Before you ask. It's not as good as the Samsung evo. But as I read many times for 99% of people you won't notice. Lol

On a serious note that's not a bad price. Tempted to grab one as a working drive for photo files.

Why not just put the prices in AUD

    • +1

Because the exchange rate is jumping up and down a lot. 68c last week 71c this week.

      • its been about 70 - 71 for the last 2 weeks.

Here's an easier one to remember, you don't even need a bookmark, just type "44 usd in aud" into the search bar and Google will do the conversion for you:
        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=44+usd+in+aud

If you don't have a search bar, on most web browsers you can type the question into the URL bar and it will work too.

Google will do all sorts of conversions for you:
        https://www.google.com.au/search?q=1+microfortnight+in+secon…

        • I don't think he's asking how to convert from USD to AUD.

Ozbargain guidelines: "For deals in other currencies, please include both the original currency and the $AU equivalent in the title." https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

          @fredblogs:

I don't think the OP can do that, due to the limited number of characters in the title. If four AU$ prices are added, that's about 24 extra characters, and won't fit in the title, so at least one of the SSDs would have to be removed from the title.

However the OP could list the approximate AU prices as the first four lines of the deal description, so most people would see them in the deal listing.

@fredblogs: i totally understand but come on guys were not in the dark ages here just google it as Russ suggests or go to a conversion site of your financial institution or xe for market rate.

The method of payment will change it to whatever the exchange rate the financial institute uses anyway so approximates could be off by a decent amount sometimes…. :)

i rather know the US amount so i can figure out how much I will be paying depending on how i pay…

        • @scud70: You can still do that - the guidelines say to put both the original currency and $AU

        • +1

Protip, you can just google "$12" and it will take 12 usd and put it into local currecny :D

At 1am it was a case of CBF, I was tired and just wanted to share the deal… I'm sure we can all guestimate the AU price and check exact price of it tickles your fancy.

      • +1

Yeah everyone should know what USD is approximately worth anyway.

Great deal, I already bought one last night with 16GB DDR3 SODIMM RAM Kit and a 64GB USB3.0 flash drive when I got PNY 70% off memory products promotional email from Amazon.com.

Keep up your good work Original Poster. Thank you.

  • Price went up?

    • +1

      seems that way

      • happens as stock runs low ….. or we miss out on the spot sales due to time zones …. only 3 of the 960GB left at $283 US.

    • The price didn't go up, but for some dumb reason Amazon might be showing you the price from "CyberTrading" rather than from Amazon itself. Select the capacity you want, then click the "xx New from $xx.xx" button just below the capacity selection bit. Then choose Amazon from the list.

      • Couldn't find the 960GB for US$258

        • My bad - you're right. That's a pity :/

        • Looks like the 240GB & 960GB models have increased in price as stock numbers have reduced… supply & demand?

how is the failure rate compared to OCZ?

    • +2

Brand new model, so at this stage is possible failures are zero?

  • +1

I don't think there has been enough methodical collection of failure rates in these products.

You would need somebody like a hosting provider who has thousands of drives to provide their stats to get a meaningful figure. Some providers publish the failure rates for their spindle drives as they have had more through their storage farms.

Most things get fixed with firmware updates now, there are only a few NAND and controller manufacturers but lost of brands.
Though it is getting like the mobile phone market …. if a new model drive comes out they don't develop firmware for the old model unless it causes warranty issues.
