  • Is this for pool or lake?

Given its 2 person and comes with oars I think its pretty clear its for the bathtub…

  • The youtube video reviews look good. People on lakes and rivers. Currently ~$108USD on Amazon.

Go through Gumtree, you can find a decent kayak for about $150 if your patient and willing to wait, they last forever as well so you can still make your money back once the novelty wears off.

Yep. Just bought one for $100. Better than inflatable.

The problem is that you need a big car, roof racks or a trailer … so a bit more investment necessary for some.

      • Totally fair! If you just want to get on the water, short on storage and you aren't doing long distance, this is more than ok!
Anything that gets you on the water is better than nothing!

  • Edit.
    Not as good deal.

  • Depends on your needs. For a lot of people they are ideal for family use. As they are cheap and pack up to put in cupboard or inside car.
You can get excellent roto moulded plastic kayaks cheap on gum tree which are very robust but they use up storage and you cannot put them inside your car.
For the best of both worlds get a pack raft like an Alpacka unfortunately they cost a bomb

  • How good are they at avoiding punctures?

Do not reverse back over those speed humps with spikes in one of these. Damage may result.

      • Perfectly good joke. Plussing.

Good to see its a brand name item. My double is 35kg and 13 feet long. Much too big.
Anyone know how single paddling would go in a double like this? I might take the plunge.

    Don't waste your money.
These inflatable kayaks are just toys.
They do not go straight and if there is any wind you have no hope.It goes with the wind…
I had one and got rid of it straight away.
A good 2nd hand kayak from gumtree is a much better option imho.

    • Although the offer has expired, this is exactly the sort of advice needed to steer people in the right direction. I've done 100's of hours of paddling, and only certain designs really work. Never tried inflatables.
Today I put out an unstable 12' paddle board for the kerb council chuckout. It's rubbish.
Very hesitant to try blowups. But if they did work well, I would buy in a flash as sick of 25 to 35 kg haul to beach.

SO DOES ANYONE have experience of inflatable kayaking that you can go 4km out to a reef against a headwind, anchor and catch moby dick, and paddle back feeling similar to a rigid kayak?

      • If that did exist at an affordable pricepoint it would sell like hotcakes. The one inflatable I've ever tried tracked terribly.

        • Thanks. I'll go back to the big, old windrush windsurfer boards. 110% stable and fun. Gumtree or kerbside whitegoods throwouts has provided plenty in the past for nix.

Forget about taking an inflatable out in the ocean.
At best you may get a good run on a flat lake or creek (assuming no big tide and not much wind)
