Well include it in the description.. You don't want to be false advertising do you?

      • +4

So if I buy multiple Starter kits now I can just keep activating new ones for this deal?

      • what happens after the first month? is this compulsorily making us sign on to more months ?
how do we cancel if the experience is not what we want?

        • Based on my research and experience, this is prepaid. So if you don't recharge then you loose service.

    • +3

I'm 99% sure it's the first month only of course…:)
You better start writing the email to ACCC ;P

  • Does it work for existing account?

    • +1

Existing customer get free Minutes on all recharges done after 12th

      • +35

        just the one customer ?

  • Is it $5/month after the first month?

Can you buy multiple of these plans?

  • only 1st Month online orders

Does the sim come preactivated? If not, when is the expiry on the sim?

    • +1

i purchased one sim for Lebara Mega Plan $39.90 on 19th feb 2016.

      no SIM received at home.

      please reverse my money.

      thanks.

  • +2

Plan in title is normally $39.90 every 30 days.

All other plans start at $24.90 every 30 days.

  • +6

honestly I cant see how this is a deal, $5 the first month then meh pricing from 2nd month.
I'm sick of seeing all these types of so called "deals" from the telcos (eg. kogan/amaysim etc).
They obviously just try to reel in customers with the cheap 1st month, then start sucking u try from the 2nd month onwards as some ppl are too lazy to switch out….

    • +9

Forget their intentions, the deal for us is a load of talk time/data (ideally for your secondary device) for $5 then bin the sim after a month.

      • +1

I know some ppl wouldnt mind binning the sim after 1 month, but I just dont like their intention

        • +17

Yeah all those merchants have evil intention, they want to make money off you.

  • is there any contract in this, or just month to month?

    • +2

      its fully prepaid NO Contract

  • +3

Good deal..5 GB of data and 500 international minutes, unlmtd local calls & text..all for $5….use for one month and then throw away sim.

    • +1

make sure no DD, they are counting on customer's laziness

      • +2

Rep just said "its fully prepaid NO Contract" above this comment you replied to.

        • +5

Prepay doesn't necessarily mean it's not direct debit…prepay only helps there is no 'over the allowance' charge… but if you want to take full advantage of the $5 offer with no intention to go on to pay the full price , it pays to check if you are getting into DD unwittingly.

        • +1

I agree, just saying if this was the case then the Rep should of said so in that comment unless he is trying to mislead new customers.

  • Good on you Lebara to up your game and let Ozbargainers know (ofcourse there is marketing in there but then that's the same deal with a lot of other providers luring new customers)

Does the sim come preactivated? If not, when is the expiry on the sim?

  • +1

I tried to get on this plan but the sim I bought was disconnected and couldn't be activated. After being on hold for 30mins I was told to buy another one. When I asked how I would know if the next one was disconnected too i was told to call again before purchasing it. Hard to do when you don't have a cell plan.

    • +1

All Australian Sims now has to go thorough proper activation process and has to be verified with Government records

  • +3

can i buy now activate 2 months later?

  • +1

was it lebara or lyca that has data routed via UK?

  • +1

    we use Vodafone 3G

    • +2

Does the sim come preactivated? If not, when is the expiry on the sim?

  • do you ask 100 questions about my identity just for activation?

    • well know its new regulation by Government will be same us other telcos in the market.

  • it is $5 for first month only. To use more than one sim you need to port out and then port in. You can only buy 5 sims per household.

    • Are you saying you can only buy 5 SIM cards per household from this retailer or are you saying you can only buy 5 SIM cards per household generally?

If it is the latter, you are incorrect.

"If you, as an individual, inform that upon activation of the service, you will have five or more activated pre-paid mobile services, the retailer must verify your identity by viewing two Category A documents or one Category A document and two Category B documents. These documents must be current.
For corporations, businesses and organisations, there are no extra requirements for multiple services."

      Source: ACMA

      • "inform that upon activation of the service"

        Just don't inform them.

  • +1

Ordered sim, no confirmation email received.

    • -1

      please check the junk mail.

      • +1

        Not in junk either…

        • +3

Please check your recycle bin 😀

        • +1

          @bghunter: Please check spam folder

  • +8

Yet AGAIN expiry on the sim?

    • +1

Sims has to be get activated 45 days from ordered.

      • +5

So here is the answer…. SIM is not pre-activated, but has to be activated within 45 days from order!

        • No SIM from ANY telco is preactivated. Those are the regulations.

        • +8

You better tell Amaysim that, their sims come pre-activated.

        • @28Degrees:
          My mistake. Thanks for correcting.

        • @28Degrees:
actually amaysim didn't come preactivated for me, I activated it a month after I ordered (currently on amaysim, ported from lebara).
Jeenee is the one that ships preactivared sims.

        • +2

@clse945111: always has for me, with loss of several days.

        • @clse945111:
Same my Amaysim didn't come preactivated either.

  • Rep, Doesn't allow me to order the SIM when I click "Buy Now" for Lebara Mega Plan $39.90.

Error - This webpage is not available
    ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED

    URL - https://shop.lebara-mobile.com.au:8081/?_ga=1.25048958.55988…

    • if you have ordered 2-3 Sims already you cannot order more.

      • +1

Didn't even work first time for me.

Edit: Issue was due to web proxy. Dunno why Lebara wants to run a https server on non-standard port 8081.

        • How to resolve this?? Thanks!

        • Neveemind.. it worked on my mobile.

      • Didnt even work the first time

  • Does it have Nano Sim included?

    • you can order Nano sim.

  • +1

Rep is deliberatly avoiding questions about activation and expiry, go fish somewhere else

    • +2

He looks online from his profile, so he should answer questions.

      • well he is not answering this question about the sim expiry

  • Rep - where on the website does it say which countries are included in the 500mins for the Mega plan?

  • +1

    China 500
    India 500
    Malaysia 500
    Singapore 500
    Canada 500
    USA 500

    • Appreciate the prompt reply. No UK?

If I buy a Sim card and port a number, do you get the bonus 3GB as well?

      • UK 200mins

    • +3

You know you can edit your description right?
It would make much more sense to put all this info in the one place at the top and about whether the sim comes pre-activated or if they have an expiry.

  • Did anyone receive confirmation email?

    • Purchased 30min ago, nothing. (Edit) Over 1 hour now, still no email.

    • let me have a look at it thanks

      • Been more than 2 hours. No email confirmation yet.. Any updates on this????

    • No confirmation, has anyone had one? CC has been charged, placed order 6 hours ago.

  • Delivery times please. When may it reach Cairns?

    • From the FAQs:\

"Once you have ordered your SIM card, you will receive a confirmation email. You can expect to receive your SIM card within 5-7 working days."

      • Thanks for that.

    • it has been shipped tomorrow or Monday

  • +1

Op should mention the first month only in description and title, not in the comment section.

  • How did you guys pay? Is Paypal supported?

    • No PayPal.

      • So has to be CC or DC and risk DD later?

  • Do not use it, bad network and customer support!!!

  • If I'm going to Greece, Italy, France and the UK for a month this year would it be worth getting one of these to call family back home here in Aus?

    • +2

I may be mistaken but these are to call overseas from Australia, not the other way around.

    • That wouldn't be a good idea at all.

    • Better to buy a lebara sim over there. I bought mine in France when traveling there. Very cheap calling back to Australia.

      • Is there a particular plan I should go for when I'm there? First stop will be Greece.

  • +1

    Is it 4g or 3g?

    • Voda 3G. Not sure if this is still Vodafail. Vodafone 4G has good reception in my area now.

      • Vodafone is pretty decent, been with them for a year now, better than Optus in my area anywho.

    • +1

      Vodafone 3G, already mentioned above

  • Hi, Lebara. With unlimited $49.90 that includes unlimited calls to Greece?

    • +1

      yes

      • Thank you for quick reply. Also can you tell me what the Family and Friends (per/$10) means?

  • +1

Guys its Voda 3G and Voda 4G DATA only

    • +4

Hi Rep, it still isn't clear if we have signed up for automatic direct debits after the 1st month or not.
      Can you please clarify?

    • +1

So data is 4G? Seemed like you said 3G above?

I note that the comments section has got a lot of questions (mostly been answered now). Maybe it'd be a good idea to edit these into the OP?

  • Do you have to enter passport code?

  • -1

Also do you accept PayPal or is it direct debit?
