Best long-expiry prepaid?

We have 5 virgin mobile users in house and need to add another one for temp visitor for a year.
So looking for a cheapest long-expiry prepaid plan.

Came across Aldi and Amaysim plans which looks good.
Any other recommendation or which one better in these two?

    Aldi - 365 days validity.
Amaysim - You need to recharge every 90 days.

    • Thanks thats why im much inclined towards Aldi.

Don't know the latest deals across providers but the prevailing advice was if someone really only makes calls once or twice a month and never uses data, then ALDI will suffice with its extra long expiry. If you use any data at all then Amaysim is the better choice with Optus 4G speeds (though then you'd want the data packs that make data much better value but of course more expensive). The $10.99 Live Connected Plans were the perfect balance in the good ol' days but now it's lose-lose if you happen to need Google Maps for a single day every 3 months or so…

In general, you'll find that despite Optus reaching many more regional areas these days you're more likely to have drop outs with Optus and Vodafone in equivalent areas. Data speeds on Optus in areas with poor reception isn't nearly as bad as it used to be (you just have to have a consistent bar :)).

BTW Google maps are now available off-line.

For Amaysim if you purchase their 10GB/365 days data pack, your voice credit also lasts one year (rather than expire after 90 days).

      • Only that present/remaining at the time of activating the pack. Unless things have changed (?) any further credit added for voice/text will then revert to the regular 90 day expiry. OP can certainly allow for that upfront, if keen.

  • Are you wanting a quick data connection?

    • preferably Yes

      • Some MVNOs like Aldi, Telechoice etc are 3G Telstra wholesale customers and they dont offer 4G data speeds (supposedly being implemented in June 2016?)…..From my experience, Aldi Mobile's data speeds are woeful.

  • Can't the find link but I saw something today about a new prepaid plan Kogan has. It's unlimited calls and texts with about 1gb of data on voda 3g.

  • does anyone know how often you need to recharge with the Kogan?

  • If all other household phones are Virgin, are there any plans or prepaids that are free Virgin to Virgin? I think most Virgin services are.

    • Are you asking if other providers can call Virgin free? No. IMHO the only advantage of Virgin prepaid is if all the family are on them and their usage is light except between family members. Data is expensive this way however.
