They're direct recordings from on-stage performances. That might explain the quality.
Not really an excuse, some of the best recordings ever made are of live performances from decades ago (e.g. Leonard Bernstein, Led Zeppelin, Peter Frampton etc) and it's much easier to make good live (and studio) recordings today than it was 40 years ago.
Perhaps it's just a simple case of kevin22 not having his Play Music app set to the highest audio quality.
I'm not able to listen to these myself at the moment, so can't comment.
