  • thanks.. my first free ios app ever. just wondering, once i click on "get" it will stay in my apple account right? i don't actually need to install it? this is for my ipod which i haven't even opened yet

Yeah tap on get> install and let it start downloading, then tap on stop and it will get linked to your account. To confirm a cloud will show up next to the app's name, instead of "GET" button.

I actually let it finish downloading on my laptop. I can't seem to see this cloud icon? The app appears in my purchased list and also "My Apps"

        • +3

The cloud will show if you are on your IOS device.

          ahh okay thanks.

Also, what happens if you get an ipad version of an app, will it just not work on iphone/ipods?

        • +2

@CVonC: Some apps are universal, which means they will work on iPad/iPhone and may be Mac too. Others have two different apps for iPhone and iPad. Also there are apps which are only compatible with just iPhone or iPad.

        • @Jimmy007:

yeah like this VLC Remote one is universal. Reason I ask is because Ultimate Guitar seems to be free again but for iPad only, and I missed out on the iPhone version last time. I'm guessing the iPad version won't work at all on my iPod :(

        • +2

@CVonC: If you see "HD" in title of any app, it is most likely iPad only app.

        • @Jimmy007:

yeah it has the HD in the title. such a rort compared to Android :P

        • @CVonC:

          LOL - It's not a rort.

Of course the app for an Ipod with a 4" or 5" screen needs to be different to the app for a iPad with a 10" screen, otherwise it would look like crap.

Universal apps will "scale" like I guess you imagine that Android ones might scale… this works for some quite well. Dedicated Apps (HD) for the large screen iOS devices use a different layout that optimises the appearance and functionality to suit the 4 to 6 times larger screen area.

        • @llama:

Well that can still be implemented on a single app version. Like the Ultimate Guitar app has 2 versions on ios. I don't see how the HD one will make much difference compared to simple scaling or what not. Be happy to be corrected if there's added functionality ofc. To me it's just another way to make more money really.

  • It is free in the AU store but not in that US store (since the title is in US$). Not that I am complaining, just surprised… May be it will wait till midnight in US?…

    • It most probably will go free on US store, but not sure atm.

      • It is free in US store now.

  • How does it work?

  • do it have a function to raise and decrease pitch for a song?

    • -1

Under Advanced settings it has equalizer that can be turned on and then used. Is this what you want?

  • minimum requirement : IOS 7

    • Hardly a significant concern for many people who move their equipment on promptly.

iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad Mini (1st generation), and iPad Mini 2

Major exception is iPod Touch 4th Gen, which topped out at iOS 6.x and thus couldn't be used for VLC.

  • Not sure I will ever use it, but free is free :-)

  • App is good, don't need to have mouse or keyboard on me
    Thanks op

  • not free in the AU store, any suggestions on how to download it?
