Perfect timing. I recently stocked up on approx 10kilos of Bi-Carb and another 10Kilos of Epsom salt. No I'm not running a meth lab, my wife is OCD and a clean freak.

Listen, I can help you out. Send her around to my place for some cleaning therapy, I can arrange some intensive sessions.

If you can make meth from bicarb soda and epsom salt, maybe you should be running a meth lab

    • Where do you get 10kg of bicarb soda from? I'd love to buy larger quantities as it's quite expensive from the supermarkets

      • +3

The things you can do with bi carb. Best one someone told me that they use bicard for was baby powder mixed with bicarb makes good odour neutraliser saves on the Lynx cans. I haven't been game to try less I come out at the end of the day with cupcakes in my armpits.

    • +1

It works great, I mix a little in my hand with water, then rub it under my arms and maybe some deodorant to make me smell good.

Your Link is not to the ebook but a 1 page flyer about the book

It was certainly a direct link when I posted it. Seems that they've since changed the linked file.

And more importantly, it was a demonstration of how to use Google to find almost any eBook.

Anyway, scroll down and other people have posted links to all of the PDFs.

  • I believe can be mixed with salt to make a nasal wash, the same as one that costs $$. However I believe this brand contains aluminium and is not suitable for this application.

    • +3

*McKenzie’s Bi-Carb is a natural food grade product and does not contain anyaluminium nor is aluminium-based additives used in the processing of the product.

  • Doesn't work, signed up and received an email confirming subscription but no download link.

  • Signed up using a temporary email address from throwawaymail.com.

Immediately received an email saying "thanks for subscribing!" with an unsubscribe link in the email. No mention of the e-book, no download link.

Left email open for 75 minutes - no further emails received. Unsubscribed.

So either they don't allow temporary email accounts, or they take a very long time to send the download link.

    • Don't think they do… I used mailinator this morning and still waiting…

They send a file several hours later.

Best use I have found is as a instant kicker/filler for cyanoacrylate glues (superglue). Sprinkle it on top of the wet glue and it dries instantly and creates a filler. Just this week I repaired a broken plastic item that also had a 5mm x 5mm chunk missing and doing a few layers I was able to fill the hole all within about 2 minutes and the part was ready to use. A box permanently lives in my workshop.

I hope one of the tips is how to make the spot I cleaned wine from on my carpet the same off yellow it was before I cleaned it with the bi-carb soda. I don't want to scrub the whole carpet haha.

Seriously deserves a neg, signed up this morning on two different email accounts and nothing other than a subscription confirmed email received.

    Unsubscribed!

Instead of waiting for the email you could've downloaded the pdf directly from the link lakers1222 posted few comments above. Just in case if you are lazy to go that far Direct link to download the pdf

      • Yeh I've done that, doesn't change the fact the normal process doesn't work.

We used Bi Carb on kids for itches scratches bumps bites. Jam jar lid, make into paste with water, hand to kid, let them dab onto sore spot as often as they wanted. That and an ice cube in the mouth stops them crying and keeps their hands busy. Can't poison them even if ingested.

When I was growing up, we were given a teaspoon of BiCarb in a glass of water if we complained of a stomach ache.

It causes almost instant and quite violent vomiting… not a pleasant experience, I can assure you!

That's a surprising result, as Eno(tm) antacid is almost 50% bicarbonate of soda, and bicarbonate of soda is a well-known home remedy. Wikipedia says "Sodium bicarbonate mixed with water can be used as an antacid to treat acid indigestion and heartburn."
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_bicarbonate#Medical_use…

Are you sure it was bicarb you were given?

        • Eno(tm) antacid is almost 50% bicarbonate of soda, and bicarbonate of soda is a well-known home remedy.

Yep, however Eno also contains over 40% Citric Acid, which neutralises almost all of the alkalinity from the BiCarb. So, it's fizzy water with a very slight antacid effect, and technically the active ingredient isn't actually the BiCarb!

BiCarb of Soda and water in small quantities works well to slightly reduce the acidity in the stomach. But it's harsh (and tastes pretty awful)

In larger amounts (eg: couple of teaspoons in a half-glass of water) the chemical reaction with the stomach acid causes a large amount of gas and foam, which can create quite a decent (and often spectacular) chunder.

It's easy and fun to test this, if you don't believe me LOL

        • @llama:

I'll take your word for the results!

I note that Wikipedia doesn't give a recommended dosage for the antacid effect, which is annoying. Nor does this e-book, it doesn't even mention the antacid effect!

        • +1

          @Russ:

The recommended dose is whatever amount is required to reduce the acidity.

BiCarb tastes absolutely horrible… it is not something that anybody would eat or drink for pleasure.

Search YouTube for "Baking Soda Challenge" and see what happens when people eat BiCarb then drink something Acidic (usually vinegar).

  • Best use to clean drains… Hot vinegar with a few spoons

  • I actually received my hard copy today in the mail~!? LoL

  • Apparently Bi carb can also cure cancer

  • Still waiting for my copy

  • Hi! Thanks very much for this - very handy!
