I think the OP is selling us candy…

      • Your neg is like a badge of honour jv

    • See my post regarding 25% off booster seats. Price gets reduced at the checkout. Well it did in store, not sure about online.

  • Any link please?

  • You know the adage "less is more". It works for ozbargainers only when you are talking price, else More is always better.

  • Hello OP. Which Foldable Booster Seat are you talking about??? I can't find the one you state sells for $29 (Save $23). You sure you talk about Big W and maybe not Target or K-mart?

    • See the image I uploaded

I have a feeling there was an extra discount on car seats in store (25% from memory). Perhaps that's where the $29 is coming from. Can't be sure though sorry guys.

And under this post was https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/233608 :-D

  • Sorry everyone was trying to upload the picture above but I chickened when the Mrs told me that the food was ready so had to delay it. :-/

Nothing more to say than…. WTF? Even the pic says $39

    • 25% off mate. Read comments. See updated pic.

    • See the receipt

  • I got one of these a while back. Used mine for a day as they are next door to useless. Flimsy and unsafe, there is no proper belt path. Meaning it's likely the belt will go across your child's neck - so really great in a crash I'm sure. If money is a factor, buy a decent second handy from Gumtree.

Tried it on both my kids. The seat belt path is ok, under their necks. Flimsy but I wouldn't say it's unsafe

Maybe your child is too short for it

      • I have and recommend the Safe N Sound Hi Liner - 5 of 5 stars, can be found for ~$50 on eBay.

The Hi-Liner is way more substantial, and with height adjustment for the head. But ~$50? Good luck!

        • The first one I just found on ebay is $30, no bidders and ends in 40 minutes. If you do an advanced search and look for completed listings only, you'll see that they average ~$50 for completed listings.

        • @AlisonP: Always ask the seller to post a picture of the sticker on the shell with the date of manufacture. If I remember correctly the recommended lifespan of seats varies between 7-10 years, depending on the manufacturer.

These are great value. If you know how to secure them properly, if you know how to adjust a seat belt, then you will have no problems. Beware of paranoid helicopter parents who say things like, "I don't need to see my child fly past me", presumably because this would be an inconvenience.

        • I actually have expensive child/ booster seats but due to their size I doubt theyre secure enough on my car seats. They actually tilt a little bit. You can adjust the seatbelt height in most modern cars if the seat belt goes over the Childs neck

      • You're comparing 2 entirely different seats. The one you're suggesting people buy secondhand without necessarily knowing its history (HUGE no-no) is a tethered seat. This is an untethered seat, which by law must be under 2kg in weight.

They're 2 entirely different seats for 2 entirely different purposes. Given the choice, I would go for a tethered seat every time, but it's not always an option, and for those times it's not, this is a good, safe seat. There is nothing dodgy about it. It complies with rigorous safety standards.

3 out of 5 safety stars. You get what you pay for. Got a $29 child? Buy one of these.

Got a $50 child? Go on eBay and buy second hand…

We have a Safe 'n' Sound for our youngest but this cheepo is good to keep in the boot for whenever we have an additional kid in the car. It actually is fairly sturdy when fitted correctly.

Having bought an elcheapo seat of unknown history from Ebay I would suggest you are probably not in a position to judge anyone who is considering buying this one.

Anyone else read this as "insecure" foldable booster seat.

    • Yes, I actually did after I wrote the post :)

  • Unless you have used it reading comments from the web is useless. We have one and if you know when and how to use it, this is a great product.

Alison, I may be incorrect last time I checked OZBARAGAIN was a forum to list great deals / prices on items others may want and NOT a site to provide parenting advice / judgments.

Mine scanned at $29 too. They are advertised at $39 so I was quite happy when they scanned cheaper. I got one for my 7yo to use when travelling with friends as they are so portable and convenient

True, its a bargain, but technically not using a seat at all could be considered a bargain because it involves a saving. I'm pointing out that this seat has a sub par safety rating. If you feel judged because of this it's not my concern. If you feel completely comfortable with your decision to purchase a child safety device based on cost as opposed to safety rating, then good for you.

      • +1

I don't feel judged because I know I am going above and beyond what is required to keep my children safe.
        Good day to you

        • Buying a 3 star seat is not going above and beyond, it's called purchasing the cheapest seat available.

I'll have a great day, thank you, you too.

  • Scanned as $39 at the checkout today. $39 is already 25% off $52, so maybe they realised their error

    • +1

      Scans $39
Hit pay and it will change to 29

      • Cool. Thanks for the tip - can't believe I didn't try that the first time. Cheers
