[PS4/XB1] FIFA 16 - $59 @ JB Hi-Fi

50

Hi all,
Went in store and got the standard Fifa 16 for PS4 for $59. Not sure how long the promotion is going on for but they have plenty of stock at the Broadway store in NSW.

True story: I recently sold an old original xbox. To test it, i inserted FIFA05 into the console. Graphics aside, game play was damn near identical to fifa 15 which i have on xbone.

I was dumbfounded. The game was perfectly playable and youd barely notice the difference once you got into it.

I love me a game of fifa but its almost criminal how they get people to buy each year with such little innovation from Year to year.

      Yep, I played Fifa 2000, 2008 and 2014.

Paid $100, $50 and $1 (thanks OZB) for them respectively. The gameplay has barely changed and the same annoying startup sequences exist (long load times to connect to EA etc). Every year there is all the rage for 'new gameplay' and all that but basically all they do it tweak the stats and add new players/team changes. Between '14 and '16 There is zero difference unless you are a hardcore addict at the tops ranks.

Quite possibly the worst value game ever. It would be like paying $100 for CSgo every year.

      • $1 for 2014? Impressive. How?

Wouldn't really call it "criminal" because they don't truly get people to buy it each year.
They release it, it's up to people as to whether they want to buy it or not.. and people do. Whether it's rational to buy it or not though is another question.. and based on your initial paragraph, the answer is probably "no".

Btw I was not your negger

If you get into the more advanced controls, I've found the game has progressed over the years with innovations like no touch, stopping, hard stop, first touch, protect/manual protect, jockey, face up dribbling, chip shot, finesse shot, fake pass/shot, lobbed through ball, bouncing lob pass, low cross, ground cross, early cross, flair pass, flair shot, driven ground pass, tactics, shirt pulling, quick get up, fake tackle, free kick/corner plays, penalties and of course, online play. :)

      • Looks like we know who the more "flair" player is here ;)
        5* Skill moves??

        • Trick stick for dayz!

Forgot to mention tricks and celebrations!

Does anyone know how much I'd get at EB games for my fifa15?

      $5-10 tops

Youll get $20 on gumtree over the weekend, unless you live atop Uluru or something similar

Aww come on guys. Please say something good about it. I couldn't resist….Just paid $59 for it. Lol

The issue with games like this and NBA etc is that as soon as the latest version comes out no one seems to play the previous year online and is hard to find players online for this reason.

    Massive soccer fan here.

Iv got every Fifa since Fifa international soccer on SNES.

    After FIfa 11 i stopped.

    Too repatative.

  • I have FIFA 06 on PS2, FIFA 08,09, 10, 10WC, 11,12,13,14, 14WC on PS3, and FIFA 14,15 and 16 on PS4. One game I love playing with my son (now 13) together, and he has won several online tournaments as well. Won Div 1 online for FIFA 14. Now that he is in Sydney Boys High, he gets less time, even over the weekends, so mostly I play. Still in Div 4 online. And no pack luck in getting good players this year (spent over $100, and 60-70 k in match coins). Level 92 now - it takes progressively longer to rise up. E.g, currently to clear this level, I need 1.2 Mil XP. Needless to say, if you are into the game, it provides you hours of entertainment. And there have been changes.
Best in last installment FOR ME has been the buildup of play, and players instructions.
