Instill some values in your newborn by steering clear of this uber bubba consumerism.

    • Sorry to neg you. I don't think this is consumerism, it's buying a top quality product. We've got the Bee+ (the previous generation) and it has been going strong for 6 years and two kids through all kinds of terrain (OK, not snow) and has been a delight to use throughout. Lightweight, one-piece fold, and glides through the smallest of gaps. Any discount (usually nothing on Bugaboo) is a deal worth considering if you're in the market.

Consumerism 101: An increase in wealth corresponds to the manufacture of needs. I can assure you that any pram (including a $20 job from Target) will last successive infants, it will submit to any temporal surface, will be lighter and more versatile (its width is not a premium feature but just a tangible fact discoverable through the metric system). Unfortunately, it will not invoke pure joy to use (a psychological state contingent on the consumption of a product decreed as joyful to use) because it is a means to an end……conveying your child.

        • lol spot on. We now have nappy changing stations for $$$$$. Previously it was called the parents bed or a towel on the floor. NEWSFLASH the child doesn't care.

        • We can debate this all day. I have a $20 stroller from Kmart in my car (my wife takes the Bugaboo). The $20 job is a piece of shit. It never gets used. Rough surfaces gum its wheels. It doesn't recline. It doesn't have a sunshade. It doesn't have a rainshade. Sure it's lighter but it's more prone to tipping, doesn't glide as nicely etc. If buying a better product is consumerism then I don't see the negative. If consumerism means buying an overpriced product, or one that does not provide value for money (a now-dated example would be Vertu mobile phones) then that is indeed an evil.

        • @db sa:

Your argument is flawed as you are comparing a $1000 item with a $20 item. There is quite a large middle ground.

As long as people can genuinely afford spending $$$ on this type of stuff I have absolutely no problem with it. It's good for the economy (I think) BUT the number of times I hear people whinge about how times are tough and how they are ran off their feet and stressed out etc, yet the same people make poor choices when it comes to buying items they really don't need is what I find annoying and have zero sympathy for.

Does it have a phone holder/charger?

  • +2

    The world is f@@@d

  • +1

    How…about…no…

  • Are you kidding me? Do people actually want to be seen in public with this? Its just damn ugly but I guess consumerism is "on trend" with all the hipsters.

I got my newborn a 2nd hand commodore… with 2 cup holder. $599 with 6 months rego. Saves me pushing.

    Really? 1k

As a first time mum who knew nothing about prams and just bought a pram from Big W, I am amazed at the number of people who would pay $1k+ (some are close to $2k) for a pram. It's not for the baby; it's for all the parents to look cool as is the case with everything nowadays.

I got a 2nd hand Bugaboo from ebay for around $200 mark. RRP price new is suppose to be $1500.

Its pretty silky smooth and effortless to push around compared to cheaper alternatives. Yes expensive but drives great!

If it also change nappies Ill take 10

Soon to be parent and have no idea about prams - if everyone says this is a major rip-off can they give me some pointers for good cheaper brands? Mainly after a pram that is able to go on the sand at the beach/go for a jog on the path. Easy enough to fold up, fits in the boot of a mazda 3. Cheers

    • +1

You'll need some big ass 4 wheel drive wheels to go on sand. Do people actually push prams on a beach? Never seen anyone do this, heaps on the paths next to beach but the actual beach??

I second this as well. Just pull one strap and it folds in about a second. The wife loves it. Not sure if it will fit a Mazda 3. We got ours at Baby Bunting last year for about the mid $300 if I remember correctly. PRO TIP : put the pram on layby for as long as you can so the warranty kicks in closer to when the Bub actually needs it rather when it was actually purchased. Was told this by a staff. Bub was due May, the lady let us put it on layby til about late March even though the deal was in January. Hope this helps. Any questions please let me know. First time Dad here.

        • Hey 45Troboi - Did you get the City Mini or the City Mini GT? A lot of reviews recommend the GT which is around $200 dearer than the City Mini.

    • Hey sternocleido. First off Congratulations!! Secondly, have used and our daughter loves the pram as suggested by callmejon. Thirdly if you have any questions feel free to ask me. Will help where I can. First time Dad to a soon to be 9 month old Angel.

  • Baby Jogger here as well. Got mine from USA when the dollar was great. Great sturdy pram. Built like a tank. Only problem was my kid wanted to walk or be carried so bought an Ergo baby as well. Pram became my trolley lol. Nowadays it gets used as a pram but earlier on felt like I wasted money on it.

  • I'm guessing this pram runs on Premium unleaded and not that cheap E10 crap.

    • Not only E10 but also Gatorade, MOther and Red bull. I suppose this pram gives ur little one "Wings"

$800.. really. I bought a similar looking convertible pram from K-mart for $100 a year back and its still going strong.

If you have a lot of spare money - donate it to some charity. Dont waste money by giving $800 to a less than $100 pram.

1st kid, Valco branded pram given to us to use.
Worked fine, not too heavy, folded easy and fairly compact.
A bit bigger so could fit a backpack (or shopping under) which was very useful.

    2nd kid, gumtree bugaboo ~$200
Didnt want it, but wife 'insisted'. Decided to get the bugaboo.
It rolls really well, perfect for shopping centres.
Different seating positions are nice (but not a game changer)
little bit harder to fold in and out.
Was a bit smaller, so annoyingly, could not put much under storage of the pram.
But smaller means a little bit easier driving it through a restaurant or something.
Embarrassing to push because people might think you spent 1k+ on a pram

Would never buy one full price, but ok for the 2nd hand if price is right

This pram was only one of two prams recommended by Choice magazine. A lot of the other popular branded prams had safety concerns. Sure it's on the high side pricewise - but there's plenty more prams that are more than double the price of this. The bonus also is that this pram is relatively light so easy to carry in and out of the boot. BTW we didn't end up buying this pram and went for a much cheaper one (Redsbaby bounce).
