I have the standard EVGA Superlocked 980Ti 6GB which I bought release day. It is nothing short of absolutely effing amazing and was a great step up from my 780Ti. For $826 + postage, this is a great price. I'm tempted to grab one myself just because the price is so great.

Very nice and much needed card yet I would kick myself when the next gen nvidia tech is out which has been confirmed to use some much faster ram or some big improvement. Also more expensive items are harder to sell second hand and take a bigger loss. If shipping was free or cheaper it would have narrowed the gap to a sweeter spot.

    • I'm kind of tempted to get one but all that's been said about the new cards I think I might wait.

      • You can always use that excuse. You can get the Pascal release and another card will be announced that will make you wait even longer. Always best to bite when you come across a great price.

But haven't all the last series of cards for many years just sped up current technology
I mean they are so similar with no big leaps
This is supposed to be 5x faster than gddr ram or whatever it's supposed to be
This is one of those alleged leaps and if so the excuse this time is different

        • @thelastnoob: Top end Pascal card is said to have 32GB with HBM… so it is better to wait if you don't have any urgency to upgrade.

        • Not sure why you are getting negged. It is true. If you ever wait for the next card every year, the wait will never end. Just get it and be happy about it if you really needed the upgrade.

        • @ProjectZero: To be honest, that 32GB will never come to consumer model, probably the next TITAN or Quadro have a possiblity of getting that.

Consumer doesn't even use 6GB vram for 4K, what makes you think they will release the next top end consumer card with 32 GB?

        • @Letrico:

I don't know, pretty much rumors at this stage. Also read that they are changing the naming scheme to Titans. Would be interesting if they bring our a 32GB card though, pre-load the whole game onto a GPU and run it off that purely.

Not sure myself, I only meant that if you are in no hurry to upgrade, it would be better to wait.

In this case, no. You'd have to be stupid to buy with Pascal so close. It's not the typical performance boost, this is one worth waiting for and worth spending more for.

        • My 770 is still kicking ass, so I'll probably wait till the new cards, that way it's a big leap from what I've got.

        • While that is true in previous cases as the past few generations have been using GDDR5 as their RAM tech, the new gen will be using HBM, providing a huge amount of bandwidth advantages, the lower-ends will also use GDDR5X, an upgraded GDDR5, which also provide a noticeable performance boost.
The chips themselves, however, have unknown performance advantages as they haven't been released yet, so it is unknown as this point. Even if it provides minor performance boost similar to previous generations.

With some changes in tech coming in the next generation, in my opinion it would be wise to wait for the benchmarks to see. If it was any previous generations, all the way back to the GTX 400s, I would've said "grab this deal".
Otherwise, it is a good price for the card as far as pricing is concerned.

Pascal and Polaris are coming out this year. I think it best to wait it out.

  • That's a very nice price indeed.

  • Is that AUD or USD in title?

    • +3

      AUD.

      • Thanks! Can someone add that to the title please?

  • FYI classified and ftw are the only ones on discount

  • Anyone had experience in RMA-ing to Newegg?

    • EVGA has international warranty. So you can RMA direct with them.

      • I've asked before, they don't have local (Aus) RMA, so RMA'ing through Newegg might be cheaper (provided that shipping is paid for by Newegg which I doubt)

        • Last I checked, Newegg only offered like 2 weeks warranty for international orders. Add to that, I'm pretty certain you pay the shipping to them.

I've pretty much ruled out buying things from them because of that.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong..

  • AMD Polaris will come out before Pascal

I am just going to leave this here for anyone considering buying this card

  • When does this end?

    • Original 10% deal says 3 days from now.

  • Best GPU deal since the Sapphire Fury Tri-X for $740 shipped, which was about within 10% of the 980 Ti in performance. $86 dollars for the extra 10% improvement is not bad at all.

    • $740 shipped vs $886 shipped, so not quite

    • It's more than 10%.

Problem is with reviews and benchmarks of other cards is that they use stock/reference nvidia cards for comparison. Check out reviews for actual non-reference GPU's (like these: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/#980 ti ).

It's quite a large performance jump over reference and that's out of the box not even including an overclock (easy on maxwell) which is another significant performance increase.

  • Did this deal end? I get a total of $948.78 incl. post with the discount code.

    • Discount code is going still. The price of this card has gone up. I'll mark as Expired.

  • its moved on to the ftw and sc cards
