My Comment: This has a minimum credit limit of $500 and so, at $95 per year, this might be a good way of getting that extra Amex Offers card without extending your credit limits by too much.

So you gotta pay $95 for the privilege, plus endure a hit on your credit file, then spend $1,500 over 3 months? For 30,000 QFF Points?

    Hmmm…

    • +11

No, you don't gotta. It is optional.

    • I did the 100k virgin frequent flyer points on a $350 per annum card.

So far with that card Ive:

      1. Flown domestically return for free.

      2. booked a flight to the US and back (w/ $170 in fees and 96k points spent). Oh and 2 virgin lounge visits.

So $520 has gotten me flights worth about $1500 return, plus flights about $240 return.

Im not sure how good QFF's are, but seriously these deals are nuts. Once I hit 1 year I plan on using my next years domestic flights then looking to churn to another frequent flyer program signup bonus.

Even if I closed my AMEX account as soon as I earned the 100k points they stay on my account too.

Is it when worth it, ANZ is 75k and no fee

    • +4

It may be if you are ineligible for the ANZ card or you want both

    • Anz points are not as valuable compared to velocity or qantas either. I did the 60,000 velocity points for $150 fee. They go for around $700 if I sold them. $500 profit can't complain

  • +1

Good for those continuous flippers. The NAB. Velocity is best value @ 60000 pts

    • Plus 1.5 points per $1 on Amex as well..

  • Free membership into the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program saving you $82.50.

Two lines down they claim they charge $95 for this rather than it being free.

Credit cards can be used to make a net gain however that isn't what the majority of users do - they spend more money than they would have if they had paid cash. You have no way of knowing if you are one of these users unless you never use the card where you previously paid cash and nobody thinks this behavior applies to them despite the odds indicating that you are much more likely to be than not.

Would it surprise people that the incentives also caused you to spend more than the previous form of cashless payment you used?

  • No rule on on exempting those having had a credit card with them in last 12 months?

    • "Offer only available to new approved NAB credit card customers who apply by 30 April 2016. Offer is not available when closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account"

      • So "new" includes those who closed their account 6months ago?

        • +1

If your closing QF and moving to VA card, it's fine. They recommend doing it if you ring up. Note: you need to close and reapply, you can't transfer

  • When do they charge the annual fee, at the end of e year or at the start ?

    • +1

Initially - just after your account is opened. And then on the anniversary of that.

      • Sorry to correct you peck but i have this card and they haven't charged the fee yet. Opened on the 10th March, spent the $1500, paid it off yesterday and closed the account today. No annual fee charged and the CSA confirmed $0 balance and the account is now closed. Made sure i closed after the 30,000 points went into my FF acc. All i lost was the points on the purchases. They haven't been able to raise the first statement yet which is when i think they apply the annual fee. Happy to be proved wrong though. They even credited me with 35,000 which was a nice bonus.

        • HeHe! Nice finesse. Well done!

  • am waiting NAB's 40000 FF points no annual fee card
