Who Got Duped by The Free Maglight Mini Deal? (AlwaysOnSale.com.au)

Hi, there was a free maglight deal, where you get up to free maglites free and you only pay for postage. Postage was $6 for the first, then $3 for each one after that. The great thing was postage was capped at $10.. so you were getting 5 for $10.. or $2 each.. great deal.

Today i received a small package.. with one maglite :(
and said i can get a $3 refund :(
Now i have to fill some forms to get $3 refund.. but still the maglight cost me $6.. which is a ripof, as you can get them for $5 from local shops.

Not happy.. I do not recommend dealing with always on sale..

Did anyone actually get all the maglights they ordered?

Mod:There has been one sockpuppeted comment on here and another in the deal page. This as well as the current issue with the maglight has seen earned the site with a ban.

  • got duped, will be making a few phone calls next week….

  • Received my one torch today, was kinda hoping for 5 because of aussman's post…

Maybe I'm becoming paranoid, but has anyone else been getting phone calls asking to do surveys? I have had 2 in the last week, up from 0 in more than 2 years.

Would really like to know if anyone else has noticed more calls. Note that we are also on the do not call register.

    • So perhaps you were due for one or two, statistically speaking lol.

Coincidentally I got a call from Roy Morgan research on behalf of my bank few nights ago.

  • Only got one today….

  • got one today.. paid 6 dollars and they "promised" to refund 3 dollars..

end of the day.. not going to complain about a 3 dollar torch.. but cant say i am not dissapointed thou

  • Also a little pissed off
The page clearly stated maximum of 5 and was also updated when out of stock.
How the heck can they get this so wrong?
I'm on the do not call register and have a silent number, and I have also received research/donation calls.
At least when you unsubscribe from their sales email subscription you can write the reason why in a less than civil manner.
    Epic scam!

  • Did anyone get the $3 refund? The status check pages says cash back approved and it's waiting to be paid, but no update for a few days.

    • Nope, nothing here…wondering the same.

I got mine but this was a while ago, shortly after they put several things in place to make it almost impossible to get your refund.

      • Yeah got mine, but also applied immediately upon receiving the torch, and requested a PayPal refund. Wasn't going to trust these people to fiddle with my credit card details again.

They have obviously realised no one involved in the promo is going to shop with them again, and seemingly are handling refunds with a very low priority.

We better hear word from them tomorrow about our refunds… my "application" for my refund last week has so far got no response

    • This company handled the initial sale in a contemptuous manor, no surprise they they are doing just the same with the refund process. How low can these people sink.

I got the e-mail about sending the snail mail for a refund to my Paypal. I don't think I should have to send out snail mail to get a refund since they already asked for so many details and its going to my Paypal anyway. Really not happy with this service, hope this gets sorted out soon although it isn't much money, I still want my refund. Also, the website to check the status of my refund is coincidently also not working.

    • I just filled out the online form and money arrived in paypal account….got the e-mail, but no snail mail of anything needed

      • Thanks for that andy, i'll try fill out the form again online and see how it goes, what did you guys fill in for model and serial number? I don't see a serial number or really a model number.

What is it with the cash back claim? Why don't they just refund/credit back to PayPal/Credit Card automatically? They are probably hoping for some people couldn't be bothered claiming the $3 and that will be their gain.

This is the ONLY conclusion I can come to regarding this dodgy deal. If they were genuine about fixing this, they would have simply done a refund. It's easy to do and it actually costs them less in staff time to organise it.

  • gave them a call,

    long story short:

mentioned that i wanted 5 torches for 6 dollars, not 1 for 3 dollars

she said, 'included there should have been a voucher for $10'

i said that's not what i want, if you can't deliver what i ordered i want my money back.

she said ok, will see what we can do, i will send you an email back with details of what you need to do, and someone will call you in the next few days…

so pretty open ended…see what happens, if i dont hear anything in the next few days, i will be calling again.

    • she_spools_180 RE: an email back with details of what you need to do

you should have jump or do anything

you should phone them back tel them to do it

        i just received a call.

i was informed that i would receive a full refund on the postage, (6.09 or whatever it was) to my credit cards, and there is no need for me to do anything, i can keep the maglite.

        win!

so now to see if they do actually give me the refund, he said there was a couple of days processing time for the refund..but yeh..

        see how we go.

so potentially some good has come from this for me.

        • update:

looked at my bank statement yesterday,

          full amount ($6.09) refunded :)

very happy, they handled it very well (for me at least).

all it took was one phone call, did not take any arguing, i just stated that i didnt get what i wanted, and that i should have been given the choice of a refund or one maglite since they couldnt deliver my order exactly, from there it solved itself. refund :)

  • I got my $3.04 refund into my bank account this afternoon.

To get it, I filled in the form online, and that was all. I didn't have to send them the receipt or anything.

  • got my $3 refund today too - Has anyone bought anything with the voucher? Any recommendations?

    • +3

I would highly recommend no one use it… it's just another money grabbing scam

      • +2

Yep….I tossed my letter the day I got it. Won't be wasting anymore of my time with this company.

Yep, they have 4Gb class6 Verbatim brand SD cards if you need one.
$9 in the "clearance centre" part of their web site. You have to pay $6 postage but not a bad deal

    • You can't use the discount coupon for that, it's only for items $10 or greater.

      • double

      • -1

Yep. Just checked, you are right.
They were $10 last week, they seem to have dropped the price by a dollar thus dropping them from the offer.

A few "maybe" items but nothing spectacular:

-MICRO USB CAR CHARGER (Belkin) $14
        -TDK LIGHT-WEIGHT HEADPHONES $17
        -KODAK AAA 2PK NI-MH PRECHARGED BTRY $10
        -AVLabs FM Transmitter $11

Remember, you will have to pay postage on top - usually $6

  • Got my Refund paid to my paypal account.
What is the best way to transfer it ou without any cost?

    • The only way I know of to get it out is to pay the fee, which would be about half of the $3.04, so that's a waste. Best you could do is probably leave it there until you buy something again, and spend it then, adding more funds from your credit card or bank account if you need to.

If anyone knows of any free ways of getting the money out of the PayPal account free, though, please post. I'd love to know.

      • Transfer more than 150 at a time and there is no fee , i let it build up till its 150 then just trnsfer to the bank.

  • +1 to just leaving it in your PayPal account until you next buy soemthing with PayPal.

  • Can anyone get to http://aos.dgclient.com/StatusCheck.aspx ?

The confirmation email says I can go there to check the status of the refund but the site is no workie for me.

    • Nope…

Will never buy from them ever again… Stuff the $10 voucher…

  • Still no refund here. Bunch of crooks and deadbeats.

    • i got my refund and i used the $10 voucher (over the phone) for the postage on the free first aid kit

  • The cashback website didn't work for me yesterday or today, had to call them up and the guy did it for me, wasted me a local call. Had a little rant as well but what's the call centre guy gonna do. Still bloody annoyed though!

  • as i mentioned above, full refund ($6.09), i got to keep the single maglite

and all it took was one phone call, without much hassle. (which i made from work, so it didnt cost me)

    pretty happy

    • The guy who answered the phone wanted me to send the maglite back for the full refund, how did you get them to give you a refund and keep the maglite?

      • i'm not sure, i even offered them to send the maglite back, but they said i could keep it

  • Does anyone remember ticking a box that gave them permission to send us promotions via email? I don't, but I'm not sure if I just did it without even noticing it (thinking I was buying something from a store, not a marketing company)

  • just do a chargeback with through bank if u used a credit card, will cost the seller around #30.00 for bank fees according to the teller when i lodged mine last week
