Chromecast for $39.20 at Dick Smith

This can be further reduced if price matched with

Removing the TGG link due to the fact they are not accepting the 30 day price guarantee from Dick Smith. Thanks @Water for the input.

NOTE: If you buy Chromecast from The Good Guys (which is $49), by purchasing products for extra $21 or above , and selecting for click & collect, you will get store credit of $10. Make sure you don't forget to click & collect ONLY. The difference between Dick Smith & TGG price can also be claimed.

@TGG, you need to submit the claim.

$39 doesn't strike me as a bargain for this.

It looks like the OLD model

@TGG, you need to submit the claim.

and you get store credit, not a cash back…

    • If you purchase something from TGG, and a selected competitor of TGG decreases the price of an identical product within 30 days of your purchase, you are given the option of claiming either a store credit (valid only at TGG outlets) or an EFTPOS card (valid anywhere EFTPOS is accepted).

With CC2 becoming more common in the market, this is quite overpriced.

From The Good Guys 30 Day Price Guarantee page - "Currently we are not accepting 30 Day Price Guarantee and Price Beat Claims against Dick Smith due to the business going into Voluntary Receivership."

      Well that's a cop-out.

Not really. Almost nobody officially price matches clearances or liquidations, because that's totally different from a sale price. Officeworks' policy explicitly excludes liquidations too so I wouldn't hold my breath on them matching it either.

        • was just about to ask about that…i'd think OW would have the right to refuse any matching of DSE prices..

"What items are excluded from the LPG?
Non identical products and services (inclusive of non identical warranties)
Package deals i.e. printer and computer bundles
          Cash back and coupon offers
          Resellers
          Customer special orders
          Contract Pricing
          Competitor clearance products"

It also says in the second paragraph:

Excludes stock liquidations, customer special orders, contract pricing and competitor clearance products.

Who knows why they put it separate from the bullet point list of other exclusions.

Then again you could get lucky if you try and price match in a store before anyone gets a memo from head office saying "don't match Dick Smith", especially since it's a decent price but not an unbelievable deal.

        • Just got mine price matched from OW yesterday. The guy mentioned that they were price matching the same price last week so it didn't seem unreasonable to do the same this week.

      • I'm personally all for TGG not price matching DSE. We need businesses like TGG to stay in business.

        • Well it would be good if they stuck with their slogan.
My sister went in and asked what kind of deal they could do if she paid with cash but there was no price slashing.

        • @Hirolol:

Well it would be good if they stuck with their slogan.

Their slogan is "Pay Less, Pay Less". What's it got to do with cash?

        • +1

@AlexF: It was "Pay Less, Pay Cash" for quite a long time until they axed it.

        • @AlexF:
Oh i didnt know they changed the slogan!

        • @lbft:
This is such sad news… Very old news as well haha

        • @lbft:
"Pay Less, Pay Cash" is a non sequitur. If it was reverted, only then it'd imply something tangible.

  • There was one left at the Gawler Place Adelaide (SA) store yesterday, and didn't think it was a bargain based on previous deals. If it goes sub-$30, then we're talking, but I think they'll sell out before then.

  • Went in yesterday and there was no stock of chromecasts.

  • I was told Officeworks wouldn't pricematch with DickSmith because they are going in to liquidation. Scammers.
