Now to wait for that deal again.

        • @cDNA:

I don't need that kind of feature and I'm happy with effectively buying this machine for $699. (I have a trailer to transport it)
Also, our machine literally crapped out yesterday and over the phone repair estimates ranged from $400 - $700.

      • The Bing Lee one is a combined washer/dryer. Those usually go for $1k++.

It's great if you wanted to save space and one unit does everything, but I'm not sure if some days being able to wash and dry separately is more versatile. We only use the dryer for a small portion of what we wash anyway, like bedsheets and towels. The rest we air dry. Most clothes coming out of the front loader are fairly dry already, but we tend to lower the RPM so the clothes don't end up too hard/stiff.

  • Will it fit at the back of 4wd?

    • From memory the box can be rather large. You can take the unit out of the box first, but I'm happy to leave it to the "professionals".

    • I fit the previous model in the back of a commodore station wagon

  • Has anyone actually seen this WF1104XBC in the shops? I couldn't find it on Samsung's website (could just be them), and clicking on The Good Guys's link, the picture they've used is the WF1124WBC, which supports 12kg. I found that from the Samsung Singapore page.

  • It's back to $799 again. Promotion ends 22nd of Feb.
